Public announcement - Major Kuala Lumpur roads close this Sunday for Standard Chartered KL Marathon.

Major roads in the city will be closed on Sunday in conjunction with the Standard Chartered KL Marathon.

Among the major highways include the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (Duke) and the Ampang Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (Akleh).

The Duke highway will be closed from 2.30am to 10.30am, while Akleh will be closed from 1.30am until 11.30am.

A total of 35,878 participants are expected to run along the 42km stretch.
City Traffic Police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nadzri Hussain said those planning to enter into the city should refer to navigation app Waze.

“We have plotted the road closures on Waze and it will automatically divert motorists to an alternative route to reach the city.

"We advise the public to use the Light Rail Transit (LRT) or Monorail to avoid encountering road closures and congestion,” he said.

Mohd Nadzri also advised those in the city to use pedestrians bridges when crossing roads to avoid clashing with participants.

He also warned motorists to avoid parking illegally along the closures or roadsides as their vehicles will be towed and 130 policemen will be on duty.

"The organisers will conduct clean-ups on the highway after the marathon ends and this will take about an hour. Plan your journey properly as traffic congestion is expected in the city," he said.
Roads affected are Jalan Raja, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Ampang, Jalan P.Ramlee, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim, Jalan Langgak Tunku, Jalan Bukit Tunku, Jalan Tunku, Jalan Tun Ismail, Jalan Dato Onn, Jalan Sultan Sallehuddin, Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Damansara, Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar, Jalan Kinabalu and Jalan Sultan Hishamudin.

A BumiPutra's Bird eye view of NEP and it's posioned fruit or 2 edge sword

What do the Malays today think of Bumiputera policies?

Perawi Niaga, Nurse. Taking Care of My Elderly Mother

I am a Malay raised in a poor rural area. I and my siblings frequently missed meals during monsoon which can last up to three months. Without these policies, it is impossible for me to get tertiary education and later pay taxes. Only few of us managed to break the poverty vicious cycle. Once I graduated form a local university, I worked in a multinational company as a software engineer, bonded by the scholarship. Then I have to work just like every body else, promotion based on merit. I retire early to take of my elderly mother after 27 years working in 2 multinational companies.

I bought a house with 10% bumiputera discount. When I wanted to sell it to buy a better house, I can only sell it to another bumiputera which is difficult to find one. Now it become a liability instead of an asset. It help me to buy but hinder me to sell.

My sons having problem to get the first job, but moving to the new job is easier.

I know many Malays abuse the policies because they are connected to UMNO

‘WE KNOW WHERE THE MONEY IS’: MAHATHIR SENDS A CHILL THROUGH NAJIB & ROSMAH’S HEART, VOWS TO ‘TAKE BACK’ EVERY CENT

IF the opposition came to power, it would hunt for the missing 1MDB funds and pursue the matter to the prime minister’s door, Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today.

“We know where the money is, and we will try to take back all the money, even till Najib’s door,” the former prime minister said on Facebook live today, referring to the billions allegedly siphoned off 1Malaysia Development Bhd and Najib Razak’s denial that he was the beneficiary of the funds.

Dr Mahathir answered five questions during a 30-minute “Hangpa tanya, Chedet jawab” session.

“We (Pakatan Harapan) may not get it all back but we will get most of it,” the 92-year-old said.
He has accused Najib of tarnishing Malaysia’s reputation over the 1MDB debts and scandal.

In the session, Dr Mahathir also said the opposition is looking at not only preventing another 1MDB scandal but also to solve a related matter – the Bandar Malaysia issue.

“We not only want to prevent the 1MDB problem from happening again, but we also want to find a solution that can prevent the misuse of funds like in the 1MDB and Bandar Malaysia.”

The former prime minister, who led the country from 1981-2003, was asked if he was against the Chinese and investments from China in Malaysia.

“If there is a difference in status between two races in terms of wealth, then there will be tension and riots… this will also give birth to communism and socialism to bridge this disparity.

“That is why to avoid communism and socialism, we try to close the gap between the different races, regardless of whether they are Malay, Indian or Chinese.

“The prime minister of Malaysia sees China as a rich country and he wants that money, so he gives out big contracts to China, and buy electric trains from China, when he wants to pay, there is no money, so he sells our Malaysian land to China,” he said, referring to the convoluted deal surrounding Bandar Malaysia.

One viewer asked why Dr Mahathir did not turn Malaysia into a more Islamic nation when he was prime minister.

“Firstly, regarding the so-called Islamic policies, we accept it as a policy to inculcate Islamic values. Because not all Malaysians are Muslims, we cannot do something that can cause havoc.

“It is against our Islamic values to do that, God does not allow us to cause havoc. But if you look at the values of Islam, everyone accepts them… that is why we prioritise the values of Islam.”

He also touched on the high unemployment rate. Dr Mahathir said a peaceful, safe and business-friendly nation is crucial in creating more job opportunities.

“It is Najib’s policy to increase income, but increasing income alone does not solve the problem because when you increase income alone, the cost of production and living will also increase.

