In his article, the supreme council member of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) said, “Believe it or not, we have the key to the future in our hands. Not just in the hands of the power elite, but in the hands of every member of the rakyat, from the business tycoons to the farmer settlers.”

Rais Hussin further pointed out that this “power” is in the votes which he calls a “weapon” we must use, and wisely.

Do not forget history

Indeed, this is the weapon that needs to be used when it comes to the next general election.

There are so many issues at hand involving Najib Abdul Razak and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, that have not been dealt with.

First, there is the death of former Mongolian model, Altantuya Shaariibuu. The motive of the murder has not been established. Why would two former bodyguards of Najib murder a woman whom they hardly knew?

Then, there is the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) which has earned Malaysia a reputation as a nation of kleptocrats. Who was the Saudi prince who ‘donated’ RM2.6 billion into Najib’s personal accounts in Ambank?

There is also the unresolved case of RM42 million from SRC International that had allegedly found its way into Najib’s private account.

And, then there is the death involving the former chairperson and CEO of AIAK Group which founded the Arab Malaysian Banking Group in 1975.

We have not forgotten the sudden disappearance of Kevin Morais and the shocking discovery of his death. Morais was a deputy public prosecutor attached to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) just prior to the removal of the attorney-general, Abdul Gani Patail.

This is why I am afraid that Najib is overconfident with his statement that Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) would win, whether the general election is called this year or next.

Tell-tale signs

In fact, if Najib is so confident, why did he have to appoint his own cousin, Hishammuddin Hussein, to be the special functions minister, and as one reader put it, “when there are no special functions to be performed”.

This is because Hishammuddin is said to be slated to replace Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Just think about it for a moment – why would Zahid even want to recommend Najib’s own cousin, instead of the people who have shown him support?

By doing that, Zahid is putting a loop around his own neck. Sandwiched between two cousins, Zahid is gradually going to lose his support base since he is nowhere.

If he were to become the next prime minister, Zahid would probably remove Hishamuddin and replace him with one of his own loyalists.

 When this happens, even Najib will not escape the wrath. Zahid may do this to win the people’s support back.

This, in my opinion, is about the future of Umno especially since it has distanced itself from the rakyat. So, Najib should not be too overconfident.

In the past four months, we see the transformation of UMNO/BN mainstream media like Utusan Malaysia, New Straits Times, Berita Harian and Star from newspapers into “lies-papers” as part of the UMNO/BN campaign to demonise Pakatan Harapan leaders and myself, where I am described as a devil, puaka, even jembalang; that I am anti-Malay, anti-Islam; cause of May 13, 1969 riots; a communist; a stooge of foreign powers; that I dominate Pakatan Harapan and made other leaders like Tun Mahathir, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Mohamad Sabu as my stooges and puppets – all evils possible under the Malaysian sun!

But we can also notice something most unusual – that the intensification and escalation of the demonisation campaign of Pakatan Harapan leaders and myself, blatantly turning UMNO/BN newspapers into “lies-papers” through lies, fake news and false information, have not given the UMNO/BN leaders solace or relief, for they are beginning to realise that their worst escalation of demonisation campaign against Pakatan Harapan leaders and myself are not getting the traction or credibility to restore UMNO fortunes in the Malay ground.

 

This is one reason for the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s latest political and strategic decision to make Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein as Minister for Special Functions in the Prime Minister’s Department, in addition to his portfolio as Defence Minister – clearly placing Hishammuddin as the No. 2 most powerful man in the Najib administration over and above the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi.

Clearly, Najib is more fearful that UMNO would be defeated in the 14th General Election than in the 13th General Election in 2013 – and the reason why the demonisation campaign against Pakatan Harapan leaders and myself have reached ludicrous proportion.

For fifteen years, from 1998 till the 2013 general election, I was accused particularly by MCA and Gerakan propagandists as a stooge and puppet of Anwar Ibrahim; but suddenly, after the 2013 General Election, I have turned around to make not only Anwar and Azizah, Azmin, Mat Sabu, but also Tun Mahathir and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as my puppets or stooges?

