Government no money and have asked the Government sponsored university students to take a year break
Somebody send me the below
Government no money and have asked the Government sponsored university
students to take a year break. Read more below
I believe that
BN Gomen is short of money & is also very concerned with the ever
increasing number of unemployed graduates, this gap year initiative is Najib's
& his Minister's ways to tackle these two thorny problems!!!
Idris Jusoh, the Minister of Higher Education announced his Ministry will *implement a Gap Year 2017 starting September*. Undergraduates from 8 public universities: *UUM, UKM, UPM, UITM, UTHO, UMS* have been informed to leave the campus for a year to become 'Warong' entrepreneurs. Below are 2 letters that I picked up from Syed's blog.

Dear Syed,
I’m pretty sure you have heard Menteri Pengajian Tinggi Idris Jusoh’s announcement this week on their latest program for our University students... the ‘gap year’ which will commence this September 2017, with guinea pigs UiTM and UKM students to try it out first.
It so happens that my youngest child is currently doing her diploma at the UiTM and hence would be affected by this new program whereby they not only will have to miss one semester this year (supposedly to start in June but now postponed to September) but that they will be compelled ‘wajib’ to take study leave for one year to join the Army, Police Force, JPAM or to do business as young entrepreneurs – for 1 one year before their final semester – then only they can continue and complete their university course!
What the hell is this? I can compromise with other news in this bolehland but I definitely cannot hold myself from feeling angry with this, yet another stupid, rubbish, mad idea of the BN Govt.
Apa ni suruh pelajar tangguh pengajian? Are the government’s coffers so barren now that they must ask students to take study leave?
If it is to compel these university students to become patriotic then what happened to PLKN? But PLKN was abolished in 2015. Why did they abolish PLKN? Now they are bullying our university students just so that the BN Govt can cover up their state of no money!!!
My child should be able to graduate next year but because of this stupid thing she and so many of her peers would have to wait one whole year to finish and start their degree courses. For Idris Jusoh’s info the students’ momentum to study will definitely decline and their morale crash. Lagi baik cuti satu tahun terus kahwin!!!
I am very angry with this latest idea of this Moron Govt.
My ears are fuming with fire.
And my blood pressure has risen this couple of days.
Not good.
If we all still vote for this BN Govt this coming 14GE, then blame it on ourselves this time for not even God can help us!!!
Thank you for reading this dear Syed. This time it’s not about religion but the fate of our children – especially the Malay Bumiputera children whom this govt thinks it can bully at its disposal!

Thank you Ms A. for taking time to share this with us. I have known Idris Jusoh since 2000 – 17 years ago. He always looked blur.
I found out from someone in Terengganu that when he was Menteri Besar of Terengganu, Idris Jusoh did ask all his EXCO members to read my book, ‘Malaysia and the Club of Doom – The Collapse of the Islamic Countries’. Sadly, they did not read it closely enough.
This GAP program is another asinine idea. Before this, the PLKN (National Service program) was just an excuse to dish out money to cronies running the program. When the money ran out, they abolished National Service (PLKN).
I agree that now they are doing this GAP year for students at these eight Govt universities because the Govt has run out of money. They are basically kicking the students out. There is no money.
Idris says similar programs have been carried out in other countries. This shows his total ignorance. No need to go overseas lah brader. Our local universities have had apprenticeship programs and training programs for a long time.
My son (architect) apprenticed for one semester. So did my nephew (engineer).
But these are training programs carefully thought out and well implemented. My nephew (an engineer) apprenticed for a semester with an engineering company. And they have hired him to work with them.
My son apprenticed with an architect’s firm for a semester. He is an architect.
Their universities did not send them to become Soldiers in the Army, Traffic Policemen or Immigration enforcers. What is the connection or relevance to their areas of study?
What Idris is doing is “shifting Budgets”. The Ministry of Higher Education has no money to house the students. So send them to the Army, Police and Immigration for one year where the MINDEF and Home Affairs ministries can spend their Budgets (to pay and house these students). Banyak cantik...
And how many students are involved here? 10,000??? 20,000???
The Govt says that youth unemployment (below 25 years old?) has already exceeded 10%. This is *THREE TIMES* the national average of about 3.5%.
I don't believe BOTH these figures. I think the Govt is lying. I believe the unemployment rates among Malaysians are higher. Especially among the Malays and Bumiputras.
But in this scenario how are another 10,000 or 20,000 “unqualified” University students going to get ’employment’ for one whole year? By the time they even find a job, six months would have gone by.
