Native Outrage As Royal Mulu Is Handed To Chinese Management Without Consultation -From Sarawak Report

Native Outrage As Royal Mulu Is Handed To Chinese Management Without Consultation

Prince Albert of Monaco enjoys fun & games at Mulu
Abang Johari had been Najib’s choice for Chief Minister the first time around, when Taib Mahmud was originally booted upstairs to the Governor’s mansion, but the departing CM sneaked the popular Adenan Satem into the post.
Now that Johari finally has the prize it is clear that he is obediently doing Najib’s bidding, including keeping China happy as part of the 1MDB bail-out plan, secretly organised by Najib’s proxy 2nd Finance Minister, Jho Low.
Johari’s first big foreign visit therefore was to China, where he signed a memorandum of understanding on behalf of Sarawak’s Economic and Development Council (SEDC) that has opened the way for the resource-hungry super-power to move in further on Sarawak’s economy.
In this respect natives from Mulu National Park have expressed outrage that the announcement of the cooperation deal included a cosy arrangement for the management of their National Park resort to be taken over by a Chinese company named Beijing Glory without a word of warning or consultation with the indigenous Berawan tribe, to whom the area once belonged before being confiscated.

Johari (middle right front) lines up with State Secretary Morshidi Abdul Ghani to sign the deal
Yesterday, he [Johari] witnessed the signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) and an international Chinese tourism development company, Beijing Glory International Culture Development Co Ltd (Beijing Glory), at Nou Hotel here…. Beijing Glory will take over management of some tourism destinations such as Bako and Mulu National Park [Borneo Post March 21st]
Today representatives of the tribe complained that they were shocked that the transfer of the management of the resort has been handed over to the Chinese company, without so much as a by-your-leave from the wealthy Geneid family (Taib Mahmud’s sister Raziah and her Lebanese husband Robert), who managed to grab control of the area years before in order to develop the luxury jungle ‘eco-hotel’.
The Berawan Tering community in Mulu were in utter shock when they read the above mentioned article. Feelings were mixed among the community members and most of us have an uneasy and uncomfortable feeling with this recent announcement.
writes the Action Committee, which includes activists Willie Kayan, Denis Along and Usang Baya from Long Terawan & Mulu Totoh Baram.
Sarawak Report has documented and frequently written about the disgraceful confiscation of this valuable area from the Berawan Tribe by Taib’s influential sister for a mere token compensation.

Taib’s sister Raziah Geneid (3rd right) and family – she spearheaded the Mulu landgrab and controls the resort
Numerous members of Taib’s family are now shareholders in the various companies behind the luxury resort, which has always been treated as a luxury jungle play-den by the Geneids, who have made millions out of lands and contracts gifted by Raziah’s brother.

Whilst the disposessed Berewan of Mulu live in shacks and serve in the Mulu Hotel, the fun-loving Geneids are fond of lavish parties, big gems and couture outfits, usually featured in Tatler (where they have shares)
The Berawan themselves have been reduced to seeking what jobs they can, serving and entertaining visitors at the complex.

Nevertheless, the hotel has not been making money and the Geneids, who head the Board of Directors of the Borsamulu management company, have been looking to off-load the management onto professional hands.
Originally, they did a deal with the Marriott Hotel group to develop an ‘eco-resort’.
However, it seems the US company has pulled out following criticism over the corruption associated with the project.

Dwellings of the local Berawan, original owners of Mulu

Mulu Action Committee Statement:

