Comments – Just tip of iceberg – More will fail and collapse over
the years as renegade Developers and builders cut corners to make maximum
profits. I would not but a condo or an office in a high rise building. Not in
Malaysia as I don’t want to die early. Lack of enforcement and careless attitude by the enforcement agencies
A building block of Klang’s Centro Mall that was under renovation had trapped 62 people in it when parts of the roofing suddenly came crashing down earlier today (Tuesday, March 14).
It was reported that the ceiling piece, measuring 200×100 square feet had fallen down at around 10.45 in the morning. A total of 20 firemen and 3 fire engines (each from Shah Alam, Sungai Pinang and Kota Raja fire stations) were deployed hurriedly to the scene. 5 ambulances were also rushed to the site and a medical base was on standby to treat those that were severely injured.
Thankfully, all the 62 victims were safely evacuated and firemen cleaned up the mess to rule out the possibility of more people caught in it. Tracking dogs were also seen on the site.
Officials and related parties are still investigating the cause of the incident.