I have another niece who was a top student (9As in SPM). She later graduated in the top percentile as an engineer. Yet it took her almost a year to get a job. So how are unqualified students going to get a job for just one year? Even McDonald’s will not hire them.
So here is what will happen. The Malay students will go back to their houses and kampongs and 'lepak' for one year. Some (not many) will become Warong Entrepreneurs. Most will just hang around, not knowing what to do. That is what will happen.
And after ONE YEAR of 'lepak' they would have forgotten their studies, especially those who are doing follow through courses like Finance 1 followed by Finance 2. Or Management Accounting 1 followed by Management Accounting 2. They would have forgotten all the formulas and the concepts. They can catch up but it will take more reading, more time on the students.
Idris Jusoh was also the architect of that disastrous RM1 Billion Besut education hub.
If you want to spoil your week, you can read more about the *GAP* inside Idris Jusoh’s head here.

So many malls, so few shoppers
Why so many shopping complexes and also so many shops open without or few customers surviving, this is good way to launder dirty and illegal money from the Drugs, gambling, Prostitution, corruption and other dirty money. No questions ask and just fill in false sales receipts. It is happening here in Malaysia big time. Are you surprised as I am not?
So many malls, so few shoppers
Many malls are struggling to stay afloat with shoppers tightening their belts.

JULIAN
Oh, 40, used to be a mall regular. The marketing consultant visited Subang
Parade, a suburban mall, every week for groceries but in the past few months,
the trips have been reduced to once a fortnight.
For Oh,
the rationale is simple. “I have cut my spending because petrol prices, my
mortgage and grocery bills have gone up significantly.”
Leann
Jamaluddin, 25, is another shopper rethinking her mall habit. The freelance
writer, who used to just “hang out” at malls, only goes to 1Utama in Petaling
Jaya when there is a sale or for a spot of window shopping.
“I
usually go to malls when there's a sale or when I need to buy shoes or
undergarments.
“Sometimes
it is to watch movies, which is only on a Thursday when there is a buy one,
free one promotion for certain cardholders.”
Mall
glut
The
changing habit of consumers like Oh and Leann spells trouble for malls nationwide
as they grapple with a glut of retail space and belt-tightening shoppers.
There
are 255 malls in the Klang Valley alone and 14 more are set to open this year
despite the gloomy outlook.
A
retail expert, Henry Butcher Retail managing director Tan Hai Hsin, said malls
are facing hard times as the market softens with many malls facing plunging
foot traffic.
Many
retailers are also cautious about business expansion. “It will be a challenge
for shopping malls to fill up their retail lots upon opening,” said Tan, who
has been tracking malls since 1995.
“With
the current market condition, it is good if a mall can open with 80% occupancy
rate in the first month.”
Tan
said at the end of 2016, there were 255 malls in the Klang Valley (Kuala
Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya) with total retail supply of about 68.2 million
square feet.
“The
average occupancy rate of these malls was 79.9% in 2016. The 14 malls expected
to open this year will have a total net floor area of 6.3 million sq ft.”
Nine
malls were slated to open in 2015 but delayed their plans. The largest mall to
open this year is Empire City Mall (167,000 sq metres of net floor area).
Tan
said: “This mall was supposed to open in 2015 but delayed it several times.
Anchor tenants include Parkson, CJ CGV Cinemas, an Olympic-sized ice skating
ring and a large bowling alley.”
Weak
consumer demand
Leann,
the writer, said she was cutting down on dining out and has resorted to using
cheaper beauty products.
“Each
time I pick up something at the mall, I look at the price and think 10 times
before buying.
“We are
not only burdened by debts and loans but other commitments as well like
savings, insurance and supporting my family,” she said.
Physiotherapist
Kiran Sam Raj, 30, is another consumer reining back his spending. He said he
had cut down his expenses by nearly 50% to tackle the rising cost of goods and
services.
“The
amount I usually spend doesn’t seem to go far these days. Now I only buy
essentials such as toiletries.
“I’ve
also started to look out more for promotions and sales. Prices of goods keeps
increasing but our salary remains the same.”
Tan
said the key challenges for mall owners this year would be reduced consumer
spending, rising operating costs and tenant acquisition.
“Retail
spending has not recovered to pre-GST levels,” he said, referring to the goods
and services tax which came into effect on April 1, 2015.
Things
are not expected to improve in the next six months.
Freebies
to lure tenants
“Mall
owners are also facing higher operating costs (air-conditioning, security,
cleaning and staff), yet they are not able to increase rental rates.
“As for
tenants, the weak market is preventing many national chain retailers from
signing leases in the malls.”