“So, if we have a lot of money, we will buy a lot of things which will inflate the price, this has happened in a lot of foreign countries till everyone is a millionaire, but no one can buy anything because of the drop in the value of the currency.”

At the end of the session, Dr Mahathir said he will be doing another live chat soon.

After 10-year gap, Thai lotuses bloom again

AFP | May 19, 2017

The flowers, considered sacred in Thai culture, are good news for locals who have been ferrying camera-toting visitors through the lotuses which lie in knots on the lake's vast waters.

Field of Sacred Lotuses Bloom For First Time in a Decade

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN: For the first time in a decade a Thai lake has given up its dazzling secret — the pink blooms of tens of thousands of lotuses.

The sea of colour in Khao Sam Roi Yot national park, three hours south of Bangkok, is a show-stopping feat of nature that has locals hoping for a tourist bonanza.

But it has also sparked warnings over the fragility of the environment with park rangers pleading with people not to visit until the lake is healthy enough to deal with an influx of tourists.

The flowers, considered sacred in Thai culture, are good news for locals who have been ferrying camera-toting visitors through the lotuses which lie in knots on the lake’s vast waters.

But “currently they should not come,” said head ranger Rungroj Aswakultarin.
“The national park is in the process of restoring the lotuses. When it comes to the right time the park will open them up to the public,” he said.

Rungroj’s caution is understandable.

For the last decade the park — a stunning jumble of lakes, tributaries and towering limestone karsts three hours south of Bangkok — saw no widespread lotus bloom.

No-one has been able to pinpoint exactly why.

But officials blame a mixture of drought and pollution from fertilisers and nearby seafood farms.
In recent years rangers have tried to clean up the park and this year were rewarded with a sea of pink flowers.

Thailand struggles to balance its lucrative tourism industry with preserving the environment.

Few countries have experienced the kind of stratospheric growth in tourism.

In the last decade the number of foreign arrivals has more than doubled from 13.8 million in 2006 to a record 32.5 million last year, growth partly powered by Chinese arrivals.
Those expecting to find the kind of pristine, untouched beaches in tourist brochures are often left disappointed among hordes of visitors.

Thailand’s tourism minister has called for the industry to chase fewer holidaymakers but ones with deep pockets.

This week some 61 national parks, including 25 marine parks, closed to visitors for the monsoon season, an annual move to try and help them recover.

But some environmentalists have argued the most vulnerable ecosystems need to close for longer, or face much stronger restrictions on visitor numbers.

BOMBSHELL – ROSMAH’S ROLE IN 1MDB THEFT EMERGING : SON RIZA’S LAWYERS MAKE DAMNING STATEMENTS THAT POINT FINGER AT ‘MOMMY DEAREST’

In his statement challenging the US Department Of Justice’s seizure of assets in his name,Riza Aziz, son of Rosmah Mansor and step-son of PM Najib says via his lawyers:
Mr Aziz claimed ownership of the entities in his 2012 US tax return, and properly disclosed the transfer of funds ( $94,500,000.00 )from Aabar-BVI to Red Granite Capital Limited. Those funds, according to the Complaint, were reported as a gift under US tax law, and Mr Aziz, after discussion among his accountants and business manager, obtained a letter documenting the gift, signed by the CEO of Aabar (Mohamad Al- Husseiny).

“Nothing in the Complaint alleges that Mr Aziz …. knew that Aabar-BVI was unaffiliated with Aabar or IPIC”

Accepting the above statements, it follows that Riza Aziz honestly believed that he was being gifted some USD 95 million by , ultimately, the Abu Dhabi government , based on a personal relationship.
Al- Husseiny’s letter that Riza relies on states:

This letter is intended to confirm that the transfer of $94,500,000.00 which consisted of a wire transfer on June 18, 2012 to BSI Bank, Ltd. (account number [XXX]250A) for the benefit of Riza Aziz was intended as a gift. The transfer was made for no consideration and no services were performed or gift received for assets. This was a gratuitous transfer made with detached and disinterested generosity based on our close personal relationship.

The DOJ argues that Riza must have known that the transfer had nothing to do with the IPIC and the government of Abu Dhabi, but Riza insists otherwise.
Taking him at his word, and given that the basis of that “gift” was a “personal relationship”, an alternative and one suspects unintended picture emerges; that the “gift” was granted if not instigated by Riza’s mother,Rosmah Mansor, who we have been told time and time again has close personal friendships in the Middle East. These are some of what has been reported in Malaysia:
Rosmah uses Saudi prince’s RM7mil present for charity
Rosmah seeks assistance of Egyptian president’s wife to free M’sian student

Our students safely home thanks to FLOM
At this point is it important, indeed vital , to remember that Riza claims he received close to a hundred million as a gift from IPIC, a sovereign wealth fund(SWF).This is unlike the claim made by his step-father, PM Najib, who claims a “donation” of USD 681 million was given him by the Saudi King or some close relative, in a personal capacity. SWFs are not normally in the habit of making multi-million dollar gifts to private individuals out of love and affection, and in the case of IPIC, reporting obligations to the LSE would have made such generosity very highly unlikely.
Be that as it may, accepting him at his word, it becomes clear that if the government of Abu Dhabi had a personal relationship, it was with Rosmah rather than Riza.

