12 things you might want to delete from your Facebook page

With billions of users, Facebook is one of the most powerful influencers in the world.
But with anything that powerful, you have to be careful how you deal with it.
While Facebook says protecting the privacy of its users is of utmost priority, there are certain pieces of information you might want to consider not having on there, like your home address, or where you went to school.
On Monday an anonymous hacker said they would easily be able to use the information people post in an 'Ask me 10 things' style questionnaire that people post to Facebook and then tag an inordinate amount of friends in. This is because they often include the sort of details many people use for their passwords - things like their maiden name, first pet, or their favourite album, which seem innocuous when in this other context of a personality list.
Here are 12 things you might want to delete:

1. Birthday

Your birthday is one part of an important puzzle which also includes your name and address, with which people can more easily access your bank account and personal details.

2. Phone number

The best case scenario here is acquiring a polite admirer. Worst case scenario? A stalker who calls you incessantly.

3. Most of your "friends"

Oxford psychology professor Robin Dunbar theorised that humans can maintain approximately 150 stable relationships.
After looking at 3,375 Facebook users, Dunbar found that of their Facebook friends, 4.1 were considered dependable, and 13.6 exhibited sympathy during an “emotional crisis.”
Getting rid of the deadwood can make for a healthier interaction with social media.

4. Photographs of your child/young family member

Victoria Nash, acting director of the Oxford Internet Institute, posed a really good questionon this subject, and it’s to do with consent:
What type of information would children want to see about themselves online at a later date?
Previous generations never needed to consider this, but the advent of the internet and social media has given this question more importance.

5. While we're at it, where your child/young family member goes to school

According to the NSPCC the number of recorded sexual offences has increased over the last year.
The report says:
Police recorded 36,429 sexual offences against children in the UK in 2013/2014… in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland police recorded the highest number of sexual offences against children in the past decade.
The last thing you want is to give an opportunity for a sex offender to find out where your child attends school.

6. Location services

Location services is only available on Android or iPhones.
In 2015 TechCrunch reported that over 500 million users accessed Facebook solely from their mobile, which means that the same number has the potential to broadcast their location online, and anyone who may or may not wish you harm now knows where are you.

7. Your manager

This one is a classic. Facebook is a social media platform, and to some degree your interactions ought to be relaxed.
But the CEO of your company can access your wall, he/she has access to every single one of your dodgy status updates - and yes that includes the one moaning about work.
Yes you can set your preferences to exclude your CEO from certain update, but isn't that more hassle?

8. Stop tagging your location

People forget the fact that tagging your location at home actually gives away your address.

9. When and where you're going for holiday

According to financial website This is Money, travelers who are burgled while they are on holiday may not get their insurance claim accepted if they posted their holiday plans on their social media accounts.

10. Your relationship status

If you want to celebrate the blossoming of a new relationship, don't do it on Facebook.
It may not work out, and the consequent "in a relationship" to "single" status change will make you feel worse than you already do.

11. Credit card details

Never. This is never a good idea.

12. Boarding pass pictures

Taking a photo of your boarding pass is often a way to brag about your holiday, but don't be silly! The barcode on your boarding pass is unique to you, and can be used to find the information you gave to the flight company.

Only in Malaysia the locals are ignorant on who is a Bengali and who is a Punjabi Sikh

The Bengalis

The Malaysian Punjabi Sikhs
ARE Punjabis and Bengalis the same people? They share very few similarities but many Malaysians mistakenly think they are the same.

A street poll by The Star found that very few Malaysians could differentiate between Punjabis and Bengalis.

Cleaner Rohani Zain, 48, said she thought that Punjabis and Bengalis are the same people and call them ‘Singh’ or Bengali if the person wore a turban.

Wireman Khor Hock Kim, 40, thought that Bengalis wore turbans while Punjabis were Indians who did not wear the headgear.

“Maybe Bengalis are bigger and taller physcially and has got a distinctive facial feature such as high noses,” he said with uncertainty.

His colleague, James Ooi, 29, said that as a child, he learnt from school friends that those with turbans were Bengalis.

“I am not sure of the difference between the two. So, I call my friends ‘Singh’ because it is in their name and I don’t want to sound rude.

Waiter Johari Abdul Rahman, 28, said some people told him that women with a ‘Kaur’ in their names were Punjabis while men with a ‘Singh’ in their names were Bengalis.

“Honestly, I do not know and just call them by their names,” he said.