Mall
owners are wooing tenants with monetary incentives, Tan said. They are offering
lower rentals, longer rent-free period and subsidised renovation costs to
attract reputable tenants to open shop.
Tan,
however, dismissed the notion that retailers were fleeing prime malls for
“affordable” locations.
“There
is no such trend. Retailers want to operate in malls with high shopper traffic.
They would rather pay more to operate in malls with high volume. They will not
move to a mall with 50% lower rental where there is no shopper traffic.”
Vito
fitness equipment and Sun Paradise swimwear apparel senior manager Favian Ong
said there has been a decline of 10%-15% in sales since the first quarter of
2016.
“There
are generally fewer visitors to the malls. Another factor is that the malls are
scattered and shoppers have too many options,” he said.
Ong
said shoppers were also more cautious in their spending and more people would
rather save than splurge on unnecessary items.
“We
don’t expect to see much sales in the next two quarters. Our profit has
remained flat. Hopefully, by Christmas this year, we will see better
sentiment,” he said.
Ong,
who manages 20 outlets, said his company might close two outlets if the numbers
do not improve.
BOMBSHELL – ZAHID TO STRIKE AGAINST NAJIB & ROSMAH SOON: KHAIRY & TAJUDDIN AMONG TEAM B’S ‘DARE-TO-DIE HITMEN’ READY TO PLUNGE IN THE KNIFE?
Night of the long knives coming sooner than later for Najib
team. Me think just after RU355 is tabled by PAS and defeated in Parliament.
This will be an excuse by Team Zahid. I suspect Anwar is in Cahoots with Zahid
on this one as Anwar still have support in UMNO and Zahid have always been a
Anwar supported and Hench man. Zahid by himself cannot make the more due to not
having enough support in UMNO.
BOMBSHELL – ZAHID TO STRIKE AGAINST NAJIB & ROSMAH SOON: KHAIRY & TAJUDDIN AMONG TEAM B’S ‘DARE-TO-DIE HITMEN’ READY TO PLUNGE IN THE KNIFE?
The first time Zahid Hamidi came into my consciousness was when, as Ketua Pemuda, he stood up as the “berani mati” front guy for Anwar Ibrahim, and proceeded to put in his two cents worth to hantam Mahathir,
Since then I have kept an eye on him…. (just one eye because the other one is always shut) as that is how these umno guys keep an eye on things to!
When he was arrested under the ISA in 1998 and spent 10 days in one of His Majesty’s Yang di Pertuan Agong’s prison, I was one of those who waited to see what he would do upon his release. I saw that come what may, his loyalty to umno remained steadfast. Most commendable.
When he was appointed DPM, my first thought was simply this : What kind of an idiot is this najib razak to appoint someone like Zahid to be DPM if all najib wants is a stop gap measure to allow him to strengthen his hold over umno after his dismissal of Mahyuddin? To me Zahid Hamidi is not going to play second fiddle to anyone – especially to najib razak …and now that he is DPM, there was no way najib razak can stop him from being PM if he so desired.
The question now is when does Zahid want to be president of umno and from there take for himself whatever has been the providence of past presidents of umno – of which being prime minister of Malaysia is, but just one on the list of choices he will have.
I am sure by now Zahid have already line up a number of his “berani mati” henchman to do the dastardly deed of plunging the knife into najib’s back when najib is not looking….or as some joker may say…it is actually into rosmah’s back that Zahid must plunge that knife…but I am sure that Zahid will know what he has to do!
One of your “berani mati” machai must be KJ – he of that “I want to be PM before I am 40” lofty ambitions, with that Oxfart pedigree and a father in law who was once PM and president of umno. Zahid watch your back with this guy….
And the other has to be Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, a fellow countrymen from Perak…from Pasir Salak no less – almost a neighbour…and one that can be counted upon to “berani mati” for anybody just as long as the spoils for doing so is lucrative enough!
If you have these two on your side…you are doubly blessed. The three of you are enough to do what ever it is you want to do to najib and spouse.
The question that you now have to answer for yourself is WHEN?

Finally, Umno feels the pinch
It is not UMNO feeling
the pinch because of the Non-Malays opposition; it is the majority of Malays
who feel that their private lives are now brought into dispute by PAS and UMNO.
