Chinese president pleads for peace as Trump warns the US is sending an 'armada' to North Korea and tells Kim Jong-un: 'You're doing the wrong thing!'

Chinese leader Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump have spoken by phone in an apparent effort to avoid further escalation after Trump deployed the aircraft carrier-led strike group in a show of force to the Korean peninsula. The US president last night repeatedly accused Kim Jong-Un of doing 'the wrong thing'  as he talked up the power of the fleet heading towards the Korean peninsula. China has made clear its frustration with Pyongyang's stubbornness but Beijing's priority remains preventing any military flare-up that could bring chaos and instability to its doorstep. In his phone call with Trump, Xi stressed that China 'advocates resolving the issue through peaceful means,' the foreign ministry said. China is said to have moved 150,000 troops to its border to deal with a possible influx of North Korean refugees amid fears Trump may strike Kim Jong-un following the surprise US missile attack on Syria last week.

Philippine troops kill Abu Sayyaf commander blamed for beheadings

Manila – Philippine troops battling militants in a central province killed a key Abu Sayyaf commander who had been blamed for the beheadings of two Canadians and a German hostage and was apparently attempting another kidnapping mission, the military chief said Wednesday.
Military chief of staff Gen. Eduardo Ano told The Associated Press that troops have recovered and identified the remains of Moammar Askali, who used the nom de guerre Abu Rami, in the scene of the battle in a far-flung coastal village on Bohol island, where five other Abu Sayyaf gunmen were killed in the fighting Tuesday, along with four soldiers and policemen.
Ano said troops took the picture of Askali after his death and that captured Abu Sayyaf militants identified the young militant leader.
“This is a major blow to the Abu Sayyaf,” Ano told The AP. “If they have further plans to kidnap innocent people somewhere, they will now have to think twice.”
The military chief said Askali had led several of militants who traveled by speedboats from their jungle lairs in southern Sulu province to Bohol province in an apparent bid to carry out another kidnapping in a region that is popular for its beach resorts and wildlife.
Sporadic gunbattles between the remaining Abu Sayyaf militants and government forces continued Wednesday, military officials said.
At least 10 people has been killed since Tuesday in the fighting in Bohol, far from the extremists’ southern jungle bases and in a region where the US government has warned that the gunmen may be plotting kidnappings, officials said.

Military officials said at least six gunmen, three soldiers and a policeman had died in the ongoing gunbattle in a village in the coastal town of Inabanga. The island province lies near Cebu province, a bustling commercial and tourism hub.
National police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said troops and policemen attacked the gunmen early Tuesday in Inabanga, where the gunmen had arrived aboard three boats. The gunmen took cover in three houses as the firefight broke out.
Government forces seized control of two of the houses, and the rest of the gunmen either were in the third house or had fled the area, dela Rosa told reporters.
It’s the Abu Sayyaf’s first known attempt to carry out ransom kidnappings deep in the heartland of the central Philippines, far from its jungle lairs in the southern provinces of Sulu and Basilan.
Bohol island, where one of the world’s smallest primates, called tarsiers, are found, drawing many tourists, lies about 640 kilometers (397 miles) southeast of Manila. Bohol is about an hour away by boat from Cebu province, across the busy Cebu Strait, which is crisscrossed daily by ferries, cargo ships and fishing vessels.
Abu Sayyaf militants have crossed the sea border with Malaysia on powerful speedboats and kidnapped scores of foreign tourists in past years. In 2001, they sailed as far as western Palawan province, where they seized 20 people, including three Americans, from a resort.
“If we were not able to monitor this and engage them with our government forces, it’s a cause for alarm if they were able to carry out kidnappings,” dela Rosa said.
Ano said military intelligence operatives had been trying to track down the movements of the suspected militants, who first traveled from Sulu to southern Zamboanga peninsula. Intelligence later indicated the gunmen landed ashore in Inabanga, prompting military and police officials to deploy their forces, he said.
The gunmen traveled on board motor boats along a river to Inabanga’s Napo village, where government forces assaulted them, military spokesman Col. Edgard Arevalo said, adding that troops recovered four rifles and a homemade bomb from the slain gunmen. -AP

Arunachal Pradesh residents unhappy with India's illegal rule, want to return: Chinese state media

The Dalai Lama's recent visit to Arunachal Pradesh, as it is called by the  illegal Indian occupiers, has put Southern Tibet region of China in the spotlight, the paper read.