Research analyst S. Malarvilli, 29, who has a Bengali aunt, said Punjabis were from Punjab while the Bengalis were from Bengal in India and Bangladesh.

“Their culture and language are different,” she said confidently.

Married to a local Punjabi for 17 years, Austrian Eva Feuchtinger, 46, said Punjabis feel offended when they were mistaken as Bengalis.

“Sometimes my husband would explain the differences to his friends,” she added.

Retired Universiti Sains Malaysia administrator Pal Singh, 62, said some people would still be unable to differentiate between a Punjabi and a Bengali even after they were told the differences.

“The only way (to correct the confusion) would be through education,” he suggested.

Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Association president Sarjit Singh Naura said trying to identify a Punjabi or a Bengali through physical attributes was like trying to identify a Malaysian from Perak and a Malaysian from Malacca.

He said 90% of the Sikhs in Malaysia originated from Punjab but there were also Sikhs from Bengal who wore turbans.

Retired teacher Malkiat Singh Lopo, 66, a Prai Gurdwara committee member, said aside from different geographical origins, Punjabis and Bengalis were very different.

“Punjabis speaks Punjabi and are generally taller with bigger frame and slightly fairer than Bengalis.

“Most Punjabis in Malaysia are Sikhs and could be differentiated from the five Kakars which are their uncut hair (kesh), a comb called kanga worn in their hair, a kirpan (a traditional Sikh sword) which they carry, the iron bracelet (kara) worn on their wrists and the traditional Sikh drawers (kacha) which they wear,” he said.

He said the Bengali and Punjabi language and scripts were different but have some similarities because of their Sanskrit origin.

Malkiat Singh, who has researched Malaysian Sikh history and written a historical novel on the Punjabi pioneers in Malaysia called The Enchanting Prison, said the traditional dresses of the two groups were also different.

“Both Punjabi and Bengali men wear the kurta, a free flowing long sleeves shirt falling near the knees, but Punjabi men wear them with drawstring long pants called pajama, a trouser which was fitting at the legs

“Bengali Hindu men wear the kurta with the dhoti, a rectangular unstitched cloth wrapped around the waist and the legs and knotted at the waist while their Muslim counterpart wear the lungi which is like a sarong,” he said.

Malkiat Singh said Punjabi women wore kurti and salwar, commonly known as a Punjabi suit, with dupatta (a scarf) over their heads while Bengali women wore sarees.

“The Bengali Hindu women wear a bindi, a dot on their forehead, and a sindhoor, a red vermilion powder rubbed on the hair above the fore-head,” he said.

“Punjabi Hindus, Punjabi Muslims and Punjabi Christians do not have a ‘Singh’ or ‘Kaur’ in their names and do not practice the five Kakars.

“There are Punjabis who are Sikhs but cut their hair and shave their beards. Still a Punjabi can identify another while it would be difficult for other races to tell a Bengali from a Punjabi,” he said.

He said one way to avoid confusion was to ask if a person was a Punjabi or a Bengali.

Keep your Money for rainy days.

The Ringgit is expected to go down further to RM 4.50 as Ringgit not used as currency's for trading in world market stock exchange. Ringgit tumbled as the govt. further cut on export of crude and import more. Everyone should take precaution as this is a crashed economy as a whole. Bank Negara only held reserved of RM101 billion at this moment. Our debt climbed to 580 billion. Stop buying any property or car. Disaster is on the way.

World Economic Analyst predict Malaysia will collapse. Stock market & currency value will take a nose dive in a drastic manner.

This is due to world negative economic outlook; World's security issue due to terrorism - ISIS, & middle East conflict. There has been much fear on the Spratly Island; where China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Philippine and Malaysia want to claim ownership rights. The recent China & Russia military training exercise is to show their military alliance & strength. This is to tell US to lay off. Indirectly to warn US, Japan & Phillipine, do not wage war against China or Russia.

Malaysia is compounded by political uncertainty; corruption, abuse of one's power & withholding the truth.

The world has perceived Malaysia as no. 1 in world ranking in: i)Corruption & Scandals; and ii) world's champion in Credit Cards forgery.

So my dear friends & family members; please spend your money wisely. Keep your Money for rainy days. We are heading towards World economic collapse. The days ahead will be difficult and bumpy. The journey is tough & unpredictable. This will hit hard on All of us.

Dr M: If CM is public officer, is PM a coolie?

Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad is puzzled with the Kuala Lumpur High Court's decision to dismiss his suit against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for misfeasance in public office.