The Malays supported UMNO instead PAS since independence because UMNO consign religion
to personal preferences. The Malay support for UMNO started eroding when UMNO
started becoming more PAS than PAS starting in the 1980’s under Mahathir’s
administration and Islam was thrust into the government by handpicked Anwar. The
trend of Malays voting for DAP started then. UMNO only survive because of the
Non-Malays who saw PAS as a bigger threat. Non with no difference between PAS
and UMNO, the Non-Malays who are supporting the opposition and UMNO is realizing
now the all the while it was Non-Malays who remain faithful to BN-UMNO and now
they have lost this very support which have kept them in power all the along

Prime Minister Najib Razak has said BN will
not have an official stand on the Act 355 amendment bill but does that mean BN
reps can vote whichever way they like if it's tabled?
COMMENT
By Lim Sue Goan
Umno has made countless U-turns, but the latest
one involving the amendment of the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act
1965 (Act 355) has won tremendous applause from the Malaysian public as it
assures us that our secular system will not be affected as yet.
The U-turn has been a consequence of strong
opposition from other Barisan Nasional component parties.
If Umno had decided to press on with the tabling
of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s private member’s bill, it is anticipated
that the BN coalition would have been headed for a decisive split, that could
bring down the BN government before the bill even gets to the debate and any
voting takes place.
Umno has decided to drop the bill having weighed
the pros and cons, including the possibility that the bill will not even get
adopted in the Dewan Rakyat.
Anyway, the U-turn on the part of Umno has been
a positive development for the Chinese-majority parties in BN, especially with
so many negative developments in recent years making it hard for these parties
to make any real progress.
If the nation were to go to the polls right
away, MCA and Gerakan will get some additional support from the Chinese
community, but unfortunately this is not going to happen tomorrow and the
amendment to Act 355 issue has yet to come to a complete close and could tip
the balance once again.
Given the earlier precedent whereby the Minister
in the Prime Minister’s Department Azalina Othman Said motioned in the Dewan
Rakyat on May 27 last year to seek to prioritise the private member’s bill,
there is concern that some Umno ministers might once again offer the green
light for Hadi’s private member’s bill to take precedence.
The government decided not to take over the
private member’s bill due to lack of consensus in the BN Supreme Council
meeting last Wednesday, but this does not mean Umno will give up an opportunity
to cooperate with PAS.
Umno openly reneging on its pledge has hurt the
feelings of the Islamist party, clouding the prospects for future
collaboration.
Najib has said BN will not have an official
stand on the Act 355 amendment bill. Does that mean if the bill gets to the
debate and voting in Dewan Rakyat, BN reps can vote whichever way they like, in
particular Umno reps? If Umno lawmakers were to endorse the private bill in
Parliament, the unity and mutual trust among BN parties will once again come
under assault.
Another critical question now is how the PAS
leadership is going to interpret Umno’s change of mind. How are they going to
answer to the grassroots and supporters if they choose to continue trusting
Umno?
Will the mutual trust established with so much
difficulty between the two parties ever stand the test of time?
It looks like Umno is not going to abandon PAS
anytime soon so that the Islamist party will not get to mend its ties with PKR
or seal a new seat allocation agreement with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia
(PPBM), hence threatening the survival of Umno.
If Hadi’s bill crashes again this time, it is
believed that the party will do something at the muktamar later this month. If
PAS decides not to work with Umno, the Act 355 issue could very well be
exploited as a potent weapon to hit out at Umno.
PAS leaders’ immediate reactions have been
rather toned down, saying instead that such a development was well “within
anticipation, disappointing or causing uneasiness” while observing Umno’s next
course of action.
Umno’s U-turn has put the party in a very
difficult situation, as the move has failed many of its supporters as well as
religious organisations and NGOs. For instance, the Malaysian Islamic Youth
Movement (Abim) has urged the government to take full responsibility for
reneging on its pledge to table the Act 355 amendment bill.
Thanks to Act 355, Umno leaders require more
than ever some positive news to lift the party’s morale, and this probably
explains why Malaysia reached a very quick agreement on the negotiations with
Pyongyang by sending back the body of Kim Jong Nam along with the three North
Korean suspects, in exchange for the safe return of nine Malaysian citizens
stranded in Pyongyang.
The government’s decision to drop Act 355 will
most definitely frustrate the conservatives in Umno. With their meticulously
designed move now having crashed, they may have to come up with some other
strategies to materialise the objective of a “grand unity among the Malays”.
The latest development in the Act 355 issue has
dealt a severe blow to Umno, but the game is far from over. Umno will have to
draw up some new plans to consolidate its hold of the Malay vote. As such, it
is unlikely GE14 will be held very soon.
From dividing the opposition camp to the
attempted collusion between Umno and PAS, to the unreserved exposure of BN’s
indecision, it proves that the Act 355 issue is indeed a double-edged sword
that could hurt both sides. It is advisable to quit this risky game soon before
it causes more havoc.