Consequently, it follows that if a gift was in fact granted by that government, it would have been to her, or at her instigation.
However, at or around the time of this gift making, the Malaysian Government via 1MDB was making payments to Aabar and IPIC, of some USD 1 billion. As the Opposition MP Tony Pua explains it, these transactions resulted in significant losses to 1MDB.

Therefore, even if that USD 94.5 million was a gift from Aabar, it was extended during a time when Aabar and IPIC received over a billion from the Malaysian Government.
If a “personal relationship” was the basis of that gift, then it is more likely than not that Rosmah’s “gift” was actually a bribe for what was clearly a very profitable series of transactions in IPIC’s favour, This is the conclusion one would reach based on Riza Aziz’s own statement of claim.

1MDB bears the ultimate cost of that bribe, and in that sense it is not different from theft.

What Happens When Intelligence Agencies Lose Faith in the President?

If bureaucrats restrict the information they share with political leaders, the damage could prove deep and lasting.

American military and intelligence agencies must assume from now on that the president of the United States is a security risk. He cannot be trusted to protect state secrets.

In a parliamentary system, a head of government who did what Donald Trump has done would already have resigned. There is no sign of that from the 45th president. Instead, the remainder of the U.S. government must cope with a president who has proven himself unable to understand the significance of the secrets shown him—proven himself a compulsive blurter and blabber—and added new urgency to the fear that he is somehow under the thrall of Russia.

Would the president have so abjectly tried to impress representatives of any other country? He blabbed because he bragged, and he bragged because he values Russia’s and Putin’s goodwill so bizarrely much. As the economist Justin Wolfers noted, if officials had not revealed the truth to the media, the Russians would now genuinely have damaging kompromat on Trump: the secret of a dereliction of duty that would have gotten anybody else in government fired, if not indicted.

So what happens now?

When officials at one agency of government become convinced that another cannot be trusted to preserve secrets, they slow the flow of information to that agency. Can they do that when the distrusted agency is the White House; the distrusted person, the president of the United States?

The president can never be cut out of the information loop altogether. But consider how little information Trump wants in the first place. He is satisfied with single pagers dotted by colorful bullet points. If that is all he uses, maybe it’s better for everybody to hold back information he could possibly misuse?

Or maybe the sterilization will happen inside the White House itself. The National Security Council staff, formerly tasked to integrate the presidency and the government, could find a new rule: quarantining the president from the government.

If so, they’ll be averting one immediate danger by creating another for the longer term: They will be rerouting the government of the United States around its constitutional head. Unelected staff will decide what the elected president can safely be allowed to know.

It’s understandable why conscientious professionals would take such measures. Yet consider the troubling consequence of that decision. The security aspects of government would slip away from political control—for reasons that might seem necessary in the short run, but could be hard to reverse in the longer term. Donald Trump promised to shake up Washington. And what is being shaken is the trust of those who must carry out his orders. Someone has to be ultimately in charge of the national-security portions of the U.S. government. After this week, it may become a lot harder to identify precisely who that someone is.

It’s ‘getting real’: Special Ops Iron Man suit takes shape

By: Jen Judson, May 18, 2017

An Army soldier wears conceptual "future soldier" armor at the Detroit Auto Show in 2012. If the Special Operations Command's TALOS project is successful, soldiers may wear armored exoskeletons for urban combat in the near future.

TAMPA, Fla. — The informally named “Iron Man” suit that U.S. Special Operations has been developing will start to come together over the next 18 months with a first prototype expected to be fully built by the end of 2018.

Formally known as the Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit, or TALOS, Special Operations Command has spent the past four years tackling complicated technical hurdles to try to revolutionize the performance of a dismounted operator by developing the armored exoskeleton.

“It’s getting very real right now,” Col. James Miller, the director of the Joint Acquisition Task Force TALOS, said Wednesday at the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference.

The team of around 35 vendors, labs and academic institutions are diving deeper on systems engineering, he said, adding, “We are going to start building parts and snapping them together” while testing for functionality and safety.

Some skeptics have said the project is moving too slowly or that it's a waste of money to try to develop something only a reality in comic books and movies, akin to the Pentagon building a "Star Wars" Death Star. A few years ago, the suit even made its way into then-Sen. Tom Coburn's, R-Okla., famous "wastebook" among 100 federal programs he called wasteful.

But for Miller, getting TALOS right would be a revolutionary leap ahead achievement for the future special operator, not meant to be fielded in just a few years. “We are trying to redefine in many respects science and engineering,” he said.

“We are putting a human inside of a robot,” Miller said, which “has to emulate the human itself.”

The program isn’t tackling how to give back capability to someone who is impaired; it’s trying to take an elite athlete and super empower someone with that capability, James “Hondo” Geurts, USSOCOM acquisition executive told Defense News in an interview at SOFIC.

While SOCOM is trying to push the bounds with a full suit, there have already been “great spin-offs both in technology and in business practices,” along the way, he said.

TALOS program officials sat down with industry representatives by appointment for nearly 12 non-consecutive hours over the course of three-and-a-half day conference.