China's State media on Wednesday continued its attacks on India over the Dalai Lama's Arunachal Pradesh visit, claiming Arunachal residents were suffering under what it called 'India's illegal rule'.
The official China Daily slammed India and said, "Under India's illegal rule, the residents of Southern Tibet [as China refers to Arunachal Pradesh] live difficult lives, face various kinds of discrimination, and look forward to returning to China."
"The Dalai Lama's recent visit to Arunachal Pradesh, as it is called by its illegal Indian occupiers, has once again put the Southern Tibet region of China in the spotlight," the paper read.
"The region was separated from China by the so-called McMahon Line in the early 1900s, a line the then foreign secretary of the British India, Henry McMahon, proposed as part of the Simla Accord, a treaty that was never validated", the paper read, slamming the Simla accord.

DALAI LAMA BETRAYED TIBETAN PEOPLE: CHINESE MEDIA

The paper also attacked the Dalai Lama over his visit to Arunachal, claiming "he wants to sell the land to a foreign country."
"He just hopes to add weight to his identity as a 'son of India' by selling the territory to India, ignoring the trouble he is causing for the settlement of China-India border issues, regional peace and stability," read the commentary, authored by Xu Rao, a strategic expert in Beijing, accusing the Dalai Lama of betraying regional peace.
The commentary further read, "His latest visit to the region, at the invitation of the Indian government, shows that he can't wait to give away Tawang district, the holy land of China's Tibet where the sixth Dalai Lama was born, in exchange for India's support for the survival of his separatist group. His trip is testimony to his betrayal of himself, the people, the country, as well as regional peace."
The paper accused the Dalai Lama of betraying the Tibetan people in his eagerness to please India, as he is dependent on the country for his living.

TIME RUNS OUT FOR ZAHID – OUST OR BE OUSTED: CAN DPM BE SO FOOLISH AS TO BELIEVE NAJIB CAMP’S SPIN HISHAM’S TO BE MADE DPM TO ZAHID’S PM AS NAJIB WANTS TO RETIRE’ AFTER GE14

TIME RUNS OUT FOR ZAHID – OUST OR BE OUSTED: CAN DPM BE SO FOOLISH AS TO BELIEVE NAJIB CAMP’S SPIN HISHAM’S TO BE MADE DPM TO ZAHID’S PM AS NAJIB WANTS TO RETIRE’ AFTER GE14

KUALA LUMPUR ― Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has expressed support for Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein over his appointment as Minister with Special Functions in the Prime Minister’s Department, effective today.
“I support the new portfolio assigned to assist the Prime Minister in missions and special tasks to strengthen bilateral relations (with other countries) and also specific tasks that will lead to the smooth administration of the government,” he said in a statement today.

Ahmad Zahid said the appointment was spot on and expressed confidence that Hishammuddin would be up to the task.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced the appointment in a statement today.
Najib said Hishammuddin also remains as Defence Minister.
MEANWHILE, according to Malaysiakini:
Even pro-Umno portal speculates on appointment, offers different take
With speculation rife on the implications of Hishammuddin Hussein’s appointment as a special functions minister on Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s political future, a pro-Umno portal has also coughed up its own take on the matter.
While some observers claim the appointment could frustrate Zahid’s ambition of becoming prime minister, MyKMU.net however suggested that Hishammuddin is being prepped for the number two post instead.
The portal’s article is a peculiar twist since MyKMU has often defended Najib’s decisions and trained its guns on those questioning it as opposed to offering a speculation itself.
Instead, the portal said the lack of explanation surrounding the sudden appointment, apart from Hishammuddin being roped in to assist his cousin, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, was bound to fuel speculation.
“So it opens (the door) to all sorts of speculations, especially regarding unity in the party (Umno) and government,” read the article titled “Perlantikan Hishammuddin sebahagian pelan peralihan kuasa atau sekadar keperluan pentadbiran? (Hishammuddin’s appointment, part of a transition of power plan or an administrative need?).”
MyKMU said although the government had appointed special functions ministers in the past such as Daim Zainuddin and Mustapha Mohamed, the situation involving Hishammuddin was different.
`
Those appointed before, it noted, were not elected representatives or cabinet members, and were brought in as special functions ministers to help the prime minister, especially in economic matters.
“On the contrary, Hishammuddin is already in the cabinet and a senior ministry,” it stated in reference to his defence portfolio.
According to the portal, the biggest question, in the minds of political observers is whether Hishammuddin was brought into the Prime Minister’s Department to strengthen Najib, or if the move was part of a transition of power plan.
The portal said the move could also be viewed as being part of Najib’s plan to step down after the next general election.

