OVERSOLD: OIL TRADERS PUNISH OPEC FOR PROMISING TOO MUCH

VIENNA – As Opec’s latest meeting wrapped up in Vienna on Thursday night, ministers congratulated each other on its rare spirit of amity and consensus. The talks were, without a doubt, a success.

But two hours later, one veteran delegate was staring in despair at the numbers flashing red on his smartphone showing crude down some 5% to US$51 a barrel.

“That is a disaster,” he said.

While Opec has worked hard in recent years on improving communication to ensure the right message is delivered to financial markets, Thursday’s experience showed the 14-member group and its non-Opec allies still have a long way to go.

The problem was not what was delivered, but what appeared to have been promised beforehand, industry analysts said.

Opec agreed on Thursday to extend its existing production cuts by nine months – more than the initially suggested six months – in tandem with non-Opec producers, including Russia.

But hints from the group that it could deepen supply cuts, extend them by as long as 12 months, curtail exports and tell the market how exactly it would terminate supply curbs in 2018 had raised market expectations much higher.

“Opec oversold the meeting to the market way too early,” Amrita Sen, from the consultancy Energy Aspects, told Reuters in Vienna.

The market reaction was all the more disappointing given that from Opec’s perspective, the meeting went very well.

“I have been in Opec close to 20 years. It’s the first time that I witness 100% compliance (with cuts) from Opec and close to 100% from non-Opec,” Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh told Reuters afterward.

Opec’s No.3 producer, Iran has repeatedly clashed in past meetings with Opec’s de-facto leader, its political arch-rival Saudi Arabia.

Russia, which effectively is fighting a proxy war with Saudi Arabia in Syria, said on Thursday its energy cooperation with Riyadh would last well into the future.

In its statement, Opec said it could extend curbs further or cut more.

Normally, all this would be more than enough to trigger a bull rally.

“It’s strange. I don’t know why (the market crashed),” Zanganeh said.

Whatever it takes

Opec and non-Opec oil producers first agreed to cut output in December 2016 – the first joint deal in 15 years – and said the curbs could be extended by a further six months.

The extraordinary move was aimed at battling a global glut of crude that halved prices from 2014, forcing Russia and Saudi Arabia to tighten their belts and leading to unrest in Venezuela and Nigeria.

The cuts helped push oil prices back above US$50 per barrel but also spurred growth in the US shale industry, which does not participate in the output deal. That slowed a rebalancing of supply and demand, with global inventories still near record highs.

As the price fell back towards US$47 in early May, near a six-month low, Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih said Opec would do “whatever it takes” to rebalance the market, including a longer extension for the output cuts.

“If you declare nine months in advance, people are bound to expect more,” Sen said. Russia also added to the expectations by saying this week that cuts could be prolonged by 12 months.

The market was also disappointed Opec did not mention its previously stated plan to bring stocks down from a record high of 3 billion barrels to their five-year average of 2.7 billion, said Olivier Jakob from the Petromatrix consultancy.

“The December meeting was a breakthrough,” he said. “The meeting yesterday gives us, however, a feeling that Opec is fatigued by the lack of results so far and does not have a consensus anymore to have the five-year average in stocks as a policy target.”

The fact that Iran, Libya and Nigeria remain exempt from cuts suggested Opec was not yet ready to take additional measures, Jakob added.

Dave Pursell, managing director at Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co, a Houston-based bank working with US shale producers, predicted markets would rebalance within six months.

“The market was hoping for deeper cuts,” he said. “But I do think oil prices, three months from now, will be higher than they are now.”

Saudi Arabia To Trim Oil Exports To US To Force Inventories Lower

By Zainab Calcuttawala - May 26, 2017, 5:00 PM CDT

Riyadh plans to purposely reduce exports to the United States to force a reduction in the latter’s sizeable inventories, which are preventing a greater rise in global oil prices, according to Saudi Oil Minister Khalid Al-Falih.

Just one day after OPEC announced a nine-month extension to its November production cut deal, the top oil official told reporters on Friday that “exports to the U.S. will drop measurably.” Two sources close to the matter told Bloomberg that starting next month, Saudi crude supplies to American importers will be reduced to below one million barrels a day next month – a 15 percent decrease from the monthly average so far in 2017.

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries’ (OPEC) deal does not set limits on the amount any member country can export to its customers. This is why Saudi cargoes to the U.S. in recent months have totaled 1.21 million barrels a day – the highest rates since 2014, the year of the oil price crash. As the de facto leader and largest producer of OPEC, Saudi Arabia has cut its production the most of any member of the bloc. But stubbornly high fossil fuel inventories - which have been maintained worldwide, but are most readily measured in the U.S. due to open customs data – have prevented the measures from buttressing oil prices in a lasting way. Importer nations have opted to take advantage of low oil prices to stock up for the future.

The Energy Information Administration reports that American crude inventories have been on a downward trajectory in recent weeks, so the lower shipments may have a magnified impact as they are doled out.

Bloomberg also noted that Saudi Arabia generally has less oil to supply to the U.S. in summer months due to amplified domestic demand for cooling needs during the scorching desert summer.

OIL PRICE CRASHES DESPITE DEAL TO EXTEND OUTPUT CUT

The price of oil has plummeted by about 5%, despite oil-producing nations agreeing to extend production cuts for a further nine months.

Meeting in Vienna, energy ministers from both Opec and non-Opec countries agreed to maintain output curbs, due to expire next month, until March 2018.