Each layer of the suit presents complicated technical challenges, and integrating all the layers is yet another challenge. Miller sees it as a "system of systems," like an aircraft or other major weapons platform.

THE IRON MAN PROGRAM, US ARMY FUTURE SOLDIER

Miller said the base layer of the suit needs to be capable of regulating the operator’s temperature and will have tubes incorporated into the layer delivering chilled water to keep an operator’s core from overheating. Also “junctional fragmentation” will be woven into the fabric to protect the operator where armor pieces won’t cover.

The exoskeleton’s purpose is to displace hundreds of pounds of weight and enhance body movement. It has to be perfectly form-fitting, “kinematically seamless with the body,” Miller said. The individual wearing it shouldn’t notice it’s there.

“If we get that right, then we are good,” he said, adding exoskeletons have been attempted in the past several decades, but some were so big they couldn’t fit through a door. That won’t work for special operators engaging in close-quarter combat, Miller added.

The 800-part exoskeleton is currently being built using carbon fiber plastics, which is strong enough to replicate and prove design, but not enough to be encumbering or too expensive, Miller said.

The program has used rapid 3-D prototyping as it refines the exoskeleton and has managed to cut what was expected to be a billion-dollar project “way back,” Miller said.

For now, the first prototype will be made of titanium, he said, which is lighter and stronger.

Building on the exoskeleton will be an electric actuation system to emulate muscles. The program will develop both upper- and lower-body actuation, Miler said, which is very hard to do, but both are needed.

The final layer of the suit is the armor. The military has mastered ballistic protection on the chest, back and head, but the legs, arms and face continue to lack appropriate protection, Miller said.

The suit can’t be completely armored head to toe because it would hinder movement too much, so positioning the armor is crucial. The current suit would likely have 26 pieces of armor.

The program is entertaining the idea of a removable mandible to cover the lower half of the face and is experimenting with ways to protect the entire face.

“The thing we haven’t gotten to yet is transparent ballistic material glass … that is not so thick you get [dizzy] and want to throw up all over the place,” Miller said.

The entire suit will be powered through a system on the back that is currently configured to use commercially available batteries. That method of power is limiting, but at least it’s not a suit that requires being plugged into the wall like experimental robotic suits of the past, Miller noted.

The power will not only control the suit but also a computer that processes a network of communications systems integrated into the helmet that feeds audio and imagery into some kind of head-up display, possibly at cheek-level, Miller said.

Much is left to be contemplated after the first prototype is built, and Miller stressed this is the first of many.

Questions have yet to be answered, such as how the suit could be employed operationally, how to get it to fit a variety of body types and how an operator would quickly get out of the suit if it broke down. Those would likely be answered once the science and technology piece ended and the program moved into an official program of record, according to Miller.

ACID TEST FOR SARAWAK DAP: CHEATING OR NOT, CAN ABANG JO & CO TAKE PUJUT AWAY ON JULY 4

NOMINATION for the Pujut by-election in Sarawak has been set for June 20 while polling will be on July 4, the Election Commission said today.
There will be no early voting, EC chairman Mohd Hashim Abdullah said.
EC received the notice from Sarawak Speaker Amor Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar that the Pujut state seat became vacant on May 16.
On May 12, then Pujut assemblyman Dr Ting Tong Choon was disqualified from the Sarawak legislative assembly after a motion to remove him was passed 70-10.
The motion was proposed by Sarawak International Trade and E-Commerce Minister Wong Soon Koh over claims that Ting held an Australian citizenship.
Ting said he had renounced his Australian citizenship before the state elections last year.

What’s Happening in the House of Prime Minister Najib Razak?

May 18, 2017

by http://www.malaysiakini.com

A Tug-a-war between Sirigar and Arul with Najib as Referee

Raja Petra Kamaruddin (RPK), who has been on the warpath against the opposition, has now trained his guns on Treasury Secretary-General Irwan Serigar Abdullah in the wake of the latter’s appointment as chairperson of TRX City Sdn Bhd and Bandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

The blogger’s vitriolic article on Irwan prompted speculation if Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s advisors are at odds with one another.

Despite reservations regarding the veracity of Raja Petra’s allegations, especially the more scandalous ones, PKR Vice-President Rafizi Ramli however believes the article indicated that there is competition among the premier’s key advisors on Bandar Malaysia.

“Clearly those who are Raja Petra’s benefactors are not happy with Irwan’s clout in dealing with the restructuring of 1MDB’s debts with regard to Bandar Malaysia,” he told Malaysiakini.

Rafizi said he considered Raja Petra to be the mouthpiece of a shadowy group of advisors around Najib. “So when Raja Petra attacked Irwan so viciously, my assessment is this is about one group of advisors against another group, both are influential around Najib,” he added.

Rafizi said that he does not believe that the disagreement of these advisors revolves around matters of “getting best value for the public either.”

“My opinion is Najib’s key advisors each have their own favourite consortium which they want to appoint as master developer of Bandar Malaysia. Given the GDV (Gross Development Value) of the project, there are billions ringgit worth of economic interest that benefit a lot of influential people around Najib,” he claimed.