In striking out the suit filed by Mahathir and two others, justice Abu Bakar Jais ruled that Najib, as the prime minister, is not a public officer as defined in the federal constitution, and hence the suit has no cause of action.

Mahathir in response asked if that were the case, then what would the prime minister be.

Arul Kanda must quit 1MDB over Bandar M'sia fiasco - From around the Blogs Syed Akbar Ali

Sekarang Jual Beli Bandar Malaysia Sudah Batal, Habis Siapa Akan Tanggung Ganti Rugi ?

http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/opinion/2017/05/04/arul-kanda-must-quit-1mdb-over-bandar-malaysia-fiasco/

Arul Kanda must quit 1MDB over Bandar M'sia fiasco

Dec 31, '15  1MDB proudly announced  IWH sale agreement
“final milestone in 1MDB rationalisation presented to Cabinet on May 29, 2015”
expected to be completed by June 2016
Arul Kanda boasted “IWH highly attractive development partner.."
value maximisation, acceptable commercial terms and certainty of transaction . .

RM7.41b sale of 60% equity in Bandar M'sia collapsed
IWH’s inability to meet payment terms and schedules
Tony Pua asks if refund of RM741m deposit borne by 1MDB or govt
finance minister said IWH to pay 6% interest on outstanding payments until 2023

Syed Akbar Ali comments : Well  1MDB and gomen are both the same - it is taxpayers money. But this is a relevant question. The buyer IWH paid a (10%?) deposit of RM741 million.

If this aborted deal is IWH's fault, then the deposit of RM741 million is burnt.
Gone up in smoke.
IWH will not get their money back.
Lim Kang Hoo will shit enough bricks to build a new causeway to Singapore.

But if the deal was aborted because of 1MDB's fault or the MOF's fault then IWH will be asking for the refund of their 10% deposit (RM741 million).

Will the gomen refund the deposit?
Got mani or not?
What about ganti rugi?
Surely there will be damages, losses, claims and such.
Siapa akan tanggung bayar ganti rugi?

Or are they following the Slumberjack Privatisation Model.
You know where they first sign the contracts and the agreements.
Then they break the contracts and agreements.
Then the lucky concessionaire claims and gets paid ganti rugi or compensation.
Paid by the gomen for breaking the agreement.

For example they signed the agreement for the crooked bridge.
Then they cancelled the crooked bridge.
Then the lucky concessionaire was paid about RM700m compensation.
Without even having to build the crooked  bridge.   Unbelievable.

Or like the muallaf fellow who got the AES deal.
Then they cancelled or suspended the AES.
(What is happening to the AES now?)
Then they paid the muallaf fellow compensation.

So will 1MDB or whoever subsidiary pay "compensation" to IWH for breaking this Bandar Malaysia S&P Agreement? That can be a lot of shopping money.

With termination MOF now to independently service RM2.4b 1MDB sukuk
for the Bandar M'sia project of which not single sen utilised for development

My comments :  This is NOT AN ISSUE. That RM2.4b sukuk was subscribed by all the gomen managed or gomen owned institutions and GLCs.  The KWAKS, the Tabungs, the Providend Funds etc. They subscribed for the RM2.4b sukuk, using  ALL OUR MONEY.

So even if 1MDB does not pay interest (oops . . . profit sharing, its a sukuk) on the RM2.4 billion hutang  NO ONE is going to declare an event of default.  The CEOs are not suicidal.  The hippo may just sit on them and squash the crap out of their CEOs.)

As an example there is talk that the plantation giant has technically defaulted on one of their loans with Tiger Bank. But Tiger Bank reshceduled the loan   "before" the default date happened.   Baik sungguh Tiger Bank.  I dont think this is legal. I believe Tiger Bank must have got a special black and white ICMA approval from Bank Negara Malaysia to allow the rescheduling.  BNM in turn must have got a black and white ICMA approval from MOF.  ICMA means "I Cover My Ass".

Just like the KWAP fellows are keeping absolutely quiet despite SRC NOT BEING able to service or repay that RM4.0 Billion debt.  They feel happy (sampai boleh melanc_p) that the RM4 billion is  guaranteed by the Malaysian taxpayers.  That is beside the point. A default is still a default.

MOF bear burden of payments to Perbadanan Pewira Hartanah Malaysia
wholly-owned subsidiary of (LTAT)
RM2.7b  contract to relocate RMAF base
of which nearly RM2 billion still outstanding.

all-important question : who will refund RM741m deposit paid by IWH ?
Will 1MDB refund the deposit
or will finance ministry once again bailout 1MDB
fork out RM741m as a result of the 1MDB real estate fiasco?