The Berawan protestors have made clear they do not take kindly to this announcement of new Chinese owners without any consultation.
Our community, being the first settlers and natives of Mulu, would truly appreciate that if there were to be any change in the management of Mulu National Park, first consideration should be given to local companies especially companies owned by the local people from the community in Mulu because we locals have first-hand knowledge of our forests and land.
This recent announcement seems to show total disrespect and disregard towards our community who are the natives of Mulu. Does the Sarawak government see us as mere “animals” that rove through Mulu National Park?
Not a single one of our local community leaders were notified or consulted on the Sarawak government’s intentions mentioned above. In the past, before Mulu was gazetted as a National Park, the Sarawak government at that time had the courtesy to seek permission from the Berawan community leader at that time before any final and conclusive decisions were made.
Now, the way things have transpired, it seems that the Sarawak government has not only totally ignored our community but has totally surrendered and handed Mulu over to China.
What is more worrying and is one of our main concerns is that when the Chinese company takes over the management of the Park, it will only hire people from China and not give any work opportunities to our local community who live here and need to sustain a livelihood to survive.
Another key concern is that we fear that our Native Customary Rights (NCR) Land would also be handed over to the Chinese company.
Therefore, we object that Beijing Glory should take over the management of Mulu National Park.
Few would argue with such concerns and Sarawak’s Beijing delegation included senior long-standing Sarawak officials, who ought to have known better than to steam-roller through such a deal, for example the State Secretary, Morshidi Abdul Ghani.
However, no one in Sarawak will be of course in the least surprised at Abdul Ghani’s compliance, since his total obedience in all matters has long since been bought and paid for by the present political leadership in the form of a 14,000 oil palm plantation handed to his immediate family for a bargain basement price.

Japanese hideaway!

Tired of Mulu? The Geneids have got themselves a 5 star Japanese Golf Course!

Daughter Aishah Geneid enjoys Japanese hideaway

As for the Geneids, Sarawak Report can reveal a brand new discovery from their astonishing wealth portfolio of properties and businesses world-wide, gained as family hangers-on to Taib Mahmud.
Geneid family members have been given to circulating happy holiday snaps of themselves of themselves enjoying their “new home from home”, featuring none other than a very fancy  Japanese golf resort near Mount Fuji named Izu Heights Golf Club.
Research by Sarawak Report’s contacts in Japan has indeed indicated that the ‘entrepreneurial couple’ are as suspected the owners of the plush resort.
The parent company of the rolling golf course, is Izu Heights Development Pte. Ltd., whose representative is none other than Robert Geneid.
According to available data, the company was established on 28 February 2014 with 10 million yen in capital, but predictably operates at a loss.
In 2014 it had a revenue of 110 million yen (about a million dollars) and net profit of minus 24.7 million yen.  In FY 2015 (Jan-Dec) it had revenue of 229 million yen and net profit of minus 17.9 million yen.
But, as far as the family are concerned this is their “Hot New Playground”, so perhaps there will be less time spent at Mulu, leaving the jungle resort with more rooms free to earn some money?

One thing is for sure, whilst the Berewan are expected to sit and take whatever the State Government decides, they can be rest in the knowledge that those State Government decisions have always been determined by whatever is best for the likes of Raziah and Robert and not themselves

Other daughter Elia Geneid also enjoys the resort. She recieved tens of thousands of hectares of oil palm concessions in her 20s, so can doubtless afford a share

Is This True??!! “GIANT MONITOR LIZARD SEEKS HELP FROM PHARMACY!!!”

Is This True??!! “GIANT MONITOR LIZARD SEEKS HELP FROM PHARMACY!!!”

On 4th of April, Sherwynd Rylan Kessler shared on his Facebook an interesting picture with the highlighted caption “ADULT MONITOR LIZARD SEEKS TREATMENT AT PHARMACY”.
Yes! That’s exactly my reaction! I too went like “Are you for real??!!”
Well, whether it really happened the way he described it or not, the giant monitor lizard did look like it was ‘knocking’ on the glass door entrance of a pharmacy at Pulau Tikus, Penang.
He further said that:
“An adult male monitor lizard from Longkang 12B tried to barge into a pharmacy just as it was about to open business, to seek medication to treat a minor wound it sustain during a fight with another lizard. It was bleeding profusely and bloodstains were seen all over the floor and glass door of the pharmacy.”

Not sure if this was what that really happened but you got to admit that this man is pretty crafty, no? Kessler does seem like an enthusiastic photographer according to his profile, so it does kind of fit the bill for him to make up a caption that will suit the picture.

Anyways, I do hope that the monitor lizard is okay and it does not end up on someone’s dinner plate.

1st 'Made-In-China' Aircraft Carrier Is 2nd To Join Chinese Navy.

