The body of a woman was found with multiple slash wounds on her neck, face and hands and left near a burnt car at Taman Klang Jaya here.

The victim, who was identified as V. Letchumi, from Taman Desa Utama here was found lying about three metres away from her car at about 3.20am last Wednesday
It was believed that the woman, in her 40s, was murdered for having an affair with a man who is in a relationship.

South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Alzafny Ahmad said that nearby residents had earlier alerted the authorities that a car was on fire near a park at the residential area.

“When the firemen came to put out the fire, they found the victim’s body at the scene.
“A post-mortem conducted at the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah later revealed that the victim suffered slash wounds on her neck, face and hands.

Initial investigation found that the victim was divorced since June last year and had moved out from her ex-husband’s house since two weeks ago. They had two children.
ACP Alzafny said that two men and a woman were arrested later the same day and have been remanded to assist in the investigation.

1 Killed, 20 Escape Death In Penang Bus Crash

The driver of an express bus claimed he saw an animal dash across the highway and, startled, pulled on the steering wheel, losing control of the bus.
All the passengers were tossed with such force that Kedahan Norazah Azizan, 29, who was seated in the rear was killed after being thrown several rows to the front of the bus.
Twenty others were injured in the accident at Kilometre 151 on the North-South Expressway near the Tambun exit yesterday at 4.20am. It was heading to Kuala Perlis from Hentian Duta in Kuala Lumpur.
 S. Pushpamala, 36, one of the six passengers who escaped unhurt, said she remembered Norazah being seated near the back of the bus and was horrified to learn her body had been found among the front rows.
“I remember seeing the Tambun exit sign and then the bus started swerving.
“We all screamed. We were flung about. The bus then hit the centre divider and stopped. It was leaning on its right side supported by the divider.
“All the windows on the right were shattered and some of the seats came loose. I just grabbed my bag and crawled out through a broken window,”Pushpamala told reporters at the Seberang Jaya Hospital.

The injured are aged between 19 and 50 and all received outpatient treatment at the hospital. Among them were nine foreigners from Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Cambodia and India.
Five of eight Muslim preachers from India were among the injured. They were heading to Jitra, Kedah, for a four-month religious programme.
Norazah’s body was sent to the hospital for a post-mortem.
South Seberang Prai district police chief Supt Shafee Abdul Samad said the 40-year-old bus driver would be charged today in the Jawi magistrate’s court with causing death by reckless or dangerous driving, under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“The driver claimed he saw an animal crossing his path from left to right. He said it looked like a dog.
“We also found he has three outstanding traffic summonses for speeding while driving a bus in 2012, riding a motorcycle without a helmet in 2004 and a car parking offence in 2010,” he said, adding that the driver had light injuries on the face and the accident caused a 1km traffic jam.

Umno to hold mass gathering to celebrate anniversary - Dream on and day dreaming is bad for political Health

Any bets that only maybe 30 thousand or less will attend as it is expensive to hire buses , hotel rooms , pocket money , food to get these members to attend the Mass gathering . Cost per person RM 700 x 30 ,000 = 21 Million and I doubt UMNO wants to spend more as 140,000 will cost 100 Million ringgits which they cannot afford and cost may go 2 or 3 fold also

Umno to hold mass gathering to celebrate anniversary

By Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno will celebrate its 71st anniversary on May 11 with a massive gathering of 140,000 members at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
Executive secretary Ab Rauf Yusoh told a media briefing today that the gathering will be attended by party president Najib Razak, deputy president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and all other senior party members.
“The highlight of the Umno anniversary celebration this year will be to show that this party will still remain united under Barisan Nasional to face the next general election.
“It will also show that unity in Barisan Nasional is still solid under the leadership of Najib,” Rauf said.
One of the highlights of the gathering that starts at 7pm will be a live telecast from the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).
The live telecast will show the groundbreaking ceremony for Umno’s new party headquarters that will be housed in a 70-storey tower built near the site of the current PWTC.
Various activities will be organised in the run-up to the gathering at the stadium, The Star reported.

They include a party flag run (larian bendera), an essay writing and drawing competition on the 2050 National Transformation (TN50) aspiration, and a two-day carnival on May 10 and May 11 outside the National Stadium.

The Kedah MB says the PKR deputy president is trying to diver the peoples attention in the state

ALOR SETAR: Kedah Umno Liaison Committee chairman Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah has warned PKR deputy president Mohamad Azmin Ali to stay away from politics in Kedah or Kedah UMNO and look after his own turf instead.
Ahmad Bashah said Azmin’s statement on a change in the Menteri Besar between him and Mukhriz Mahathir last year would lead to a shift in votes to Pakatan Harapan in the 14th general election, as an effort to divert the people’s attention.
“He gave the statement merely to shift focus from his own problems as he himself was also embroiled in the Selangor Menteri Besar crisis with Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
“So we should not be minding other people’s business because after all, they have quit Umno and have no spirit to fight for the party,” he told reporters after the opening ceremony of the Islamic Civilisation Education Fair, Artifacts of Prophet Muhammad and his Companions here.
The Kedah Menteri Besar was asked to comment on a news report in which Azmin said the Kedah Menteri Besar crisis would contribute to votes going to Pakatan Harapan in the 14th general election.

Raise retirement age of judges to 70, says chief justice - Please do not and bring their retirement age down to 60

What to do the government pension is not enough for retirement and accustomed good life. Need to work longer and delay retirement. Heard the higher grade government officers who retired are find it difficult to survive on the meager pensions. Better retire early at 60 so the young magistrates can also be promoted and if Judges hog their jobs then what about promotions for the junior judges or magistrates. What about the poor common folks.

Raise retirement age of judges to 70, says chief justice
 | March 28, 2017
Arifin Zakaria says judges are capable and mentally alert at age 70 and that judges in other countries are surprised that Malaysian judges retire at 66.

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysian judges are capable of serving the bench until 70 years of age as life expectancy has gone up, out-going Chief Justice Arifin Zakaria said.
He said judges in neighbouring countries such as Singapore, the Philippines and Indonesia retired between the age of 70 and 75.
“They are surprised our judges retire at 66,” he told reporters during an interview on the eve of his retirement this week.
He said Federal Court judges in the United States remained in office as long as they were physically and mentally healthy.
“We need not go to that extreme but it is sufficient that the retirement age here be raised to 70,” he said.
To extend the tenure of judges, Ariffin said the Federal Constitution would have to be amended with two-thirds majority support.
However, the Barisan Nasional government does not enjoy the super majority to approve constitutional amendments in the Dewan Rakyat.
Arifin said it was left to the MPs to vote according to their conscience or party line if an amendment were to be tabled.
Former law minister Rais Yatim, who last year suggested extending the retirement age of judges, said a judge might not have the adrenalin surges of a younger person, but “it is the dexterity, wisdom and brainpower that we want”.
On another matter, Arifin said he encouraged judges to write dissenting judgments if they had a strong opinion on the cases to be decided.
“There must be real reasons to dissent. Don’t simply dissent for the sake of dissenting. If you feel you need to depart from the views of the majority, you are duty bound to do so,” he said.
Arifin said he had written judgments which departed from the majority while sitting in the Court of Appeal and the Federal Court.
He said academicians, lawyers and the public could comment on judgments but it must be couched in temperate language.
“We encourage commentaries as we want to know the opinions of the legal fraternity and academics,” he added.