In the article titled “Irwan and the Wanda deal”, Raja Petra claimed that it was the Treasury Secretary-General who leaked information to a news portal about the removal of 1MDB President Arul Kanda as chairperson of Bandar Malaysia and a board member of TRX City.

“To most this came as a surprise because Arul had done a good job over the last two years in turning around 1MDB and bringing it back to profitability and viability,” he said.

Bandar Malaysia Project

Raja Petra alleged that Irwan wanted to orchestrate another deal and Arul was an obstacle, who needed to be removed. He also questioned the reason cited for Arul’s removal from Bandar Malaysia and TRX City, which was “potential conflicts of interest”.

“What was Arul’s so-called ‘potential conflicts of interest’? ‘Potential conflicts of interest’ is actually a lame excuse and a farce,” he said.

The truth, alleged Raja Petra, was that Irwan wanted to derail the deal with The Iskandar Waterfront Holdings and China Rail Engineering Corp (IWH-CREC) consortium so that he could give it to the Dalian Wanda-Malton group instead.

Raja Petra also cautioned Najib about giving important tasks to certain people.“And if Najib is not careful this Bandar Malaysia-TRX matter might turn into a second disaster after 1MDB in 2014. Just as Arul finished cleaning up 1MDB and turned it back to profitability and viability, we are beginning to see another disaster looming over the horizon,” he added.

How will Irwan respond to the attack?

Meanwhile, Rafizi said it would be interesting to see how Irwan responds to this attack, adding that it was similar to Raja Petra’s accusation that the PKR Vice-President received money from businessman John Soh and was “enjoying with a harem of young boys.”

“The best way for Irwan to respond is to quickly come up with a statutory declaration denying everything and stating the truth as I immediately did 24 hours after Raja Petra accused me of receiving money from John Soh.

“More importantly, Irwan has to clear the confusion about what is really happening behind the scene wth regards to Bandar Malaysia because it is public money and we end up paying for it

“I am amused at all this because in spite of Najib’s confident attitude that he is in full control, clearly all is not well in the house,” he added. Malaysiakini has contacted Irwan for comment, but has yet to receive a response.

On May 3,TRX City, which is owned by the Ministry of Finance, announced that the share sale agreement (SSA) entered into on Dec 31, 2015 with IWH-CREC on Bandar Malaysia had lapsed.

“This is because, despite repeated extensions being granted, IWH-CREC failed to meet the payment obligations outlined in the conditions precedent under the SSA.”As a result, the share sale agreement between the parties stands null and void with immediate effect,” it had said.

IWH-CREC claimed that TRX did not reveal all the details, and was consulting its lawyers over the matter. Almost immediately after the cancellation, Najib began “courting” China’s Dalian Wanda group – China’s biggest property developer – as a potential investor for Bandar Malaysia. However, following Najib’s recent visit to Beijing, it was reported that IWH-CREC might play a role in the Bandar Malaysia project.

According to Star Online, which quoted a source, Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang told Najib that China hopes the deal on Bandar Malaysia would remain unchanged, and Najib might have to take the Chinese wishes into consideration.

Najib’s secret weapons
By Mariam Mokhtar21 February, 2017No Comments

Najib Abdul Razak has two powerful secret weapons to control Muslims, in particular the Malays. It is for Malaysians – yes you – to destroy them!

He is scared of “Aunties” like Maria Chin Abdullah, the leader of Bersih, whom he arrested and placed for 10 days in solitary confinement. He hounded the dance choreographer, Bilqis Hijjas, who released yellow balloons which landed close to him. Umno-Baru thugs, thrashed Zunar’s exhibition, in Penang. The same thugs which stormed the Penang state assembly in 2014.
Najib uses the state machinery, like the inspector-general of police (IGP), the civil service and the judiciary, to do his bidding.

THE ON-OFF SECRET WEAPON

One secret weapon is the PAS president, Hadi Awang.

When Najib has bad news to hide, Hadi’s hudud bill is used to maximum effect, to put the fear of God in Malays.

Last May, The Wall Street Journal revealed that Good Star Limited was owned by Jho Low. Several hundred millions of ringgits of taxpayers’ money had been sent to Good Star, and then redirected to Najib’s personal account.

Najib needed a distraction. Enter Hadi’s hudud bill.

He also used this bill, to distract us, when we were angry over Maria’s detention, last November.

THREE SETS OF LAWS

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Azalina Othman Said, moved Hadi’s  bill from the bottom of the list, to the top of the pile, last year.

With her legal background, Azalina should have known that this bill goes against the Federal Constitution.

A nation cannot be ruled by three sets of laws. Civil law, syariah law and one for the elite.

“YOU HELP ME, I HELP YOU” IN KELANTAN

Najib will collude with Hadi, and use Islam as the proverbial whip.

Umno-Baru hopes to be returned to power, but they need Hadi’s help. The hudud bill, in Kelantan, is the price Umno-Baru must pay for this help; but be warned, hudud is like a cancer, if not excised, it will spread throughout the country.