“Therefore, Najib brings in the Umno vice-president (Hishammuddin) as a step to facilitate the process of the team comprising Zahid and Hishammuddin being elected as prime minister and deputy prime minister respectively if BN wins the next general election.
“If the prime minister has a ‘transition of power plan’ in view of the coming general election, he wants to send a clear indication that Hishammuddin should be elevated as Zahid’s deputy,” it added.
On the same note, MyKMU said some viewed the appointment as an effort to consolidate Najib’s position.
“Perhaps the prime minister sees a political imbalance which requires Hishammuddin to be in the Prime Minister’s Department to strengthen his position,” it added.
Not dismissing the administrative angle, the portal said there is a possibility the appointment is to facilitate the relations between various security agencies under the Prime Minister’s Department and Defence Ministry.
“But until there is clear information, this appointment will remain as a big mystery and lead to political discussions for several weeks to come,” it added.

AS EXPECTED ZAHID PLAYED OUT BY NAJIB: HISHAM NOW THE 2ND MOST POWERFUL MAN IN UMNO-BN GOVT EVEN THOUGH HE’S NOT DPM

PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli has speculated that the appointment of Hishammuddin Hussein as a special functions minister does not bode well for Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s political ambition.
Speaking to Malaysiakini soon after the announcement was made, Rafizi described the move as being tantamount to Hishammuddin securing a direct endorsement from his cousin, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

“This is either because Hishammuddin intends to challenge Zahid for the Umno deputy president post or Hishammuddin is struggling to defend his position as Umno vice-president,” he added.
Rafizi claimed that based on information from his Umno sources, Hishammuddin was trailing behind Rural and Regional Development Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob as well as Sports and Youth Minister Khairy Jamaluddin in the race for vice-presidency.
“Either way, this is not a good sign for Zahid because a promotion like this – a minister with two portfolios – is a direct sign of endorsement,” he added in reference to Hishammuddin’s current position as defence minister.
Rafizi also believes the public would not accept the appointment, as it meant that Hishammuddin would be drawing double salaries.
He also speculated on the possible cracks within Umno over this development.
“As far as national politics is concerned, small cracks within Umno may translate into a much bigger split closer to election because Zahid and Hisham, each of them have their list of candidates to contest.
“If Najib endorses Hishammuddin openly like this, it can mean Hishammuddin will have more of his people on the candidacy list to prepare for the internal party election that will give an upper hand to him compared to Zahid.
“Either way this may mean a lot of sabotage and internal fights within Umno. It means the contest for GE14 is as open as ever,” he added.
Earlier today, Najib announced Hishammuddin’s appointment, which takes immediate effect.
The source said Hishammuddin’s tasks would include assisting the prime minister and deputy prime minister, but did not elaborate on this.
Meanwhile, DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang said Hishammuddin has become the second most powerful person in the Umno and BN with his appointment.
“Hishammuddin may not be the deputy prime minister but he has clearly become the second most powerful person in the Umno/BN government,” Lim said in a statement today.
He also claimed Hishammuddin’s appointment also marks that Najib had lost confidence not only in Zahid, but also in other Umno stalwarts.

A Malaysian Pilot’s Sexual Fantasy Turned Sour As Now He Is Being Convicted Of Raping!!!

A Malaysian Pilot’s Sexual Fantasy Turned Sour As Now He Is Being Convicted Of Raping!!!

This is why you should never turn your sexual fantasy and desires into a reality (with a stranger)!
According to The Star, a Malaysian pilot was found guilty of repeatedly raping a woman after he broke into her home in Perth, Australia, 22 years ago!
Now 50, Alfred Gerard Eravelly, had snipped the fly screen on the victim’s bathroom window and made his way into the house in the early hours of March 9, 1996.
During his criminal act, it was reported that he had worn a stocking over his head, tied her up and sexually assaulted her. During his rapist act, he left crucial evidence (his DNA) which led to his arrest.
Apparently, he had this fantasy of breaking into a home and raping a woman and decided to act it out but came to a realisation that it was wrong and not enjoyable at the very least. Seriously???
Not only did he rape her, but prior to that, he also told officials that he had been peeping on her through a window since he was only staying 2km away from the victim at that time. Such a creep!
Sometime in February last year, he was arrested when he flew back to Sydney, Australia from Malaysia. Almost instantaneously Eravelly was handed over to Perth. In total, he was charged with 5 counts of aggravated sexual penetration without consent and 1 count each of burglary, unlawful detention and unlawful wounding.
Now, you must be wondering how on earth did someone with such history successfully became an airline pilot right?
Well, according to the source, during his initial interview, he actually told them what had happened but it was off the record. He claimed that he dated the woman and tied her up as part of a kinky consensual sex.
Honestly, such an embarrassing and bad move! Eravelly who now is a father of two was claimed to have met the victim at a bar and had a brief consensual sexual relationship but things quickly turned sour as he tried to blackmail her for cash as he was a cash-strapped aviation student back then.
It was reported that Eravelly will be receiving his punishment on 22nd June later this year.

