Major roads in the city will be closed on Sunday in conjunction with the Standard Chartered KL Marathon.
Among the major highways include the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (Duke) and the Ampang Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (Akleh).The Duke highway will be closed from 2.30am to 10.30am, while Akleh will be closed from 1.30am until 11.30am.
A total of 35,878 participants are expected to run along the 42km stretch.
City Traffic Police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nadzri Hussain said those planning to enter into the city should refer to navigation app Waze.
“We have plotted the road closures on Waze and it will automatically divert motorists to an alternative route to reach the city.
"We advise the public to use the Light Rail Transit (LRT) or Monorail to avoid encountering road closures and congestion,” he said.
Mohd Nadzri also advised those in the city to use pedestrians bridges when crossing roads to avoid clashing with participants.
He also warned motorists to avoid parking illegally along the closures or roadsides as their vehicles will be towed and 130 policemen will be on duty.
"The organisers will conduct clean-ups on the highway after the marathon ends and this will take about an hour. Plan your journey properly as traffic congestion is expected in the city," he said.
Roads affected are Jalan Raja, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Ampang, Jalan P.Ramlee, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim, Jalan Langgak Tunku, Jalan Bukit Tunku, Jalan Tunku, Jalan Tun Ismail, Jalan Dato Onn, Jalan Sultan Sallehuddin, Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Damansara, Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar, Jalan Kinabalu and Jalan Sultan Hishamudin.