Muslims are afraid to speak out, with the millstone of Islam weighing them down.

MOST DANGEROUS WEAPON

Social media is perhaps the only place Malaysians can voice their frustrations easily.  Najib may think he is strong, because the majority of Malays are in denial about Umno-Baru.

Their silence is Najib’s best weapon.

You cannot remain silent anymore.

From Mariam Mokhtar Blog - Heard of “Russian Roulette”? Now is the time of year for “Jakim Roulette”.

This is the time of year, when major food businesses, manufacturers, importers, and retail outlets, are forced to play “Russian Roulette” by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM). One unlucky major food operator will probably find that its halal certificate has been revoked.

This period of uncertainty also means that the fasting month and Hari Raya are near.

Mahathir: Jakim mahu paksa umat Islam ikut caranya

Let us look at the secrets of JAKIM’s success.

First. Like any successful entrepreneur, JAKIM thinks big.
The international café operator, “Secret Recipe” was 2015’s fall guy.  JAKIM’s tactic for establishing its credentials as “The Enforcer” of religious piety is not a secret. In May 2017, Secret Recipe’s halal certification was revoked (later reinstated). The hawker under the rain-tree would not be such a profitable option. Big is beautiful.

Second. Diversification of activities.

In the past, JAKIM revoked individual items, because non-halal ingredients were “found” in them. JAKIM can’t keep claiming contamination by porcine products, every year. So, its new tactic was to revoke Secret Recipe’s halal certificate because of poor cleanliness.

Third. Meet the public.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Jamil Khir Baharom, often justifies JAKIM’s reasons for revoking halal certificates.

In 2015, Jamil said, “Halal certification is not just about two prohibited items in Islam, that is pork and dogs.” He claimed that Secret Recipe had “cleanliness issues” in its central kitchen.

Fourth: Blinding us with BIG WORDS.

Jamil said, “Halal certificates cover everything from farm to table…. “He claimed that during the inspection of any processing facility, factors like ‘toyyiban’, which governs good manufacturing practices (GMP) are critical. ‘Toyyiban’ is the new catch word.

Jamil blamed the Secret Recipe facility, at Taman Mayang, in Petaling Jaya for failing to adhere to ‘toyyiban’ requirements.

Fifth. Self importance.

Jamil, like other Malaysian ministers, thinks that his particular department is best, not just in Malaysia, but in the world. Jamil said, “That is why Malaysia’s halal certificate is sought after and liked by foreign countries because we are strict on two factors, cleanliness and halal issues.”

Funny how he forgets that some people exploit halal issues, to take advantage of the rakyat and make lots of money.

Sixth. Double standards.

Jamil claimed that JAKIM is strict on cleanliness and halal issues. If that were the case, then 97% of the restaurants and food outlets in Malaysia would be shut-down or have their halal certificates revoked.

Malaysia’s other famous export is double standards. Both Jamil’s and JAKIM’s eyes are closed to any hygiene and cleanliness issues in Malay stalls.

Seventh. Hypocrisy.

If the restaurant owner or food vendor, is a Muslim, it is automatically assumed that their restaurant is halal.

A Chinese restaurant could have a halal certificate, but some Malays will refuse to be served by Chinese waiters, because they are afraid of microscopic contamination of porcine products, from the Chinese waiters’ hands, despite them being clean.

Eighth. Abuse of power.

JAKIM is overstepping its authority. Inspections for cleanliness should be the prerogative of the Ministry of Health (MOH). Cleanliness and hygiene are not just the preserve of the Muslims. If not stopped, JAKIM will extend its authority into other areas. They already have!

Ninth.  Secret agenda.

Why are porcine products found in foods, in the run-up to Hari Raya?  If a bumi crony company is starting production, its Western rival will fall foul of JAKIM’s inspection.

Whilst GoldenChurn Butter was off the shelves in Malaysia, one of the SCORE palm-oil derivatives had a clean sweep of the market. The opening of the Hershey factory in Iskandar allegedly coincided with the ban of Cadbury chocolates. (In a similar fashion, Tabasco and HP sauces were also held to ransom, by JAKIM.)

Sobbing Muslims were paraded before television cameras demanding blood transfusions and compensation for their “contaminated” blood.

JAKIM thrives on “drama minggu ini” to move the ignorant masses.

It is not known if Cadbury received any compensation, from the government, for the “incorrect” chemical analyses, by the government laboratory and for the premature announcement by a JAKIM official.

Tenth.  Name changing.

JAKIM said that some foods will confuse Muslim tourists. Thus hot dogs, root beer, beef bacon and hamburgers had to be renamed.

JAKIM demands we obey their orders, but they still won’t say how it spends RM1 billion of taxpayers’ money.

From Mariam Mokhtar Blog - Would you accept, or offer bribes?

Seven years ago, I asked the 50-year old father of four college going students, about the scandals rocking our nation. He seemed unperturbed. He said that if given half a chance, he would accept bribes, if it would help him put his children through higher education. (and pay for his high maintenance wife.)

He said, “Do you know how hard I have to work, to pay the college fees? When I read about the millions of ringgits accepted by our MPs, I, too, want a share of that money.”