1st 'Made-In-China' Aircraft Carrier Is 2nd To Join Chinese Navy.

Not too long ago (2012) the Chinese commissioned their first aircraft carrier the Liaoning, which was a remodelled Soviet aircraft "cruiser" the Varyag.

LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY TO THIS PART FOLKS :
  • DECEMBER 2015 Chinese announced to build their own Made-In-China carrier.
  • Just 15 months later Shandong to join PLAN (People's Liberation Army Navy)
  • China's 2nd aircraft carrier,  1st to be built  entirely in China.
From having no aircraft carrier before 2012, the Chinese can now make a brand new carrier in under 15 months.  I think they may soon take this down to under 12 months.

Here is some news :

China’s first domestic aircraft carrier to sail within three weeks
Shandong 2nd carrier to join People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN)
Shandong significantly modernized carrier,  constructed in Dalian
Type 001A Shandong commissioned April 23 —  68th anniversary of PLAN
Shandong will displace 65,000 tons, compared with Liaoning’s 60,000.

"hard to recall growth at similar pace in any navy across history" UK think tank.

new carrier Shandong will carry 36 Jian-15 fighters [J-15].
Liaoning carrier can carry 24 J-15 fighters

Liaoning Type 001 class, rebuilt out of Soviet aircraft cruiser Varyag in early 2000s
Sept 2012 Liaoning commissioned into PLA Navy.
Dec 2015 Chinese announced plans to construct new aircraft carrier

My comments :   The latest American aircraft carrier the USS Gerald Ford class was under construction for about 12 years.  The USS Gerald Ford will join the US Navy in 2019 !! Almost 15 years for the Americans to put a carrier into service.

The Indian aircraft carrier INS Vikrant has been under construction since 2005. It  is not expected to be commissioned until 2023. That’s 18 years, if they make it.

The Chinese have built their 65,000 ton aircraft carrier in 15 months !!

With this 2nd carrier the Chinese Navy will have two aircraft carrier battle groups.

An aircraft carrier battle group means the aircraft carrier will sail in an armada escorted by  'support ships' like destroyers, frigates, cruisers and submarines.  Not only to protect the aircraft carrier but to also act as a 'aircraft carrier strike group'.

Here are pictures of China's  Liaoning Carrier  Battle Group :

I believe the Chinese may have from three to five aircraft carrier battle groups like these within the next five years.  They will likely dominate the South China Sea, the western Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean.

The US Navy has 10 aircraft carrier battle groups but they cover all the oceans of the world.

We need to catch up. We can. It is not very difficult.
How? Just do what the Chinese do.

EPF Decides To "Lock In" RM203m Loss From FGV. TH, KWAP - From around the blogs

EPF Decides To "Lock In" RM203m Loss From FGV. TH, KWAP etc Still Korek H_dung

http://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2017/04/03/epf-records-rm203mil-realised-loss-from-felda-global-ventures-stake/

EPF realises RM203.18mil loss from FGV stake
recorded loss in Aug last year
gained dividend income of RM105.77mil.

EPF had strict investment policy
companies should be “fundamentally strong” (Haaaa haaa haa)

EPF held 4.5% stake in FGV
increased to 8.49% in 2013 following “encouraging performance” (Haaaa haaa haa)
FGV listed in 2012.

initially traded RM4.55, hit record low of RM1.19 in August 2015.

Besides EPF, Tabung Haji and (KWAP)  are big shareholders

both institutions to ensure substantial profits from  FGV
(Haaaa haaa haa)

My comments :  EPF made RM203 million loss from their 8.5% stake in FGV.

The other major shareholders are KWAP 7%,  Pahang gomen 5%,  Tabung Haji 8%,
Felda and satellites about 40%. Thats about 60%.

If EPF's 8.5% stake made losses of RM203 million, then doing a quick proportion, these other shareholders have made (paper) losses totalling maybe RM1.4 Billion (as at Aug 2016).  I am assuming they all bought into FGV at the same time.

I highlighted this issue in this Blog around that time or earlier than August 2016.