Jakarta’s Christian governor, Muslim rival in tight election race

Jakarta’s Christian governor, Muslim rival in tight election race
 | April 12, 2017

Anies Baswedan enjoyed support primarily because of his Islamic faith, while Purnama was popular due to his record in office.

JAKARTA: The Christian governor of Jakarta, Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, and his Muslim opponent are neck and neck in the race to lead Indonesia’s capital, an opinion poll showed on Wednesday, a week ahead of the hard fought vote.
The election campaign – which has been among the most divisive in the city’s history – has been marred by religious and ethnic tension over the blasphemy trial of the incumbent Purnama, who is accused of insulting Islam.

Purnama was on 46.9 percent of the sample vote, trailing his rival Anies Baswedan by 1 percentage point in one of the first opinion polls published since the two candidates made it through a first round election in mid-February.

A candidate needs a simple majority to win.
Pollster Saiful Mujani Research Center (SMRC) said the survey of 800 respondents showed Baswedan enjoyed support primarily because of his Islamic faith, while Purnama was popular due to his record in office.

Nearly 90 percent of Indonesia’s 250 million population is Muslim, but the country recognizes six religions and is home to sizeable communities of Christians, Hindus and those adhering to traditional beliefs.

The state ideology, Pancasila, enshrines religious diversity in an officially secular system.
Purnama, who is Jakarta’s first ethnic Chinese and Christian governor, offended Muslim groups when he made comments last year about his opponents’ use of the Islamic holy book, the Koran, in political campaigning.

Since then, Muslims, led by hardline groups, have held mass rallies to call for Purnama to be sacked, and to urge voters not to elect a non-Muslim. The rallies have raised concerns about growing religious intolerance in the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation.
Purnama has apologized for his comments and denied any wrongdoing. He faces up to four years in prison if found guilty.

Judges hearing the case decided this week to adjourn the trial until after voting day, after police and prosecutors asked for a delay because of security concerns.

IGP: All security agency armouries being audited

IGP: All security agency armouries being audited
 | April 12, 2017
The auditing exercises are being carried out to ensure that cases of stolen weapons do not recur, says Khalid Abu Bakar.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and other security agencies are carrying out audit inspections at all their armouries to ensure that the weapons are in good working order and not missing.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar said the auditing exercises were being carried out to ensure that cases of stolen weapons did not recur.
”We fear that if irresponsible groups lay their hands on the weapons, then the authorities themselves would be threatened.
“The 26 rifles belonging to Rela (People’s Volunteer Corps) which went missing earlier have been recovered while 12 suspects who stole the rifles have been detained and will be charged in court,” he told reporters after attending the PDRM monthly assembly at Bukit Aman today.
On March 26, police confirmed that 26 rifles belonging to the Rela were found missing after an audit was carried out.
Twelve people, aged between 40 and 60, were detained in the northern part of the country, including Rela members suspected of being involved in the sale of rifles belonging to corps recently.

‘WE ARE LIVING LIKE A DOG’: REDUCED TO SECOND-CLASS CITIZEN IN HER OWN COUNTRY, A MALAYSIA CHINESE SPEAKS OUT

‘WE ARE LIVING LIKE A DOG’: REDUCED TO SECOND-CLASS CITIZEN IN HER OWN COUNTRY, A MALAYSIA CHINESE SPEAKS OUT

With an election looming and the 1MDB scandal still hanging over Najib Razak’s head, the Redshirt movement has proved a useful pawn in silencing dissent.
On November 19 (2016), before they were scoured from the streets of Kuala Lumpur by water cannons wielded by armoured riot police, a mob of red-draped men charged toward the capital’s Chinatown. Ostensibly organised as a pro-government response to Bersih 5, the latest anti-corruption demonstration led by the Coalition for Free and Fair Elections (Bersih), the counter-protest quickly descended into a nationalist rally, with slurs chanted against Malaysia’s ethnic Chinese minority.