Syed Akbar Ali comments :

So has RM700 million  already been paid to Perwira Hartanah for the relocation?
Where did this RM700 million come from?
Did it come from that 10% deposit or RM741m paid by IWH?
Where is this money now? What has it been used for?

Who is Perwira Hartanah?
Is it registered in the British Virgin Islands ?
Is the Chief Th_ef involved again?
Where is this RM700 million that was paid to Perwira Hartanah?

Folks, can you smell another rat here?

Syed Akbar Ali comments :

This whole thing is just suey.  Bad karma, bad luck or bad joss.

Even if they develop the land will investors be happy buying into such tainted projects?  Stolen moneys, people have died mysteriously, others have been jailed, fired, prosecuted and it goes on.

News is Chief Thief was already about to go to Bandar Malaysia yesterday for a planned event when the event was suddenly cancelled. Malunya.
.

Now where is 1MDB going to get that RM7.4 billion?
.

That IPIC settlement requires a first payment of RM2.5 billion by July 31, 2017.

RM7.4 + RM2.5 = RM9.9 billion ! !   Duit mana mau mari?
.
The Chinese have also pulled the handbrake on Chinese nationals buying properties overseas. So the Iskandar Waterfront project is also stuck because they are depending on sales of units to many Chinese buyers.
.
The GST may go up. O'wise how else are they going to raise the money?
.

I have a simple suggestion which the Chief Thief has possibly not thought about before.

Get that JoLo fellow and his family to return some of the stolen money. Just to cover the RM2.5 billion IPIC payment due by July 31st.  Then at least you will have some breathing room.
.

It is only RM2.5b. He has plenty more stolen money left.  Think about it lah.

Prepaids, you may wish to take up this suggestion, privately.

Bilkis Banu Gang Rape - Indian High Court Sends 11 Hindus To Life In Jail.- from Around the blogs Syed Akbar Ali

Recently we have heard from an Indian fugitive that if he goes back to India (where TWO WARRANTS of arrest have been issued against him) then he will not be treated fairly.

And all the kaum DNA bahalol just believed what he said.

Well here is a very high profile case in India which shows that the Indian Judiciary has acted very professionally and upholds justice.

The prosecution, the defense and the judges are all Hindus (from their names).
The 11 accused are also all Hindus.
Only the victim is a Muslim girl.

The case involves 11 Hindus attacking, raping and murdering Muslims.

In 2002 there were some serious Hindu-Muslim riots in Gujarat. In this case a whole group of 17 people (14 of whom were from one family) was almost completely wiped out. Three people survived, including a girl Bilkis Banu who was gang raped,  beaten and left for dead.

11 attackers who were held responsible were arrested and charged in 2003.
The first guilty convictions were handed down in 2008.

The 11 convicts appealed their conviction.
Yesterday the Bombay High Court upheld the conviction.

The 11 perpetrators have been sent off to life imprisonment.

6 other people, prejudiced Police and hospital doctors who had tampered with evidence were also convicted.

Here is the news :

Bilkis Bano gangrape case: Bombay High Court upholds conviction of 11

17 people, including Bilkis Bano, attacked in Gujarat on March 3, 2002
in aftermath of Godhra train carnage

Bombay high court also set aside acquittal of 6 others for tampering evidence

Bombay high court upheld life sentences for 11 for gangraping Bilkis Bano
during 2002 anti-Muslim violence
convicted 6 people for tampering evidence
one of India’s most high-profile riot cases

court  rejected Central Bureau of Investigation’s appeal to put 3 to death

Justices VK Tahilramani, Mridula Bhatkar dismissed defence argument
that Bilkis’ testimony was “bogus” and “full of contradictions”

Bikis one of 17 people attacked by mob on March 3, 2002 in Dahod district
height of violence in Gujarat
8 were killed, 6 missing and only 3 — Bilkis and 2 family — survived
Bilkis, then 19, was raped and left for dead by miscreants

case grabbed national headlines in 2003
Supreme Court ordered CBI probe

Jan 2008, special court convicted 11 men — Jaswant Nai, Govind Nai, Shailesh Bhatt, Radhyesham Shah, Bipin Chandra Joshi, Kesarbhai Vohania, Pradeep Mordhiya, Bakabhai Vohania, Rajubhai Soni, Mitesh Bhatt, and Ramesh Chandana — for the gang rape of Bilkis and murder of her family members.