My point was how can all these trustees of public funds like EPF, Tabung Haji. KWAP, Pahang gomen, AS*, PN* (who I believe must hold FGV shares too) keep holding on to FGV shares when the share price was crashing?

If the FGV shares crash even further, then it will mean more and more loss of public moneys.

Hence EPF decided to bite the bullet and unloaded all their FGV shares in August last year and realised an actual loss of RM203 million.

So what about Tabung Haji, KWAP, Pahang gomen, AS* & PN* (if they have FGV shares) ?
Until when are they going to hold on to their paper losses?
Hoping that FGV will miraculously turn around?
You are only playing with the public trust.
The public holds you responsible for managing their moneys for them.

This is a kleptocracy.  The gomen leaders have stolen over RM90 billion just from that 1MDB fiasco alone.  Another RM30 billion from that PFI thing is another mystery.

Felda had RM9 billion reserves before listing.
The listing itself raised RM9.3 billion.
That is RM18 billion. Where is this RM18 billion? Where did it go?
Then Felda borrowed RM6 Billion for replanting. That money also has gone singing.
That totals up to RM24 Billion.

Add this to 1MDB's RM90 billion and PFIs RM30 Billion = RM144 Billion gone entah mana.

All these moneys will never get paid. It is simply too much.

So the longer that Tabung Haji, KWAP, AS*, PN*, Pahang gomen etc hold on to these FGV shares the higher the risk of their investment values dropping.

Shouldnt they also 'cut losses' and be honest about it?

The EPF has decided to realise their RM203 million losses from this bad investment. Sadly they did not divulge this information to the public until the matter was raised in Parliament.

Very professional conduct by the EPF.  Kangkung.

Forget about North Korea. Switzerland has "declared war" on 1MDB. What does Anifah Aman Say? - from around the Blogs

Forget about North Korea. Switzerland has "declared war" on 1MDB. What does Anifah Aman Say?

Forget about North Korea folks.  Switzerland has declared war on 1MDB. Malaysia is just collateral damage. Here is a Reuters report that is going around the world. Malulah Malaysia :

.
Swiss AG making progress in 1MDB case despite Malaysia's silence
.
Swiss AG says it's making progress in 1MDB case
Swiss Attorney General Michael Lauber said on Wednesday that his money laundering investigation into Malaysian fund 1MDB was making progress despite Malaysian authorities' refusal to cooperate..

Combing through money laundering reports and bank documents with help from Singapore, Luxembourg and the United States was bearing fruit for his office, the OAG, he said..

"It's not hopeless, in fact it's the opposite," Mr Lauber said.
.

"We're still confident we can successfully conclude the process ... in particular (but not only) the open cases against the two banks," he said at a news conference, referring to Swiss private banks BSI and Falcon which have already had to pay out in the case.
.

1MDB, a pet project of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, is under investigation in at least six countries over billions of dollars of suspected misappropriations.
.
Presenting his 2016 annual report, Mr Lauber outlined OAG activities
.

"This place (Switzerland) is not a safe harbour, not for terrorists, not for money launderers, not for international corruption," he said.
.

"We don't tolerate things like 1MDB. .".

REUTERS

My comments :       Here are some of the news headlines from around the world and the region, including Malaysia of course :

And here is just one "search page" from Google :

Conclusion :  This news is burning up headlines all over the world today.

Hello 1MDB crooks (and New Village idiots) you should understand what all these headlines mean :
  • The Swiss are now on the front pages over this 1MDB.
  • Their credibility is at stake as well.
  • They cannot afford to stop or give up now.
  • Looks like they are coming after you.
.

Look at the expression on their Attorney General's face at his  Press Conference :

I like his simple statement :      "We don't tolerate things like 1MDB. .".

So  Adios ok.

Swiss AG Has Frozen Over A Hundred 1MDB Related Bank Accounts ! ! - From around the Blogs

Swiss AG Has Frozen Over A Hundred 1MDB Related Bank Accounts ! !

The Swiss AG's Annual Report is available at the website of the Office of the AG, Switzerland. There is an English version.   You can read the English version of the full report here.

