The General Elections is surely around the corner and the circus is coming to town.

It is amusing to see and hear that the next General Elections(GE14) is very near from the antics of the Barisan Nasional leaders. Of late we hear all kinds of statements and slogans by BN leaders saying how much they care for the Rakyat. The amazing thing is that this happens every five years only and unfortunately after the GE the care and understanding vanishes and it is back to business for the BN leaders. The sad part is the people too fall victim every five years, quite mechanically, knowing very well that that BN leaders do not mean what they say. The trend however is changing where for the first time in 2013 GE the opposition garnered about 51% of the popular votes but due to gerrymandering the BN still won a simple majority to form the government.

Just a few days ago one UMNO BN leader said he is a friend to all Malaysians including Chinese and Indians. He said he is colour blind and in a function he announced RM3 million for an Indian NGO. He claim to have many Chinese and Indian close friends and he treats all Malaysians equally. When I read that I almost fell off my chair. Here is a BN leader who is known for his narrow parochial views concentrating mainly on his race but is now suddenly caring towards the Chinese and Indians. The only reason I can think of is because his Parliamentary constituency has a large number of Chinese and Indian voters and that the GE is around the corner. Nobody in BN really cares about whether you are a

Malay, Chinese or Indian. The only thing they care is power and money. BN must stay in power at all cost and will use race and religion to either woo their own kind or threaten those who are not their own kind.

An agent provocateur may be a police officer or a secret agent of police who encourages suspects to carry out a crime under conditions where evidence can be obtained; or who suggests the commission of a crime to another, in hopes they will go along with the suggestion and be convicted of the crime.

A political organization or government may use agents provocateurs against political opponents. The provocateurs try to incite the opponent to do counterproductive or ineffective acts to foster public disdain or provide a pretext for aggression against the opponent.

Historically, labor spies, hired to infiltrate, monitor, disrupt, or subvert union activities, have used agent provocateur tactics.

Agent provocateur activities raise ethical and legal issues. In common law jurisdictions, the legal concept of entrapment may apply if the main impetus for the crime was the provocateur.

The Prime Minister is announcing program after program for the Rakyat and lately even Insurance policies for the private sector workers. Meanwhile the MIC is smitten with the Malaysian Indian Blueprint and is boasting of its so called achievements. Suddenly the MIC is so concerned about stateless Indians that it has started the MyDafter program. Sure they will register some some people for blue IC and announce the successful Indians just before the GE14 but after that the whole issue will be forgotten. This has been happening for many years otherwise how do you account for the 25,000 ( figure according to the Malaysian Indian Blueprint) stateless Indians still without blue IC. This figure of 25,000 is a conservative figure and the actual number is much much more.

Meanwhile the PPP leader is busy carrying babies in Cameron Highlands showing the people there how loving and caring he is to the people of Cameron Highlands. Where did this care and love for the people of Cameron Highlands suddenly come from? Of course it is because of GE14 but how thick skin can you get. Fortunately the people of Cameron Highlands are not easily swayed by this artificial love and affection.

The MCA is busy defending Chinese rights. The focus for MCA seem to be Penang where on a daily basis some negative report is published in the Star newspaper about Penang. Highlights are robberies, drug problems, hawker woes and the problems faced by the people in Penang are endless. According to news reports the people in Penang are an unhappy lot. But go to Penang and ask the man on the street and you will get a completely different picture. The Star newspaper is MCA`s mouthpiece and its avowed mission is to destroy the DAP and the opposition especially in Penang. So when you continuously report negatively, it has a lasting negative impression on the reading public and so they believe. Actually parties like MCA, Gerakan and MIC are living in the past playing the same old tune much to the dislike of the Malaysian public.

So Malaysians now will have to put up with more and more hypocrisy, insults and hocus pocus from BN leaders who are wooing the Malaysian public to get their votes for the coming GE14. As the time draws nearer it is going to be more challenging for us as sometimes the antics by the BN leaders are like those of the circus clowns.

More projects are going to be announced on a daily basis. Roads that does not need to be tarred are going to be tarred. They are also going to tar the road behind your house. There will be gotong royong exercises and the BN leaders will be washing plates, frying Char Koay Teow and spinning Roti Chanai. They will also be carrying and cuddling babies in functions and will ask if the baby is taking its feeds regularly! Old folks beware as these shameless BN leaders will take a sudden interest in your welfare. Single mothers will get undivided attention. They will dance with the Dayaks, Ibans, kadazans and the Orang Aslis. Even your family members would not have taken such interest and care for you about your well being. This is BN for you.

MIC President Subramanian has given up on Malaysian Indian votes because the Malaysian Indian voters have shown the middle finger to MIC and BN and now campaigning for Malay votes. Malaysian Chinese think Subramanian and MIC long dead already.

There will be large movement of hampers, rice bags and goodie bags as if Malaysians could not have survived without these hampers and goodie bags. All of a sudden there will be football tounaments and Karaoke contests where even the losers will get prizes since the BN leaders will be in a magnanimous and benevolent mood. It is the time of the year where BN leaders will put the Rakyat above self and their sole purpose in life at this very crucial period is only you the Rakyat and your welfare that matters. They will even forget about their families and their families too will forget about them. Such is the conviction towards the rakyat.

However the party is only for a short while from now maybe up to latest May next year. As the GE14 date draws near the partying will intensify. There will be an endless pipeline of money and cash flowing from the capital to all corners and nooks of the country. Many mega projects will be announced. Schools will be painted and places of worship will get sudden windfalls as the BN leaders will even buy out the Gods just to win the elections and remain in power.

After the GE14, there will be a lull after the storm. The party will be over and the Rakyat will have to go back to work to earn a living. The hampers, rice and goodie bags will be finished. The people will have to continue to put up with the ever increasing cost of living, GST and and the BN leaders will have to start recouping all the money they have to spent for the elections. For the next four years it will be a continuous and consistent struggle for the people to make ends meet. Meanwhile the BN leaders will suddenly become too busy to even care for the Rakyat. The same cycle repeats and this has been repeating for the past sixty years.

It is up to the people to change. In order to see changes they must change the government first. In most countries the people have opted for change for the better. Why should Malaysia be any different? There is no such thing that only BN can govern the country. For the sake of our future generations the people must bring about changes before our beloved country becomes a rogue nation. The power is in our hands. If we chose to not do anything then the rot will continue and generations to come our children will have to bear the consequences and we will be responsible for that.

So let us all be colour blind instead and focus on being Malaysian with a fair outlook beyond race and religion and save this country. When the BN leader says he is colour blind he is completely dishonest. He is cheating us by sweet talking. Let us not fall into the BN trap that we have been falling into every five years. Let us stop the circus from coming into town.