Led by United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) division chief Jamal Yunos, the so-called Redshirt movement describes itself as a defender of “Malay dignity” in the face of what it claims are largely Chinese-driven protests to overthrow a democratically elected government. Dominated by the nativist UMNO party, Malaysia’s ruling Barisan Nasional coalition government has been wracked by accusations of corruption, incompetence and increasingly totalitarian crackdowns on their critics, as movements such as Bersih struggle for even the most meagre electoral reforms. Promising to meet protest with protest, the Redshirts’ response to the November Bersih 5 demonstrations was punctuated by pledges of violent reprisal against those marching on the wrong side of the police barrier. And it is in this threat, experts say, that the guiding hand behind the Redshirt resurgence, after a year of relative quiet, is laid bare.
Ross Tapsell, a lecturer and researcher at Australian National University’s College of Asia and the Pacific, said the Redshirt movement had been cynically created to drive a wedge between Malaysian voters.
“The Redshirts and their backers are trying to polarise Malaysian politics further, mostly on ethnic and religious grounds, by claiming the Bersih supporters, or ‘Yellowshirts’, are predominantly opposition voters of Chinese heritage, and the Redshirts are the ‘pro-Malay’ group,” he said.

Najib Razak is Commander-in-Chief of a Group of Malay Chimpanzees

Rather than allow Bersih’s demands for clean elections to resonate with the public, Tapsell said, the Redshirt movement had redrawn the battle lines into something more closely resembling a tribal brawl – with predictable consequences. “Bersih’s goals and the ethnic background of their supporters are much more diverse than the Redshirts give them credit for, but the effect has been to make these protests [about] free and fair elections to be more of a street ‘battle’ between coloured shirts of political parties – think Thailand,” he said.
According to Gerhard Hoffstaedter, a lecturer in anthropology at the University of Queensland and the author of Modern Muslim Identities: Negotiating Religion and Ethnicity in Malaysia, it is a tactic that has been used to stifle real reform for more than half a century.
“By collapsing important human rights issues and the demand for free elections into the racial politics that have dominated Malaysian politics since independence, the Redshirts aim to discredit universal claims to freedoms and mire their demand in a zero-sum game,” he said. “That game rests on pitting ethnic groups against each other and has proven a potent electoral tool.”
Despite making up almost one third of Malaysia’s population, the nation’s ethnic Chinese community has increasingly been cast as outsiders in the Muslim Malay-dominated country. Accused of forming a cabal controlling the Malaysian economy, the community has been the target of rising resentment from elements of a majority desperate for a scapegoat. In July 2015, the resentment exploded into fully fledged violence as a mob of 200 Malays set upon a handful of ethnic Chinese after rumours spread that a Chinese trader had sold a young Malay man a counterfeit phone. In reality, the Malay man had stolen it.

AUSTRALIA MIGRATION TRIBUNAL

For some, the discrimination has become more than they can bear. In 2015 alone the number of Malaysians seeking protection visas in Australia rose to more than 2,000 – more than double the amount of the previous year. An annual report by Australia’s Migration Review Tribunal citing testimony from the applicants revealed a litany of persecution faced by Malaysia’s ethnic Chinese community who, like all non-Malay citizens, have been denied the same opportunities as their neighbours by a constitution that explicitly grants greater rights and freedoms to those with Malay heritage.

China’s Ambassador Dr Huang Huikang, his wife and a few Chinese embassy officials visited Petaling Street and warned those who used violence to disrupt public order in the country. He said the Chinese government was opposed to terrorism, extremism and any forms of discrimination based on race.

An ethnic Chinese-Malaysian woman whose family business was allegedly closed down after repeated threats and blackmail attempts from the local Malay-dominated government, described how her family had been reduced to second-class citizens in their own country.
“We are living like a dog,” she told the tribunal. “In the past, the Malaysian government kept watch on all the Chinese; if the Chinese children want to enter public school, it would be a very difficult thing, almost impossible… the government does not care about us.”
By painting the protesters as little more than scheming Chinese dissidents backed by foreign powers, the Redshirts have tapped into a sense of widespread insecurity that has echoes of the fear and uncertainty that drove Britain from the EU and propelled US President-elect Donald Trump into the White House. According to Hoffstaedter, by positioning Malaysia’s vast Muslim majority as somehow under threat, the Redshirts – and the ruling coalition – could then paint themselves not as bigots defending the status quo but fierce defenders of the nation’s heritage and institutions.
“The rhetoric they engage in involves portraying Malays and Muslims to be losing out or not winning any longer, and… the continued dominance of Malayness/Islam can only be enshrined and protected by UMNO,” he said.
Khoo Ying Hooi, a senior lecturer in international relations at the University of Malaya, said that racial prejudice had often been used to shut down dissent.
“Whenever we have a political crisis, the issue [of race] is very often politicised,” she said.By playing to the public’s darkest prejudices, Khoo added, the Redshirts sent a clear threat to those who would risk the fury of the mob to win reforms.
“Religion is a sensitive issue in Malaysia,” she said. “Whatever is being played out along that line, it also sends a little warning to the opposition political parties or the civil society movement in general, because nobody wants to create a platform for any kind of controversies that surround racial issues or anything to do with religion.”