 Here is an excerpt :

Here is that part of the Swiss AG's Annual Report 2016 which talks about 1MDB.

3.8 1MDB criminal investigation

On the basis of the finding that the Swiss financial services  hub was affected by the financial scandal of which  the Malaysian sovereign fund 1 MALAYSIA DEVELOPMENT
BERHAD (1MDB)
is supposed to have fallen victim,  the OAG instigated an investigation in August 2015.

Within the framework of improper financial operations,  several billion USD is said to have been embezzled at  the expense of that fund, with the operations branching
out into Singapore, Luxembourg, the US and Switzerland.

This case has caused great furore in the media  due to the scope of the fraud, the involvement of certain  banks (suspicion of breach of obligations in the area of combating money laundering) and the likely involvement  of executives of 1MDB and the sovereign wealth fund of  Abu Dhabi in the misappropriation of the funds.

The Swiss investigation, which was instigated on  the suspicion of fraud, bribery and money laundering, is  directed against Malaysian officials and officials of the  United Arab Emirates, who each held several bank accounts  in Switzerland to which funds from a criminal  origin allegedly flowed.

Since 2015, the MROS has reported  about one hundred suspicious accounts to the  OAG in connection with this international case of fraud.  The OAG has frozen several tens of millions of USD as  part of a seizure.

At the international level, the OAG has  noted the refusal of Malaysia to execute its request for  legal assistance, whose aim was to clarify the facts and  collect evidence in Malaysia

However, the OAG is investigating  in close co-operation with the authorities of  other countries that are affected by this case and welcomes  the effectiveness and speed of this co-operation(Malulah Malaysia)

As regards the financial intermediaries affected by  this scandal, the OAG instigated on the basis of Article  102 para. 2 Swiss Criminal Code (responsibility of the  company) separate investigations into two Swiss banks.  They are being suspected of failing to take all necessary  and reasonable organisational precautions to prevent the  commission of acts of money laundering within the bank.

Both banks have been fined by FINMA. In particular,  FINMA ordered the seizure of the profits, which had  been generated in violation of the anti-money laundering regulations. The corresponding orders were contested,  and the Federal Administrative Court will have  to rule on this.

My comments :  The fat lady has not sung yet.

Attacked A Guard Dog At Bandar Kinrara Puchong

The guard need biting up by not restraining the Dog and also a slap was okay but abusing like dog is way is too much.  The dog is a little dog and the man is big. Better he pick one his size and my friend below is every ready to be abused or abuse the abuser. name the date , place and time. Yeh baby I am ready

More Eyewitness Needed To Catch This Guy Who Mercilessly Attacked A Guard Dog At Bandar Kinrara Puchong!!!

UPDATE: The culprit!

Smita Sudhakaran: Just went to check on the dog, they’re gonna make a report and take the dog(Puppy) to the vet today. I offered to help but they said the community(I’m assuming that’s the neighbourhood community) would handle it. Puppy seems fine with no major injuries as of yet. Still a very happy and friendly baby.

Just 40 minutes ago, (at the time of press) Malaysia Independent Animal Rescue posted a road rage attack on a guard dog at a residential area in Bandar Kinrara Puchong.
MIAR are now urgently seeking for more eyewitness to come forward to help bring justice for the guard dog that was brutally beaten up by a Singaporean man. According to their post, the suspect’s name is Terry Yee Kok Chew.
He is the owner of Tearproof and is currently said to be renting a place at No.88 Jalan BK 6E/4 Melody, Bandar Kinrara.
This incident was reported to have taken place on Sunday, 2nd April, at 8.49 pm.

In the video, it showed that as the man was cycling and approaching the guard house, the guard dog seemed to have been excited and managed to break free from the chain. It was also known that the suspect was carrying his own dog at the back of his ride.
Due to the ‘excitement’, the guard dog jumped on to the suspect’s ride causing him to fall off his bicycle. This infuriated the man!
Terry then angrily and hurriedly walked towards the guard dog, grabbed it and started threatening and beating up the dog. He even started to use the helmet to aggressively beat up the dog. The female guard that was at the scene, was seen asking the man to lay his hands off the poor dog and in return, he also got roughed with the lady.
Another male bystander comes to the booth and tells the man to cut it off, but he didn’t seem pleased to hear anything and even raised his hand to the male bystander.