How is this transformation possible, except in the realm of UMNO/BN lies and falsehoods?

Only political fools, idiots and simpletons who do not use their critical faculties could fall for such lies and falsehoods – but I believe that truth will finally prevail, whatever the worst that could be done by the UMNO/BN “lies-papers” and their mercenary cybertroopers.

The lies that the DAP and I are anti-Malay and anti-Islam are most ridiculous. My political record of the past 51 years, and those of DAP, are an open book – we support justice and fundamental economic and political rights for all Malaysians, not just for any one race or religion. We are in fact more Malaysian than those who are attacking us!

In trying to cling on to power, UMNO/BN politicians have resorted to the politics of lies, fear and hate to disseminate the fear among Malay voters that if UMNO is defeated in the 14GE, Malays will lose political power and their rights in the country.

This is utter nonsense, for the Pakatan Harapan coalition comprising DAP, PKR, AMANAH and Pribumi Bersatu want to win, not just the 14th GE, but the 15th, 16th and future GEs – which means that the Pakatan Harapan government must demonstrate that it could deliver results and do better than the UMNO/BN government to protect and promote the rights and interests of all communities in the country, including the Malays.

I call on the UMNO/BN to abandon their politics of lies, hate and fear and resort to clean, honest and responsible politicking to compete for the support of the voters of Malaysia regardless of race, religion or region in the run-up to the 14GE.

Let the UMNO/BN mainstream media stop their demeaning role as “lies-papers” and return to their traditional and time-honoured role as “newspapers”!

KUALA LUMPUR — The strange “disappearance” of activist Peter Chong took another twist as police said he claimed to have been abducted in Thailand after going there to seek information on a Christian pastor’s abduction.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh said Chong, who returned to Malaysia today after going missing for 11 days, had told local police that he had travelled to Thailand to meet someone with information on Pastor Raymond Koh’s disappearance

“According to him, he had gone to Hadyai with the intention of meeting his source who will reveal more info on the disappearance of Pastor.

“Upon reaching Hadyai he claims to be kidnapped there and brought to Pattaya. Upon release, he contacted his son who bought his return ticket,” Amar Singh told Malay Mail Online in a WhatsApp message when contacted today.

At the time of writing, Chong’s son Darryl has yet to respond to Malay Mail Online’s queries.

Earlier today, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar posted on Twitter that Chong has returned from Pattaya, Thailand, to Malaysia this afternoon.

Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Mohd Sukri Kaman told Malay Mail Online that the police recorded a statement from Chong directly at the airport and passed him to his family there at 2.15pm.

National news agency Bernama reported Kuala Lumpur police’s crime investigation department chief SAC Rusdi Mohd Isa as confirming that Chong reached Kuala Lumpur International Airport at around 12pm on a Malindo Air flight and that he was healthy.

Chong’s family had last seen him at their home 11 days ago on April 5 and subsequently lodged a police report on his disappearance.

Khalid said Wednesday that Chong had not been abducted but was seen crossing the borders into Thailand on a bus on April 7 at 6.30am. The police chief said later that Thai police are helping to search for Chong as they wanted to ensure his safety there.

On February 13, Koh was abducted in broad daylight in Petaling Jaya and has remained missing since with no reports of ransom demands to his family.

Besides Koh, the disappearances of Pastor Joshua Hilmy and his wife Ruth and activist Amri Che Mat since last November also grabbed public attention.

A brawl that broke out on a Sunbury line train in Melbourne between a group of four men, was reportedly started after a man yelled racist insults at a group of three men nearby. A witness said man who was attacked, had accused the other three men of being part of ISIS. The witness told 7 News: 'He (the African man) said ''Go back to where you came from'' and ''All immigrants are a problem to this country and you bring all the crime here''.' Transit guards and police spoke to the men but each blamed the other and none wanted to press charges or take the matter further.