11 challenged conviction in Bombay High Court

CBI also challenged acquittal of Gujarat police officers, state hospital doctors on charges of evidence tampering

CBI wanted death penalty for Jaswantbai Nai, Govindbhai Nai, Radhesham Shah
the 3 played significant role in “pre-planning and executing” the entire incident.all 3 of them raped Bilkis, her sister and mother and had been identified by her

court reserved judgment on the appeal in Nov 2016
conducted daily hearings  for five months

Defence counsel Harshad Ponda, argued Bilkis’ testimony “bogus”
CBI backed  her by “fabricating evidence”
Ponda for convicts, raised doubts on three points
chronology of events as narrated by Bilkis
FIR registered in the case by Gujarat Police
photos of dead bodies and other evidence collected
Ponda argued the entire ‘story’ was “fictitious.”
disputed veracity of photographs of bodies that CBI exhumed

for CBI, advocate Hiten Venegaonkar denied defence’s charges
sought death penalty,  arguing case was “mass murder”
14 members of family, including a child three days old, had been killed

the riots had caused an “exodus”
while Bilkis and her family on the run, they were raped and murdered
the case warranted maximum punishment,” he said.

My comments : To say that the Indian penal system will be unfair on account of religion (Hindu versus Muslim) is therefore not true. That is an unfair and wicked thing to say. That will be a fitnah.

It is also to be noted that the Indian High Court has upheld the conviction of a crime committed  in 2002  when the Governor of Gujarat was Narendra Modi, who is now the Prime Minister of India.  Modi's  "administration has been considered complicit in the 2002 Gujarat riots, or otherwise criticised for its handling of it, although a court found no evidence to prosecute Modi."

It is to be noted that these 11 criminals have been under detention since 2003. And now they will remain in jail for life.

In Malaysia the Attorney General can get fired in 24 hours just for doing his job of wanting to prosecute a case.  Criminals seem to like Malaysia. They feel protected.

SEPANG: One of the runways at Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has been closed until further notice, after a Malaysia Airlines plane's tyres deflated upon landing.

Flight MH726 from Jakarta had two tyres deflate after it landed at 7.13am on Tuesday (May 2) on Runway 2.

In a statement, Malaysia Airlines said the Boeing 738 aircraft's passengers and crew safely disembarked and were transferred by bus to the terminal, and that it would be investigating the incident.

"The airline will be investigating the cause of the incident on the Boeing 738 aircraft," it said. "Due to an aircraft shortage, some flights utilising this aircraft will be upgraded to the Airbus 330 - and we are looking into deploying the Airbus 380 aircraft to service the Australian routes."

It added: "Runway 2 at KLIA will be closed until further notice."

We must thank Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed that he put in FOUR runways at the KLIA.  So we still have THREE more operational runways. Dont worry folks.

By coincidence just days ago I was listening to someone talking about these  recurring problems at the KLIA.

Talk is pilots are complaining that the runways at the KLIA are not even. They are uneven. The reason being the tarmac is subsiding (or sinking).  As a result when planes land, the speed of the landing and hitting the "bumps" can make the tyres explode. This is a dangerous situation.

This is what has happened to Flight M726 from Jakarta. TWO of the planes tyres deflated (aka exploded).

The fact that Runway 2 is closed until further notice is plain acknowledgement that the runway is sinking.  It is not the fault of the pilot.

The KLIA in Sepang is part of a very large peaty area with a fairly thick layer of peat on the surface.  Airport runways on peaty soil need to be properly engineered with very solid ground preparation (piling, ground treatment etc).  Otherwise the ground will sink under the weight of heavy concrete structures (like runways) built over it.

Here is more news.  It is not just the runways that are sinking.

Talk is the huge fuel storage tanks (that store the aircraft fuel) at the KLIA in Sepang are also sinking into the peaty ground.

As a result of the settling,  there has been water seepage into the fuel reservoirs.  And the quality of aviation  fuel may be compromised.  Of course remedial measures are in place. But a permanent fix is required.

KLIA has already started talking with contractors to fix the problem. The expertise is rather restricted and only one engineering company seems to have the know how to fix this unique problem at the KLIA.  I dont know the contractor's name but I know the country they come from.

The KLIA has to fix ground measuring sensors all around the airport. Any settlement has to be detected early and counter measures taken asap.  A stitch in time can easily save nine.

