Pakatan Harapan Youth wing launches manifesto to aid youths to overcome high cost of living, corruption and unemployment issues
PETALING JAYA: Though PAS may have been a heavyweight in the opposition bloc in the past, Pakatan Harapan Youth today reiterated that it was no longer a concern now since the Islamic party has decided to sever all ties with the opposition front.

DAPSY National Organising secretary Howard Lee Chuan How said that the machinery of DAP, PKR and Amanah were ready to face GE14 without PAS.

“From what we saw in Umno’s 71 anniversary last night, the allegiance and the clarity of a certain party’s alignment is now clear.

“With or without PAS, it is not that relevant. Our machinery is ready to face the elections without fear,” he confidently said.

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Armada (Youth) chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman meanwhile said that PPBM has recruited more than 100,000 members and half of them were youth.

“Fifty percent are below 35 years old, and the unity between us and component parties remain strong. It is time that our machinery prove to the nation that we are able to take over Putrajaya,” he said.

Syed Saddiq and Lee were speaking in a press conference at the PPBM headquarters where the Pakatan Harapan Youth launched their manifesto to aid the youth in conjunction to Malaysian Youth Day 2017.

The manifesto focuses on overcoming issues including high cost of living, corruption and unemployment due to a surplus of foreign workers.

This manifesto will be brought up to Pakatan Harapan top leadership council to be included in the coalition’s main manifesto.

“We will ensure that during the first term of Pakatan Harapan’s takeover, we will create one million job opportunities, reduce foreign workers from six million to 2.5 million and overcome bribery as well as abuse of power,” Syed Saddiq said.

Amanah Youth deputy chief Muhammad Faiz Fadzil said that in comparison to the manifesto of Youth and Sports Ministry’s National Transformation (TN50), their manifesto was not mere rhetoric.

“TN50 is rhetoric, candies for the youth. We on the other hand are looking at the future built on the ground that are free from corruption, waste and abuse of power,” he said.

Unity flashmob on May 13

Meanwhile, Syed Saddiq also announced that he will be conducting a mini tour around Kuala Lumpur in areas significant to the May 13 dark tragedy along with friend Chong Hock Soon to give impromptu speech on unity.

He said that they both will be walking side by side wearing their respective traditional outfit with placards saying ‘#SayaAnakMalaysia.

He said the time and location could not be exposed to the media as it may lead to the plan being sabotaged by the authorities.

“We will spontaneously give speeches on unity without any political statements. At the end of it all, we will pass the audience a letter of unity for them to read on their own,” he said.
