Infamous German ‘Beggar’ Is Spotted In Malaysia Living In Luxury!!

Benjamin Holst, 32, is known worldwide as a professional beggar in Asia and he is here in Malaysia since March 2 by train from Singapore! Taking advantage of locals who are compassionate at heart, they fall for his story lock, stock, and barrel, not realising Benjamin was using their hard earned money to fund his traveling and partying lifestyle.

He has earned many undesirable labels such as “Asia’s biggest scammer” and “useless beggar” to name a few from social media as he is constantly updating his Facebook profile.
His most recent update on Facebook shows that he is leaving Malaysia to fly to Vietnam with a caption of “I say Good bye I come back 2weeks don’t worry.” Heads up Vietnam, he’s visiting, be warned! Everyone please be alert and inform each other if he is seen anywhere!

Before he left for Vietnam, he was having a blast with his stay in Malaysia, on March 7, his Facebook status read, “Back in Kuala Lumpur. Hope good nightlife today and buy my flight ticket to Da Nang,” along with pictures of the Petronas Twin Towers and a meal most likely bought with another’s money.

A student from the University of Nottingham, Lauren Sula, 23, warned locals via the Backpackers Buddies Malaysia Facebook group to stay away from Benjamin Holst. He suffers from a rare form of localised gigantism called Macrodystrophia lipomatosa on his right leg that has caused it to swell to gigantic proportions.

“He takes advantage of people all over Asia by begging for money, which you may at first think is to help fund his health care for his disability,” she wrote.
“However, he brags on his personal Facebook page about how he’s staying in expensive hotels, eating in nice restaurants and spending endless money on prostitutes,” she added.

During the day he usually picks spots that are crowded and populated to panhandle on and during the night, he would go out and enjoy the nightlife, you would expect him to have difficulty in walking with his swollen leg, but he was walking normally a witness told

His antics first came to light in September 2014 when his story went viral on social media about him as a disabled tourist whose money and passport was stolen in Bangkok. Concerned Thai citizens raised 50,000 baht (RM6,300) for him to return to Germany and reunite with his family but were shocked to see photos of him drinking and partying at a bar in Pattaya the next day.