Despite public denouncements by high-ranking UMNO cabinet ministers, the presence of several UMNO youth officials within the ranks of the Redshirts and, more damningly, Jamal Yunos’ own admission that many of the movement’s followers come from within the political party have raised questions as to just how spontaneous the allegedly grassroots response to Bersih has been.
Helen Ting Mu Hung, a senior fellow at the National University of Malaysia’s Institute of Malaysian and International Studies, described the Redshirts as little more than a cluster of UMNO members rallying around Yunos to hamper Bersih ground support.
“It was a political manoeuvre implicitly endorsed by UMNO top leadership, despite their public dissociation from it, as could be seen in the warm welcome received by Jamal at the recently concluded UMNO General Assembly,” she said. “This does not mean, however, that all UMNO leaders in the party are supportive of the Redshirt movement’s tactics.”
Ting cited an allegation that an earlier counter-demonstration in 2015 had been bolstered by some 10,000 Federal Land Development Authority-sponsored settlers – drawn overwhelmingly from the rural poor – who had been bussed in to boost the ranks of the protesters, despite being entirely ignorant of the rally’s intent. She added that there had been several media reports following the demonstrations revealing the lengths UMNO had gone to to mobilise the ostensibly spontaneous movement.
Ting argued that the Redshirts’ threats to riot served more as a smokescreen to shift attention away from Prime Minister Najib Razak’s involvement in the ongoing 1MDB scandal – where he stands accused of siphoning more than $1 billion from the state development fund for his own political use – than as proof of any real groundswell of support.
“The fundamental objective of this movement is clearly to whip up popular support for the Prime Minister in view of the 1MDB scandal and to counter the popular pressure against him as indicated by the huge turnout during the Bersih demonstrations,” she said. “In order to mobilise support, it has blatantly used very racist rhetoric – especially during the demonstration [in 2015].”
As similar movements driven by nativist thugs in the West have shown, it is a dangerous game. “This ties into global populist politics in the way leaders proclaim, agitate and appease the most right-wing political ideas,” Hoffstaedter said. “The fringe of Islamist and Malay nationalist ideology has been absorbed by the government to further their own credentials and support among their own ‘silent majority’.”
The game of pandering to Malay nationalist fears has deep roots in Malaysia, with past governments passing sweeping affirmative action legislation explicitly placing the needs of the Bumiputera – literally “sons of the soil”, referring to members of the Malay race – over those from different backgrounds. According to Hoffstaedter, the ensuing segregation has done little to create a harmonious society.
“The cost has been immense, and the main beneficiaries continue to be the elite,” he said. “The education system has bifurcated [split], and many Malays and non-Malays grow up in ethnic and religious silos, which is detrimental for social cohesion. The government has put its weight behind the exclusionary politics of Malay superiority over their national alliance.”

Don’t be afraid of UMNO–Stand Up Against Racism and Religious Bigots. They have ruined the Malay spirit by corrupting the minds of young Malays .Instead of using the occasion to speak to an anxious nation worried about its future or demonstrate that it has the will and the capacity to rise to greatness again, UMNO took the low road to bigotry and parochialism.–Din Merican
Since the 2016 November rallies, there has been little evidence in the media of the Redshirts’ much-vaunted counter-revolution, with both sides licking their wounds until the next march. Khoo suggested that the drop-off in activity revealed the hollow reality of the movement.
“That actually strengthens the idea that the whole counter-movement is created just to rebut whatever Bersih 5 demands, and also to create fear on the day… I don’t think there’s an issue of sustainability – they might come up again when there’s another [round] of pro-democracy protests. I don’t think they are an organised movement that are actually into sustaining themselves.”

Infamous German ‘Beggar’ Is Spotted In Malaysia Living In Luxury!!

Infamous German ‘Beggar’ Is Spotted In Malaysia Living In Luxury!!

Benjamin Holst, 32, is known worldwide as a professional beggar in Asia and he is here in Malaysia since March 2 by train from Singapore! Taking advantage of locals who are compassionate at heart, they fall for his story lock, stock, and barrel, not realising Benjamin was using their hard earned money to fund his traveling and partying lifestyle.