Speculation is circulating that Kim Jong-Un dressed up empty, painted boxes as deadly weapons of mass destruction as part of his military parade this weekend. 

North Korea unveiled new weapons during a display of the country's military might in the country's capital Pyongyang to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the birth of the nation's founder Kim Il-Sung. 

But people have started questioning the validity of the rockets, including one which appears either broken or very badly made with its nose pointing skyward.  

One Twitter user said: 'Does North Korea think they are fooling anyone with all those fake missiles on parade?'

Another poked fun at the nation's military saying the missiles looked like they had been made from papier-mâché.

Nevertheless, the intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM), which Pyongyang claim could travel thousands of miles, have increased concerns that the secretive state is preparing for a possible attack on Washington after they were paraded during the country's Day of the Sun celebrations.

US Vice President Mike Pence has arrived in South Korea at the start of a 10-day trip to Asia that comes amid the turmoil over North Korea's threats to advance its growing nuclear and defence capabilities. 

But a grandfather and war veteran believes all the fuss is over wooden boxes that have been painted over. 

Foreign journalists covering the celebrations of The Day of Sun in North Korea were heavily guarded and their output was controlled by the state. 

Each reporter was assigned a military or government guard, which meant the coverage was set up in a way Kim Jong-Un had signed off. 

But as the BBC's John Sudworth delivered his piece to camera, a procession of vehicles carrying missiles passed behind him. 

On one of the trucks, a rocket appears with a nose piece that is pointing skywards, which led to speculation the weapon was a fake. 

Though North Korea didn't launch any missiles to mark the anniversary day, it did show them off in a military parade - and in a surprising number and variety.

Experts believe the arsenal displayed in Saturday's parade included a new kind of short-range cruise missile, probably for shoreline defenses.

North Korea unveiled its latest submarine-launched ballistic missile and a version of the same missile that can be launched from land-based launchers - both of which use solid fuel and present a far greater challenge to find and destroy before they're fired off. 

And it showed off canisters that seemed in line with what would be required for an intercontinental ballistic missile, which is Washington's greatest concern. 

But they also hide what's inside, so more analysis and guesswork from the parade display and future test launches will be required before conclusions are made about where North Korea's ICBM development really stands.

As appetizers, Russia’s embassy in London called Johnson “deplorable” and has even suggested “conventional war”.

While condemning the U.S. missile strike against Syrian government forces as an attack on its ally, Kremlin said it was suspending an agreement to minimize the risk of in-flight incidents between U.S. and Russian aircraft operating over Syria. Essentially, the U.S.-led coalition plunges into the dark about Russian forces and the risk of its air-defence systems shooting down U.S. aircraft.

Secondly, Putin immediately sent frigate Admiral Grigorovich to join the Russian battle group off the coast of Syria. Grigorovich carries Kalibr cruise missiles, the Russian equivalent to the U.S. Tomahawk missiles. Grigorovich alone was sufficient to intimidate two U.S. warships which had fired 59 Tomahawks earlier – the USS Ross and USS Porter.

Moscow also sent two Steregushchiy-class corvettes, support ships (and possibly submarines) to join Admiral Grigorovich. The modern Russian corvettes are capable of launching Kalibr-NK long range land attack cruise missiles, the same which travelled 1,500-km through Iranian and Iraqi airspace and struck targets Raqqa and Aleppo provinces.

The third thing that Putin did to force Trump into revealing his cards was making a joint statement with Iran – “What America waged in an aggression on Syria is a crossing of red lines. From now on we will respond with force to any aggressor or any breach of red lines from whoever it is and America knows our ability to respond well.”

Fourthly, Putin claims his source told him that the U.S. is ready to strike southern Damascus with the help of Syrian rebels who are plotting to mount a poison gas attack in Damascus and blame it on Bashar al-Assad’s government. It was a pre-emptive move to tell all and sundry that U.S. is responsible for any death of Russian advisers currently in Damascus.