This man, who will remain anonymous, is a highly trained professional, enjoys a senior position in a GLC, counts many Datuks, Tan Sris and royalty as his friends, and is widely travelled.

His father is a retired teacher, his mother is a housewife and they could easily be the average Malaysian family, with a terraced house and one car.

So, what could have persuaded this professional, that taking or giving bribes, is acceptable? Do his children think in a similar fashion? Has this once rational man, with a down-to-earth father, become jaded by the high cost of living, so that he is prepared to be part of the corrupt scene?

That is why the recent revelations about graft, conducted among a cross section of our youth, is neither surprising nor unexpected. If anything, it should fill us with fear, and dread for the future. These are the people, who will one day lead the nation, or at least be part of the society of tomorrow.

SHOCKING MACC STUDY INVOLVING UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Last year, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) conducted a study involving 1,000 university students. The MACC chief commissioner, Dzulkifli Ahmad said 16 per cent of the students, who took part in the Corruption Prevention Action Effectiveness Perception Study, were prepared to accept or offer bribes, to avoid penalties.

The figures for 2015 and 2014, are 10.7 and 11.3 per cent. respectively

There was a slight rise in the number of students who were preprared to offer bribes. In 2015, only 17.4 per cent would offer bribes, but in 2016, this figure increased to 18.2.

The news about senior civil servants and politicians hoarding money in the attic, is too enticing. Today’s millenials desire to own the latest watch, the imported fast car, or go on exotic holidays, without doing an ounce of work.

TARNISHED MALAYSIAN IMAGE

In many parts of the world, middle-men are no longer used, but in many third world countries, and in Malaysia, there is a heavy dependence on the use of local intermediaries, to handle transactions. Being well connected to key officials and politicians, means that these agents will use illicit payments, to secure the contracts and easily procure various permits.

Our parents and teachers can only teach us so much, but when students read about prominent people in respected positions, and politicians being convicted of bribery and corruption, what sort of message does this send to our young?

An English expat working in Malaysia said, “I was speeding and had too much to drink, but  when I was stopped, I just paid the policeman a few hundred ringgits. It was either that or be sacked. The car is essential to my work. Of course, I would not dream of bribing a cop, in my own country.”

So what sort of image is Malaysia give our youth, and the rest of the world?

From Mariam Mokhtar Blog - Slapping incident: Do some Malays know the meaning of dignity?

A film director David Teo gets slapped by an attention-seeking actor, Sulaiman Yassin, and some Malay NGOs want Teo to make a public apology. Nothing was said about the disgusting behaviour of the man who slapped Teo.

Are some Malays suffering from a life sentence of self-denial? They assume that everyone else in Malaysia owes them a living, or an explanation, or an apology.

It is time they came to terms with the real world. They need to exorcise their inner demons. Work will not kill them, and they need to wean themselves from the entitlement culture, which they expect will nurse them from cradle to grave. Good manners will not kill them either, somewhere along the line, Malay values gave way to the sense of entitlement and grabbing everything for themselves mentality

MALAY DIGNITY RALLY

Remember the Malay Dignity Rally (Himpunan Maruah Melayu) held in September 2015? Malays throughout Malaysia were ashamed to be associated with these bigoted, Umno-Baru Malays who claim that they held the red-shirt rally to uphold Malay dignity.

This rally had nothing to do with Malay dignity. This rally was held primarily to distract us from the 1MDB scandal.

What dignity is associated with being insolent, destroying public property, littering and insulting other races, including the Chinese journalist who was doing his job?

What dignity is there in transporting the elderly, from the villages in other states, to boost attendance at the Kuala Lumpur rally? Taxpayers’ money was probably used to facilitate the transportation, meals and pocket money.

A friend, who once worked in the public bank of which the chairman was a senior Umno-Baru politician alleged that he had to sign blank cheques, to pay for the mobilisation of the participants in many of the Umno-Baru events. How many other secrets do the staff of similar organisations, hold?

What dignity does the Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos, think he upholds? He claimed that Malay NGOs were compelled to rise, because the “DAP had brainwashed the Chinese in the Bersih 4 rally” and had insulted the Malay leaders.

Comment

Harith M. YahyaThese are Malays whose heads and skulls has been brainwashed by UMNO and irresponsible leaders for sixty solid years and were accepted without questioning. This is a clear prove of a successful UMNO policy in instilling fears to the Malays that if they don't stay behind the party and support it at all costs then the Malays will be beggars in their own country. A policy which is bad for M'sia but suited UMNO very well.

Jamal is just another thug who enjoys a Datuk title and other perks thrown at him by the Umno-Baru leadership. He is Umno-Baru’s poster boy and party whip. His role is to mobilise the thugs under him and threaten the peace.

Jamal cannot see the damaging effects from corruption, injustice and abuse of power. His values are warped. He cannot distinguish between right and wrong. The DAP must be doing a good job of enhancing community relations and rebuilding the community, if bigots like Jamal feel threatened.

In what way does Jamal think that Malays are threatened? The majority of public sector jobs, the armed forces, housing applications and handouts from the government, are reserved for Malays.