He has earned many undesirable labels such as “Asia’s biggest scammer” and “useless beggar” to name a few from social media as he is constantly updating his Facebook profile.
His most recent update on Facebook shows that he is leaving Malaysia to fly to Vietnam with a caption of “I say Good bye I come back 2weeks don’t worry.” Heads up Vietnam, he’s visiting, be warned! Everyone please be alert and inform each other if he is seen anywhere!

Before he left for Vietnam, he was having a blast with his stay in Malaysia, on March 7, his Facebook status read, “Back in Kuala Lumpur. Hope good nightlife today and buy my flight ticket to Da Nang,” along with pictures of the Petronas Twin Towers and a meal most likely bought with another’s money.

A student from the University of Nottingham, Lauren Sula, 23, warned locals via the Backpackers Buddies Malaysia Facebook group to stay away from Benjamin Holst. He suffers from a rare form of localised gigantism called Macrodystrophia lipomatosa on his right leg that has caused it to swell to gigantic proportions.

“He takes advantage of people all over Asia by begging for money, which you may at first think is to help fund his health care for his disability,” she wrote.
“However, he brags on his personal Facebook page about how he’s staying in expensive hotels, eating in nice restaurants and spending endless money on prostitutes,” she added.

During the day he usually picks spots that are crowded and populated to panhandle on and during the night, he would go out and enjoy the nightlife, you would expect him to have difficulty in walking with his swollen leg, but he was walking normally a witness told

His antics first came to light in September 2014 when his story went viral on social media about him as a disabled tourist whose money and passport was stolen in Bangkok. Concerned Thai citizens raised 50,000 baht (RM6,300) for him to return to Germany and reunite with his family but were shocked to see photos of him drinking and partying at a bar in Pattaya the next day.

Angry Thai Man Shames Arrogant Tourist For Refusing To Take Her Smelly Feet Off Seat!

Angry Thai Man Shames Arrogant Tourist For Refusing To Take Her Smelly Feet Off Seat!

A woman travelling through Thailand has seriously pissed off locals after refusing to put her ‘rancid’ feet away on a packed bus.
Narong Thaopanya, 21, was travelling over 260 miles by coach from Bangkok to Sukhothai province in northern Thailand on last week.
But his eight-hour bus ride took a turn for the worse when a blonde traveller sat in the seat behind him and put her sweaty feet on top of the chair at his side.

Thaopanya said he pleaded with the woman, believed to be French, and begged her to remove her skanky traveller feet, but she wouldn’t listen.
An outraged Thaopanya said: ‘This woman’s face was beautiful but she had no manners.’
‘I asked her many times to put her legs on the ground and she would not do it,’ he said. ‘She just kept them in the air.
Thaopanya said the smell was ‘rancid’ and made him feel physically sick on the boiling hot coach.

The smell from her feet was filling the whole bus.’

Scammer Fakes Kidnapping To Get Grandma To Cough Up RM200,000, But She Brilliantly Trolled Him!

Scammer Fakes Kidnapping To Get Grandma To Cough Up RM200,000, But She Brilliantly Trolled Him!

In the past year, phone scams have become more calculated, causing people to fear for the lives of their loved ones and, in turn, become a victim of the scam.
More often that not, these fraudsters left people feeling utterly frustrated. However, this one particular scam story published on World Of Buzz has left netizens laughing so hard.
This is what happened:
Recently, a scammer had called up a grandma’s house phone and told her that they had kidnapped her son. All the scammer wanted was money in return for her son’s release but this grandma was too briliant to be lied to!

According to WOB, the scammer told her to prepare RM200,000 as ransom money and even told her to meet at a certain place to do the exchange. The culprit said that another man will meet her there to collect the money. A 3 minute video of the conversation between the grandma and the scammer was recorded.
In the minutes video, the grandma sounded rather aloof and rugged about the situation. The scammer on the other end of the phone was obviously pissed off as he scolded the elderly woman, “You motherf- why are you asking me ‘how’. Pay up!”
The angry grandma replied “You think this is RM200 or RM2,000? If you say RM20k to RM30k then it’s easy. You say RM200k, you wanna scare me to death?
“We are poor people, where am I going to find the money for you? I’ve not even seen such an amount before in my life.”
The scammer still didnt give up! He said, “RM20-30k? You think I’m a beggar?”
“Do you think that if you simply say you have no money then everything will be settled?”
The grandma left with no choice, so she asked for long term repayment instead of giving him the money in lump sum.
But suddenly, the smart grandma thought of asking what is the name of the kidnapped person. The man was speechless at first but he avoided the question and continued to talk about the money.
Then, she savagely replied, “What do you mean I’m crazy? Of course I have to know the name of the person you have kidnapped. Don’t you even know his name?
“If you don’t even know his name how am I supposed to pay the money?”
The grandma insisted that the man tell her the name which he could not. He end up so frustrated he started to curse at this grandma! The scammer obviously could not drag on his lie anymore.
As the elderly woman continued to epically berate the fool for not even knowing the name, the man suddenly hung up! Netizens were overjoyed at how the damned scammer got a taste of his own medicine!