Four years left for plateau production in Yadana: Total

Total has started production from LCP-Badamyar project (Low Compression Platform), the new wellhead platform on May 2.

It is an extension of Yadana gas field, an offshore gas field in the Andaman Sea, which is the biggest gas production field in Myanmar. French oil and gas giant Total is the operator of Yadana project with 31.2 percent interest, while partners own the rest: US Chevron-Unocal is holding 28.3pc, Thai firm PTTEP with 25.5pc and state-owned Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) with 15pc.

The Myanmar Times conducted an exclusive interview with Xavier Preel, the general manager of Total E&P Myanmar in Yangon on May 2, following inauguration of LCP-Badamyar project. Mr Preel joined Total E&P Myanmar as General Manager in July 2014 and has worked for Total since 1980.

Yadana gas field is the biggest and the oldest one in Myanmar. What do you feel about it?

Yadana project has been developing a long time ago since 1995, more than 20 years ago. Production started in 1998 and is still producing with plateau production of 8 billion cubic metres per year. We are quite happy today about the development of additional gas field, Badamyar. It means that we are able to maintain plateau production beyond 2020.

Even crude price was falling since 2014 globally, but Total has decided to launch this remarkable project. Why did you decide to launch this project?

We launched LCP-Badamyar project in 2014 during the time when the oil price was decreasing. We have done this because we are committed to supply clean, reliable and affordable energy to customers because we are supplying 15 percent of gas consumption in Myanmar, and we are also exporting to Thailand. So it’s a strong commitment. That’s why we are able to launch this important project which is now completely done.

Another concern among the public is the domestic gas supply. People are still asking about more gas even though domestic gas consumption is still quite low. So with new extension of LCP-Badamyar, how much gas could you supply more for domestic use?

We can supply more gas. But when supplying more gas, we want to be sure that the gas is actually used. You can increase production but if you don’t have power plants to use the gas, you can’t use [generate] electricity. So it is not the question of more production. It is the question of plan. We are seeing that it is becoming the priority of the government today.

Could you tell us how much gas the Yadana project can supply?

We can supply a little bit more. Today we are supplying 230 million cubic feet per day. We can produce a little bit more. But we are also aware that production is expected to decline a lot by 2021. And then we have to discuss about it. It is not easy because we need to act and plan with the ministry [the Ministry of Electricity and Energy]. The ministry decides how much gas can be used from Yadana and how much gas from the other production fields.

So are there only four years left for plateau production of Yadana gas field?

Yes, that’s why the government is working hard. We have four years until production starts to decline. It will be finished by 2021 though production will go on quite a long time.

Xavier Preel, general manager of Total E&P Myanmar. Nyan Zay Htet / The Myanmar TimesXavier Preel, general manager of Total E&P Myanmar. Nyan Zay Htet / The Myanmar Times

What about the natural gas price at the moment? Crude oil price is still falling. Is the operation still profitable economically?

Today, operation of Yadana is still profitable. We are not losing money. It is true that oil price is more or less still stabilised at around US$50 per barrel. We are having less revenue. That is also a concern for the state [Myanmar]. But it is really difficult to predict what oil price would be. What we need to do is lower the cost for production. That is quite important. In that regard, we are quite happy that LCP-Badamyar project is was done well with more than 20 percent below the original budget. That’s a great achievement. That’s the money of everyone and all the partners, particularly the state.

In recent years, Total has been acquiring more interests in other offshore blocks. What is Total doing in other blocks?
Xavier Preel, general manager of Total E&P Myanmar. Nyan Zay Htet / The Myanmar Times

We are very committed to Myanmar to supply energy. We are the first foreign company to invest in Myanmar and invest in the development of Yadana project. Part of the commitment is to look for additional gas reserve. We think Myanmar contains a lot of gas reserve but it is to be approved. We have taken exploration farming in the blocks.

Today we have taken a significant participation in seven blocks which are all offshore. We are partner of new discovery of A-6. We have 40 percent interest together with Woodside and local company MPRL. We have announced gas discovery in 2016. It is in 2000-metre depth – really deep water. We shall conduct appraisal wells starting from mid-2017. And we plan to start two or three wells. We will be able to confirm this discovery and start to think about potential development. We are doing exploration activities on all these seven blocks. But I want to stress that exploration doesn’t mean that gas is being discovered. There is still a long way until discovery and before any potential developments.

Total has been in Myanmar 25 years, and you have worked with the previous administration as well as the current one. What do you think of the NLD-led government?