It was also a clever plan to challenge Trump to attack Damascus with a risk of killing Russian troops, of which could be used as justification for Russia to start targeting hundreds of U.S. troops in Syria. If USS Porter and USS Ross could hit Syrian airbase with 59 Tomahawks, Russia’s Admiral Grigorovich and Steregushchiy-class corvettes could hit U.S. troops with 59 Kalibr-NK too.

Putin knew Trump cannot afford major casualties because as a CBS survey would show – only 18% Americans favour full U.S. military involvement, including ground troops, in Syria. And 69% believe the U.S. president needs to get authorization from Congress before taking further action. Trump would be in deep trouble if American troops are killed due to his involvement in Syrian War.

The fifth move was to simply refuse or pretend to be not interested of a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in Moscow. And to show that he was in control, Tillerson was made to wait for hours before granted an audience with President Vladimir Putin. Even after the meeting, Russia insults Tillerson for making a “useless visit” to Moscow.

That’s right, Putin made some moves which look as if Russia is ready to hit back at USA, if the U.S. dares to strikes Syria again, and the terrified Trump blinks and chickens out completely. In his latest interview, Trump said – “We’re not going into Syria. Our policy is the same – it hasn’t changed. We’re not going into Syria. Our big mission is getting rid of ISIS.”

Suddenly, the tough Captain America who called Syrian President Bashar al-Assad a “butcher” and a “barbarian” for using sarin gas isn’t interested in getting rid of the monster anymore. He conveniently called his Tomahawk strike “an act of humanitarian”. If Assad was indeed responsible for gassing the innocence, Trump is a bigger fool for believing the butcher would not do it again

Amusingly, Eric Trump has self-proclaimed that his father’s decision to launch a cruise missile attack on Syria proved he is not in league with Russia and will not be “pushed around” by the evil Vladimir Putin. Eric also proudly claimed that his father was not intimidated by President Putin’s talk of war. But that was not the best part about Trump dynasty.

The best part was when Eric confirmed that President Trump’s decision to bomb the Syrian airbase to punish Assad for a nerve gas attack last week was influenced by the reaction of his sister Ivanka, who said she was “heartbroken and outraged” by the atrocity. So, it was Ivanka’s tears that had moved the U.S. president for the attack, despite lack of proof Assad gassed his people
On Tuesday, Defense Secretary “Mad Dog” Jim Mattis took pain to assure the world that tensions between the United States and Russia will not “spiral out of control”, describing it as a one-off Tomahawk strike at Syria. Previously, Mattis has repeatedly warned that the U.S. military remained ready to act again, in consistent with Trump’s pledge to strike again.

Let’s try to understand the fabulous spinning and twisting of Trump administration. The fearsome former General Mattis said there was no doubt that Damascus was responsible for using chemical weapon on innocent people. Trump and his beloved daughter were “heartbroken and outraged” by Assad’s brutality. Yet, suddenly it’s okay for Assad to be given a second chance?

In reality, Donald Trump, like his predecessor Barack Obama, is no match for Vladimir Putin. If one were to ask Putin again about playing chess with Trump, he would probably reply – “He’s no different from Obama. It’s like playing chess with a pigeon. First it knocks over all the pieces, then it shits on the board, and finally it struts around like it won.”

Again, former Russian opposition leader and chess world champion Garry Kasparov has this to offer – “We have to make sure we play chess, not poker.  That’s because Putin, the one man dictatorship, is less dangerous playing chess. He is very good at playing poker.” That would explain how Putin easily check-mate Trump in the game of Syrian War

True, Trump was a good Hollywood actor who probably thought he could outsmart Putin based on another “The Apprentice” story. But Putin is a proven tactician and strategist who had single-handedly annexed Crimea without triggering a major war. It’s true that Donald Trump is not in the same league with Russia – Vladimir Putin is better and

Let's do serious soul searching, get back our lost identity

The issue of who should alternate Najib seems to be debated in public and polemics on it is slowly but surely on the rise.  There have been incessant effort by the opposition in the open to oust Najib and in the quiet there are also moves by his own Cabinet members to put Najib at his right place, but that was done in a very discreet fashion.  It is very usual that if a Prime Minister retires there will be ripples among the aspiring and ambitious but undeserving leaders to replace him.

