Not enough CEX? Stop moaning. Come to Ipoh for an orgy. Feast your eyes and your senses

Not enough CEX? Stop moaning. Come to Ipoh for an orgy. Feast your eyes and your senses

For as long as I can remember, many Ipohites have grumbled about the lack of literary activities in their hometown, and moan that they have to go to either Kuala Lumpur or Singapore to satisfy their literary, art, drama, film, poetry and other cultural cravings.

Worry no more! Sharpened Word (SW) is aware of your concerns. They acknowledge the need to recognise and showcase local talent, to the whole world, not just to Perakians.

The weekend of the 24 to the 27 August promises to be an exciting one for culture and also for the literary arts in Ipoh. Sharpened Word (SW) is proud to announce that it will be co-hosting an event with the CausewayEXchange Singapore (CEX).

CEX is a joint arts and culture initiative between Singapore and Malaysia that aims to serve as the premiere exchange platform between the arts and creative communities of Singapore and Malaysia.

The SW-CEX event, is called “Same Same but Different” in which writers/poets from both Singapore and Malaysia will share the stage for a literary discussion.

The event will be held on Saturday 26th August , from 2 – 4 pm, at 22 Hale Street Heritage Gallery, Ipoh Old Town. Admission for this event is free.

The Malaysian delegation will comprise three Perak based writer/poets – Bridgett Eu, Wani Ardy and Paul Gnana Selvam. The Singaporean poets are Yong Shu Hoong and Sim Piak How.

They will engage in a friendly banter and discuss the similarities and differences between the Singaporean and Malaysian literary and linguistic landscapes; Is Manglish really that different from Singlish? Do both literature contain the same themes and motifs?

Details are in the posters which accompany this post. For more information, please contact the organisers on the Sharpened Word (SW) facebook page.
OTHER EXCITING EVENTS IN THIS ORGY OF THE ARTS.
There are other exciting events, and not just the “Same Same but Different” dialogue, for the weekend of 24 – 27 August.
Please see the posters for the exciting range of films and plays.

Do not miss the cultural and literary arts festival brought to you.
No excuses for claiming that Ipoh is boring.

Bila lagi mau enjoy? Brought to your doorstep.
ENJOY!!!