I want to say that energy is quite important for economic development of the country. I see that the government is doing a lot of work establishing a proper energy policy. That’s quite good. I think decision will be made shortly to have a clear vision of what kind of energy plan will be implemented. We can be optimistic about the potential of Myanmar. Myanmar has been blessed by its low-CO2 energy which is quite an issue for Myanmar because it is one of the countries which are most affected by global warming.

CHINA CONSORTIUM GIVES NO FACE, MINCES NO WORDS AND MAY SUE OVER ABORTED TRX CITY DEAL

‘WE TAKE THE MATTER VERY SERIOUSLY & MAY SUE’, IWH-CREC TELLS TRX CITY

IWH CREC Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between Iskandar Waterfront Holdings Sdn Bhd (IWH) and China Railway Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd (CREC), has disputed TRX City Sdn Bhd’s claim yesterday over the sale of its 60 percent equity interest in Bandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

It further said the press release issued by TRX City was not entirely accurate.

“IWH CREC is concerned with the content of the termination notice and the subsequent press release issued by TRX City, which, given the factual matrix, does not fully and accurately reflect the circumstances and conduct of the parties in this matter,” IWH CREC said in a statement.

“IWH CREC takes this matter very seriously and is at present reviewing the content of the termination notice and press release with its advisors and legal counsel,” it said adding that a further announcement on this matter will be made in due course.

IWC CREC Sdn Bhd is a 60-40 consortium between IWH and CREC.

TRX City, which is owned by the Ministry of Finance, said in a statement yesterday that the share sale agreement (SSA) entered into on Dec 31, 2015 with the IWH CREC consortium had lapsed.

“This is because, despite repeated extensions being granted, IWH-CREC failed to meet the payment obligations outlined in the conditions precedent under the SSA.

“As a result, the share sale agreement between the parties stands null and void with immediate effect,” it had said, adding that the government will now shelve its plan to sell the land.

The Bandar Malaysia deal was previously touted as part of the 1MDB rationalisation plan to pare down its debt.

The 486-acre prime land in Sungai Besi had since been transferred and placed under the Finance Ministry.

Public announcement – Request for donations for 8 Months-Old Down Syndrome Baby Girl heart Sugery

COMMUNITY【COMMUNITY】8 Months-Old Down Syndrome Baby Girl Urgently Needs Funding For Heart Operation!!

It was a heartbreaking moment when I first saw this post on Facebook where this little baby girl who diagnosed with Down syndrome is now suffering from heart disease.

According to the funding post posted by One Hope Charity on Facebook, Grace was diagnosed with three defects in her heart, where the heart appears to have two holes and the main heart vascular deformed. As her situation is getting worse day by day, she now urgently needs a total amount of 80,000 ringgit for her heart surgery.

On 27th of August 2016, Grace came into the world. However, this baby girl was diagnosed with Down syndrome and congenital heart disease. As she needed extra medication care, she was immediately admitted to Newborn Intensive Care Unit for observation.

Two months later, Grace’s situation improved. With her doctor’s recommendation, her parents were allowed to bring her home while waiting for the authority to schedule for her heart surgery. When Grace was 6 months old, her situation had turned for the worse as her lung was infected and needed to be treated immediately.

Grace’s parents were advised to proceed the heart surgery as soon as possible. However, they could not afford the huge amount of surgery expenses. Her father was now unemployed while her mother is working in an insurance company as a clerk with a monthly salary of RM 1,700.

The parents are having 4 children where Grace is the youngest child in the family. The family is currently living with her grandaunt who retired from her work. In another word, the family is now living penniless.

Although the baby girl was diagnosed with Down syndrome, her parents never gave up hope on her because they loved her. They have agreed with One Hope Charity to start up a fundraising through social media. One Hope Charity first donated RM 8,000 to help out the parents to transfer Grace to the specialist. [Karma Strikes Back] Pet Owner Fined For Causing Pain And Suffering To Her Dog

When animal abusers get what they deserve, there is just this slight feeling of satisfaction. A woman who is a rice trader was fined RM2,000, in default three months’ jail for causing pain to her dog.

Chon Kam Foong, 48, was charged with unreasonably causing pain and suffering to her Labrador Cross dog by tightly tying the animal at the neck with a steel chain at her house in Pandan Indah at 4.30pm on November 30 last year.

As reported by The Star, Magistrate Mohamad Firdaus Sadina Ali meted out the fine on Chon who pleaded guilty to the charge. She paid the fine.