They are all in the current Cabinet but too little that they know they were equally calamitous and unfit to alternate their ‘world famous’ (you what) PM. They forget that they themselves were in that depraved and debauched system of the current government.  As this blog have mentioned quite regularly, that what the people want to replace is not just Najib but the degenerated culture that has been entrenched in our political and government system since thirty years ago.  

The issue on the government is too serious that depending on the party that wins in the General Election to replace the sitting PM (Najib) is definitely not going to solve the problems and glitches of the country’s encrustation. If Najib is replaced by one who was part of the awful culture, we will be perpetually going through the same political problems and interruptions. There will be another long haul of political demonstrations and outbursts country-wide.

We are witnessing Malaysian across the board moving grossly to topple the current perceptibly corrupt and oblivious of moral value government but Najib just can’t be replaced by any Tom Dick and Harry by the victors just because their identifiable positions in their respective parties within their winning coalition. We should not be just replacing Najib and Umno but we are supposed to reinstate and restore an impeccable political culture that we used to joyously go through before the eighties as an example.

We want to be assuredly being having the opportunity to be governed by leaders with lucidity and saneness to ensure the country and the generation living in civil background and atmosphere. We have enough of deceitful and higgledy-piggledy leaders that we were with for past three decades. They were not serious in building the nation fittingly.

By any calculation Najib is justly harmful to the nation. He has to give up everything and owns up his serious misdeeds to the nation. He should now focus on finding means and ways to leave without having to face serious political and legal harassments, agitations and implications in his life after retiring. This is the most important part of life for anyone living in this world. Abundant of money and wealth can’t guarantee happy ending for one’s life.  Let’s admit that ill-gotten money and wealth will not sustain good and happy life especially while passing through the old and retirement age. There is no scientific explanation to this notion but it’s truly and crude fact that is faced by many who creates ill-gotten wealth through illegitimate means.

We have seen life-proof of wealthy and rich former leaders of nations going through unworthy life as fugitives and perpetually on the run. We don’t want to see this to happen to our ex-leaders and it’s up to the leader, in this case Najib to find inoffensive manner to exit. The longer he procrastinates the more danger faced not only by the country but his own self will be in perilous situation. The ball is at his feet. He should know to kick the ball.

As this blog has been saying repeatedly Najib has to show his sincerity by helping to resolve the country’s excruciating problems before he leaves and that will be his great contribution to the people and the country. Najib’s contribution to the country is by resigning honorably and help to place the nation in a truly different ambience for as long as he is replaced by leaders of the same culture and value we will be in the same boring and distasteful ambience don’t know for how long more.

Najib should leave this country to a more responsible and accountable leader and for this time everyone should forget about inheriting leadership through party positions that we usually practice. We need a leader who is able to get everyone together with one ultimate motive i.e to put our nation into new and fresh ambience and leave the old painful political period far behind us.

All Malaysians have to come with strong will to circumvent the improvident manner of searching for the country’s leadership at least for this time around. Let someone with sterling record of excellence restart the nation anew by reformulating the critical path towards nationhood right from the embryonic stage and we move on towards modern and up-to-date nation comparable to advanced nations intertwined with some extra transcendent spiritual and Asian value.


In actual fact must be focused on soul searching to get back our lost identity as a democratic nation.

Listen to the plea, Malaysians want a clean government with spotless leader face

Umno is going through rough and slippery political terrain as if that there was no other course but to knock into an inevitable fall. As this blog has mentioned quite regularly Najib is riding compactly on the back of a tiger that he is not able to dismount safely.  He is going to plunge together with his party vindicated by the open public court during the forthcoming General Election if he still leads the mother of all elections. We have to admit the fact that Umno's success is conditional. The party has to go for the GE without Najib if the party was still desirous to be re-mandated as the ruling party.