OTHER EXAMPLES OF UMNO-BARU MALAY “DIGNITY”
What dignity was Ali Rustam thinking of, when he said that the red-shirt rally was held to uphold Malay dignity?

He has been involved in money politics, and during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Malacca, it was alleged that he used the machinery of the state, to hold his son’s grand wedding. When challenged he claimed that he had received sponsorship from various companies. His critics asked, “What was given in exchange for this sponsorship?”

Many of Ali Rustam’s harebrained schemes for Malacca, which cost several hundred million ringgits, often failed because of poor planning or poor maintenance, such as the monorail project.

What dignity was Ahmad Maslan and Ismail Sabri Yaacob thinking of, when they supported this red-shirt rally?

Ismail’s claim to fame is the blaming of the Chinese community for the inability of the Malay to grasp the basics of business, and asking Malays to boycott Chinese traders.

It is doubtful if any of these senior Umno-Baru Malay politicians understand the meaning of dignity. To them, dignity means the ability to shout the loudest and make the crudest insults and profanities.

Lower down the pecking order, some daft Malays emulate their behaviour by slapping people.

From Mariam Mokhtar Blog - Farouk A Peru: Sitting Near Dr Maza’s Big Head Costs RM30,000!

Islamocapitalism is a phenomenon where Islamic elements are used to make obscene amounts of money.

In Malaysia, Islam is big business. From the tahfiz schools to Ustaz Ayam’s quran-friendly chickens, to tacky reality TV shows (Imam Muda), to dramas filled with absurd theology (Tanah Kubur), Islam has becomes the brand through which many sell their religion.

Now it is even possible to get VVIP level Islam! Platinum card level Islam, if you will. From useless flights into the Malaysian skies to learn the Quran, to pointless Islamic cruises, it costs a lot of money to get premium quality guidance.

Luckily the guidance from Allah is free.

This Ramadhan, with the right amount of money, you can purchase a front row table at the Iftar Perdana IQ Malaysia.

It is a premium event where a table can cost from RM 30K, to 20K, to 10K, all the way down to 1.5K. Obviously, the more you pay, the closer you will get to sit with the stars of the show.

SUPER STAR CELEB STATUS
The big star is obviously the Mufti of Perlis, Dr Maza. Perhaps he can educate us how Hindus worship cows, but how Muslims do not actually worship the Kaaba!

Another notable Wahabi is also among the ‘big heads’, Rozami Ramle. Rozaimi recently told Malaysians that hudud law should be applied to everyone, Muslim or otherwise. A true Islamofascist.

Supporters of this Islamocapitalist event would say ‘but it’s all for a good cause’. To them, I ask this question – if people were sincerely seeking God’s grace, would they need to sit with these Wahabi big heads in order to donate to the needy?

And that’s not all, how much are these fake scholars getting for their time? Are they doing it for the sake of Allah?

I would also ask this question – what if people don’t have money to be in the audience of these scholars? Does one need RM30,000 in order to have personal time with these Wahabis?

How many dirhams did you need to sit with Prophet Muhammad? Apparently, the Prophet used to sit with the poor a lot.

According to Sunni scholars, he was actually chastised by God for turning away from a lowly blind man when he preferred to deal with important folks (The Quran, Chapter 80 Verse 1-10).

I guess our big head Wahabis, experts though they are about hadiths, forgot about this…..

Zahid denies ‘Turkish operatives’ helped in arrest of Turks

Read comments in Red below at the bottom of the article

DPM says three Turks deported were members of a banned organisation in Turkey and wanted to use Malaysia to launch a new movement.

Zahid-Hamidi_turki_600SHAH ALAM: Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has denied a claim that Turkish operatives were involved in the arrests of three Turkish citizens residing in Malaysia.

“Not true. The news is false. I know,” he told a press conference after a programme at Universiti Teknologi Mara here, today.

Yesterday, a portal called Turkey Purge cited a report by the country’s news agency, Anadolu, that claimed officials from the Turkish National Intelligence Organisation (MIT), an anti-terror police unit and an anaesthetist were “actively involved in the forced return of Malaysian-based Gulen followers” last week.

The agency was referring to the three Turkish nationals – Turgay Karaman, Ihsan Aslan and Ismet Ozcelik – who were detained by Malaysian police earlier this month and deported to Turkey last week.

According to Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar, the three were believed to have been involved in activities related to the Fetullah Terrorist Organisation (Feto).

Turkey Purge, citing Anadolu further, said the Turkish operatives’ involvement were kept secret, and that even their families were unaware of it.

Zahid when asked about the claim, insisted that Malaysian authorities had arrested the trio after the police obtained information from the Regional Digital Counter-Messaging Centre (CMC), and other international intelligence agencies.

“With the information received, we found out that the trio were members of an organisation banned in Turkey, and wanted to use Malaysia as a place to launch a new movement outside Turkey.

“If we give them long-term protection, it will tarnish our country’s image. We cannot let that happen,” said Zahid, who is also home minister. ( Very true but why then you are habouring a confirm terrorist named Zakir Naik who is wanted in many countries )