She was also ordered to pay RM6,415 to the Veterinary Service Department for treatment cost and boarding for 154 days.

The charge is under Section 44 (1) (d) of the Animals (Amendment) Act 2013 provides a fine of up to RM50,000, or imprisonment for up to a year, or both if found guilty.

A team from the department went to Chon’s house after the department received a report of a 2-year-old dog being caged in front of her house. They found the male dog in pain as its neck was tightly chained and cut marks were visible.

Chon, who was unrepresented, said she was only helping her husband to sell rice and they had four children to support.

I wonder if she would learn her lesson after paying that large sum of money, there should also be a restriction against owning other pets for her!!

Host Of Malaysia’s Largest Facebook Group 【Kepong People】Committed Suicide Due To Overwhelming Stress!

FacebookFacebook MessengerTwitterLinkedInWhatsAppLineWeChatSkypeFlipboardShare210
2nd May 2017, a 30-years-old Malaysian lady had herself killed after jumping off from the condominium building where she lived with her family. The lady was identified as the host of  【Kepong People】on Facebook. 【Kepong People】is one of the largest Facebook group communities which has more than 110k of members.

According to the Chief District Officer, Ali Ahmad, Kendy first attempted to jump down from a nearby building which was located approximately 300 meters away from her home, however, she was stopped by the public and informed her husband about her suicidal attempt. Her husband then immediately rushed to her and sent her back to their condominium. The husband parked the car on the 4th-floor of the parking lot. As they were about to get off the car, Kendy suddenly opens the car door, runs to the sidewall and jumped off the building.

Kendy was confirmed to be suffering depression and had received a year of psychiatric treatment in the hospital. According to the police investigation, it was shown that the deceased who committed suicide was overwhelmed with her family and marriage problem.

In fact, 6 days ago before Kendy committed suicide, she made a public confession of her 13 years of marriage life on Facebook. She explained how she met her husband and how her life took a turn for the worse after her marriage with her husband.

According to her statements on Facebook, she met her husband for the first time at the age of 16. They fell in love with each other. As they were so in love, they had tried the “forbidden fruit” without any safety precaution. After 3 months, she noticed that she was pregnant and her husband was willing to take on the responsibility to take care of her and the baby. Kendy married her husband with the thoughts of it would be a happy marriage as she loved her husband so much.

She stated that, during the 13 years of marriage, she was tortured by her husband where she has to physically bear with domestic violence while mentally enduring the pain of her husband having affairs. Kendy could not bear the pain her husband brought to her, but still, she forgave him as she loved him so much.

Other than marriage problem, she was also facing another family problem with her mother-in-law where she claimed that she was being treated unfairly in the family. This finally led her to buy her own home with her husband and moved out in 2012.

In the same year, she was pregnant with her youngest son and she thought her life had changed and it would be a lifetime happiness with her family. Unfortunately, her husband had repeated the same mistake where Kendy ‘caught’ him red-handed having an affair, again. They quarrelled about the same issue over and over again. As she could not endure the pain anymore, she was diagnosed of having depression in 2016.

In 2017, Kendy finally had the courage to divorce her husband. However, they still did not manage to compromise about the child custody and maintenance issues. Ultimately, all this build up of stress had ‘forced’ her to commit suicide and ending her pain.

Rawang Hit And Run Case: Driver Of Hit And Run Car Says He Has Nothing To Do With The Accident!!

In case you didn’t know, there was a hit and run case on a highway heading to Rawang. In the video submitted in Info Roadblock JPJ/Polis a modified Ford is seen speeding and swerving to overtake other drivers on the road.

When collided with another car, the driver just drove off without concerning about the people he just hit.

Although the incident took place on April 30, the post had over 13,000 shares ever since it was posted up earlier today.

One commenter recognises the car plate number and immediately screen capture the owner’s facebook. To which the owner of the vehicle, Hariharen Annadurai, claims that he had lent his car to his friend that day, but his friend told him a different story where someone hit the Ford and ran away. Luckily for this video, he now knows the truth.

Bro, your friend lied to you, if you knew it was him, you should turn him in to settle this matter, he hit someone and ran away. He shouldn’t be getting away even if it was just a minor bump, a hit is a hit!

To which I very much agree too. We all know no matter which lane we drive in, when accidents are fated to happen, it will happen! But we can avoid accidents by looking out for each other and helping one another on the road!

Have a look at the video and let us know what you think!