The ‘cash-politics’ is not helping the party he leads any longer as the cash that he splashes through the divisional heads is not going to reach the ground. In the coming GE the cash allotted to the division’s heads will stop flowing to the ground and it will stay put in the accounts of the division heads or their safe deposit saves. I have bumped into many Umno divisions’ leaders lately and they admit that no amount of money can save the party from falling apart and the insecure feelings of the Umno leaders at the divisional level are very prevalent. “The divisional heads might as well keep the money for themselves as their chances to win are much reduced. So why must waste that money?” says one divisional leader to me.

However some of these leaders were still hopeful that Umno could still survive if they destroy the bad cancer cells in Umno and of course the mother of these cancer cells is Najib. There were some evident revolting feelings but some of the party leaders, some in the cabinet while some others in the Supreme Council of the party. They claim that there were still good cells in the cancerous Umno and these good cells are revolting to fight against the bad cells in Umno.

God knows what the consequences would be after these revolts come to the surface. There exists combustible issues that are not sustainable for Umno and the split within it is perceptibly noticeable. Najib is obviously unable to focus on his duties as the chief administrator for the nation as he was so captivated in trying to circumvent the unremitting explosive issues that surface against him every week and month since 2014.

For the oppositions, we are yet to be convinced that they have workable solutions to address the mess that Najib and company have built up for almost a decade. They have to come up with the alternative leader who is magnanimous enough to lead as the leader that alternates Najib has to show his technocratic knowledge intertwined with wide national political familiarity and acceptable by all Malaysian from every race and religious proclivity and faith.

The leader that they need to support should not necessarily from their party echelon as every party has its own idiosyncrasies. It has to be an individual who can understand problems the country is facing up to specific. As long as the reliable elected Member of Parliament he may even come from Umno or any other party in BN or the oppositions. The leader has to be an individual elected Member of Parliament who wins the confidence of the House of Parliament.

For all intent and purposes we must now acknowledge that politics of this country is not entirely dependent on the rakyat across the board. Politics have been seen to be played by few influential individuals in the country. Most of the ordinary leaders from every party at all levels were pure cheer leaders for their leaders and their parties; hence they were not the ones with huge consequences in coming up with the decision as to who should lead and who should not.

In this situation the most important prerequisite for the settlement of the afflictions and despair of the country is the wisdom word i.e. sacrifice. It means that the sacrifice must also come from Najib and all the individuals that play the politics of the country. Najib should sacrifice if he has the intention of being held as responsible leader which he is yet to bargain. His contribution is by withdrawing from politics as he won’t be able to find the novelty in his life as a leader. He may have his preferences of whom to replace him when he retires.

He can find his replacement with other individuals or leaders have after his much needed retirement. All leaders who play the Malaysian politics need to have wealth of soul and pride. The extent of sacrifice should also come from the current sitting leaders who aspire to be the PM. If it needs be leaders like Zahid Hamidi and others should also come out with pride to withdraw any kind of contesting efforts to be the Prime Minister for the sake of rebuilding the already devastated government of the country. The leaders must come to term that the problems faced by the country is created by the leaders and nothing from the people. The ordinary people were preys of the deceitful and roguish leaders since at least two decades ago who came and go without deterrent.

I have been mentioning the issue of power inheritance at length many times before this was with one reason; alternating the current 'satanic' leadership with a person with questionable moral and values will be a disaster. Changing with immoral and hopeless leader is no change. We are going to be certain that the people are going for another long haul of struggle and it will be going to be facing endless national issues. It is insufficient to put up great efforts and courage but more important is the ultimate purpose of the struggle.

Let a dignified leader leads and please answer the plea and the entreaty of the desperate Malaysians who are in dire need for a clean and unsoiled government ruling the land.