A Malaysian Man Almost Lost RM100 To A Cashier When Reloading His Touch n’ Go Card At A Toll!!

A Malaysian Man Almost Lost RM100 To A Cashier When Reloading His Touch n’ Go Card At A Toll!!

We have so many dishonest people in the world right now, even some cashiers in toll booths cannot be trusted anymore.
Recently, a netizen from Johor Bahru posted on social media after he was almost cheated out of RM100 while reloading his Touch n’ Go card.
This guy gave the cashier at a toll booth in Bidor, Perak, RM200 and specifically mentioned that he wanted to reload that exact amount into his Touch n’ Go card. When the cashier handed him the receipt, he took a look at it and found something was amiss as the balance after reloading was RM167.92 instead of RM267.92.
He immediately clarified this issue with the cashier, and the cashier only said “Sorry, sorry” and reloaded the remaining RM100.

He said, “If we didn’t check the receipt, then our hard-earned money would have ended up in others’ pocket.”
Apparently, he wasn’t the only one who experienced this, there were other netizens who stepped out after the post went viral sharing what had happened, “The same thing happened to me before. I wanted to reload RM300 but the cashier only reloaded RM200 for me.”

Remember to always check the receipt every time you reload you Touch n’ Go card to avoid being the next victim, share the word to your friends and family!

The US Is About to Stop Buying Tomahawk Missiles, Like the Ones That Hit Syria

The US Is About to Stop Buying Tomahawk Missiles, Like the Ones That Hit Syria

But it’s planning to upgrade its existing stock — and lay the groundwork for a next-generation cruise missile.
The venerable Tomahawk cruise missile, used in conflicts big and small since 1991, took center stage once again in an April 7 strike that rained some five dozen of the weapons upon a Syrian airfield believed to have launched a chemical attack. But its end is in sight, if not exactly imminent.
The U.S. Navy, which currently has some 4,000 Tomahawks, plans to stop buying the venerable weapon in the next few years. Service leaders haven’t fully articulated their plans to replace it, but they have started talking about the need for a “Next Generation Land Attack Weapon” slated to enter service more than a decade hence.
In 2014, then-Navy acquisition chief Sean Stackley (now the Navy’s acting secretary) told the House Armed Services Seapower and Projection Forces subcommittee that the next-generation weapon could be an upgraded Tomahawk or a different weapon.
“[W]e are moving forward with development of what has been referred to as next-generation land-attack weapon,” Stackley said. “And the key elements of that weapon will be its increased lethality, survivability beyond what Tomahawk brings today.”
More recently, in October, the Navy asked defense firms to provide information about technologies they are working on that could be used in these future weapons.
The Navy said it would use the information “to analyze individual and combinations (Family of Systems (FOS)) of existing weapons, modifications to existing weapons, ongoing demonstration efforts, new weapon designs, and enabling capabilities to determine the most cost effective manner in which to achieve an optimal level of operational capability with an acceptable level of operational risk.”
In the meantime, the Navy plans to upgrade much of its existing stockpile, enabling it, for example, to sink ships. That kind of capability expansion in line with an overall Pentagon drive to make existing weapons more flexible. Last year, Navy officials announced they had quietly modified the SM-6, an interceptor built to shoot down aircraft and missiles, to sink ships.
Both the Tomahawk and SM-6 are built by Massachusetts-based Raytheon, whose shares rose in trading on Friday.
Last year, the Navy asked Congress for $187 million to buy 100 new Tomahawks. Last month, the Trump administration asked lawmakers for $85 million to buy an additional 96 missiles. Budget documents show the Navy has purchased more than 8,000 Tomahawks overall.
Todd Harrison, a defense budget expert with the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, said it would cost the Pentagon about $89 million to replace the 59 Tomahawks that stuck Syria early Friday morning local time.Description: http://cdn.defenseone.com/a/defenseone/img/article-end.png