His aggressiveness towards the animal has raised many assumptions of whether his own dog gets abused or not at home. How does a furkid’s father attack another dog mercilessly??!!
The female guard did mention that thankfully the dog is in a stable condition.
Let’s help the poor guard dog find justice!

CONFIRMED! MCA, MIC, GERAKAN WERE IN CAHOOTS WITH UMNO TO HOODWINK NON-MUSLIMS: ‘IT WAS AN EXECUTIVE ORDER FROM THE GOVT’ – PANDIKAR TELLS WHY HE RAMMED IN HADI’S ‘HUDUD’ BILL

KUALA LUMPUR: PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang’s Private Member’s Bill to enhance the powers of the Syariah courts has been tabled in Parliament.
He tabled the proposed amendments to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act or RUU355 at about 12.40pm on Thursday, after question time.

Abdul Hadi’s proposed amendments to Section 2 of RUU355 are to increase the current “imprisonment of more than three years or fine of more than RM5,000, or more than six lashes” to “jail term of more than 30 years or fine more than RM100,000 or 100 lashes as administered in line with the syariah crimes”.
Earlier Opposition parliamentarians raised points of order prior to the tabling of the Bill.
Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang asked why his Bill on an Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) was rejected.
Gopeng MP Dr Lee Boon Chye further asked why the four remaining Bills that were not debated on Wednesday were not given priority. Instead, he said, the Dewan Rakyat had given way to Abdul Hadi’s Bill.
Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia explained that he had to accept Abdul Hadi’s Bill because of an executive order by the Government to prioritise the Bill.
Several other Opposition MPs interjected a number of times to raise points of order when Pandikar prompted Abdul Hadi, also the Marang MP, to speak.
Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo brought up Mohamed Tawfik Ismail’s suit which seeks to declare Abdul Hadi’s Bill unconstitutional.
However, Pandikar responded by saying the rule of subjudice did not apply, quoting standing orders from the Indian parliament.
“If the court allows the injunction it means the court is more powerful than Parliament,” he said.
He said there was a similar court case by four individuals who had filed an injunction against the speaker and four others to stop them from allowing a Bill to be tabled, and the court had decided that Parliament had the right to allow the Bill.
“Subjudice applies if the case is already in court. In this case, the suit is only scrutinising whether the Bill is constitutional,” said Pandikar.
In November last year, Abdul Hadi tabled a “tweaked” motion of his Bill to empower the Syariah courts to impose stiffer penalties but he deferred it under Standing Order 15(5).

A New Research Proves That Marathon Running Can Cause Short-Term Damage To Your Kidneys!!!

A New Research Proves That Marathon Running Can Cause Short-Term Damage To Your Kidneys!!!

Are you an avid marathon runner? Then you probably should take note of this…
A research that was led by Yale University suggested that the physical stress caused by running a marathon can cause short-term kidney damage.
To prove this, the university took blood and urine samples of 22 runners who took part in a marathon – 24 hours before the marathon, on the day of the marathon and one day after the marathon.
Multiple tests were carried to find out whether did their kidney really showed signs of damage caused by the run. Some of the tests included analysing the serum creatinine levels, kidney cells on microscopy, and proteins in the urine.
And the end results showed that 82% of the runners showed Stage 1 Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) after completing the long run. AKI is a condition when the kidney fails to filter out wastes from the blood.
It was then explained that such a thing happens due to the rise in core body temperature, dehydration or decreased blood flow to the kidneys.

Apparently, the kidney responds to the physical stress of marathon running as if it’s injured. And it’s not only running a marathon that can cause kidney damage, even that taking part in unusually vigorous activities in warm climates does the same.
But don’t worry, cause in their research it also showed that the kidneys fully recovered within two days after the marathon race. It’s just that probably now you would have to be more attentive to making sure that you are properly hydrated during the run.
To understand this research and its effects in more depth, you can check it out at here American Journal of Kidney Diseases and also watch video on dehydration below
