NOMINATION for the Pujut by-election in Sarawak has been set for June 20 while polling will be on July 4, the Election Commission said today.
There will be no early voting, EC chairman Mohd Hashim Abdullah said.
EC received the notice from Sarawak Speaker Amor Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar that the Pujut state seat became vacant on May 16.
On May 12, then Pujut assemblyman Dr Ting Tong Choon was disqualified from the Sarawak legislative assembly after a motion to remove him was passed 70-10.
The motion was proposed by Sarawak International Trade and E-Commerce Minister Wong Soon Koh over claims that Ting held an Australian citizenship.
Ting said he had renounced his Australian citizenship before the state elections last year.