But investors had been hoping the oil producers would go further.

Brent crude is $2.60 lower at $51.36 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate is down $2.58 at $48.78 a barrel.

Saudi Arabia’s energy minister, Khaled al-Falih, who co-chaired the meeting with his Russian counterpart Alexander Novak, said: “We considered various scenarios from six to nine to 12 months and we even considered options for higher cuts.

“All indications are solid that a nine-month extension is the optimum, and should bring us to within the five-year average of inventories by the end of the year.”

Opec countries and 11 other oil-producing nations, including Russia, first agreed to reduce production last December in an effort to boost flagging prices.

The reduction was almost 1.8 million barrels per day – equivalent to about 2% of global oil production.

Analysts criticised Opec’s failure to make deeper cuts to production.

Chris Beauchamp at online trading firm IG, described Mr Falih’s belief that greater reductions were not needed as “quaint”, while Alexandre Andlauer of equity research firm Alphavalue said Opec’s strategy was “old-fashioned”.

Neil Wilson at ETX Capital said Opec members “bottled it”, adding: “A nine-month extension just isn’t enough to really lift oil prices as we’ll continue to see US shale fill the gap. Having said they’d do whatever it takes, Opec is looking a bit toothless now.

“Faced with kind of glut and the scale of the market, the cartel would be better off cutting a lot deeper but for less time than trying to prolong fairly timid cuts.”

Gary Ross, head of global oil at PIRA Energy, part of S&P Global Platts, said: “Russia has an upcoming election and Saudis have the Aramco share listing next year, so they will indeed do whatever it takes to support oil prices.”
Analysis: Andrew Walker, BBC economics correspondent
Investors in the financial markets weren’t much impressed by this agreement. The price of crude oil has fallen.

The Vienna deal was perhaps the minimum they expected, after reports of widespread support among the countries concerned for a nine-month extension.

Some thought the production cuts might be deepened and were disappointed when the group simply extended the existing ceiling.

In any event Opec and the other countries involved have a problem with the American shale oil industry.

Cutting production creates a space in the market that shale producers can step into and higher prices make them more profitable. They will be the unintended beneficiaries of the Vienna agreement, even if it does succeed in the group’s objective of getting commercial stocks of crude oil down.

There is quite an irony in that. After all the rise of US shale is one of the central reasons Opec, Russia and the other countries had a problem to start with.

[VIDEO] “The one that will ruin the Chinese in Malaysia is DAP” Claims UMNO Information Chief After Saying How Much They Love The Chinese

BythemixbloodPosted on May 27, 2017

Wow! What a statement!

Malay Mail Online seemed to have shared an interesting piece just yesterday, claiming that the Malays in UMNO nationalist party loves Malaysia’s Chinese minority the most.

Why am I having a hard time digesting this? Just take a look at the video below:

It also seems that all this while, Chinese Malaysians were allowed to practise their own culture here, was because of UMNO’s blessings. Not sure what sort of blessings is he trying to point out but he vaguely said that Chinese names, Chinese culture, Chinese schools are all given the UMNO’s blessings.

The UMNO information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa also managed to condemn the DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang as an alleged racist.

Annuar also mentioned that the ethnic Chinese here have more freedom compared to the Chinese in Indonesia and Thailand. Oh and of course, he brought up the matter about how Chinese people still ‘dominate the economy’ and the Malays does not mind or feel jealous or angry about it.

Isn’t this like super contradicting??!! Especially since there were so many ‘loud’ announcements of giving back the Malays their rights and whatsoever.

I wonder who is trying to pull whose legs?

And once again the Keterah MP pulled in DAP saying that if ever DAP were to take over, the existing stability and social structure would be greatly affected and the first to suffer will be the Chinese, themselves.

Oh! And before I forget to mention, he was also reported saying that UMNO must change public perception that the party practices racism and told its members to stop saying things that could hurt the feelings of non-Malays and not belittle the other Barisan Nasional coalition members like MCA and MIC. <<< This pretty much backs up my point earlier. CONTRADICTION!

[NSFW] Netizens Found Pornographic Contents On Youtube With Specific Keywords In Ireland Language!

Recently, there are netizens sharing a secret trick for Youtube user to search for pornographic contents with some specific key words in Ireland language.

As we all know, Youtube is restricting users on uploading and searching sensitive contents such as pornographic or violence contents. There are even a specific restricted mode setting for users to avoid inappropriate contents on Youtube.

However, the restriction rules still could not stop the users to upload and search for the inappropriate contents. They found their by captioning the videos with Ireland language where it is less familiar by the users.

According to the foreign media, an Ireland reporter accidentally found a lot of pornographic content videos on Youtube which all are captioning with Ireland language. It probably sets to avoid Youtube filtering system and successfully upload to the website. For example, you can easily search for the pornographic contents by entering the key word of scannáin. The search results on Youtube will show a series of pornographic contents, there are even adults video of different countries has been shared on Youtube.

According to Youtube’s user rules and regulations, the filtering system would automatically delete the inappropriate contents which related to violence or pornographic topics. However, by searching the word of scannáin, which it simply meant for movie or video clips, has “escaped” from the restricted filtering system on Youtube.

After the reveal of hidden trick for searching inappropriate content with Ireland language words, Youtube has enforced their filtering system and removed all the related contents which captioning with the word of scannáin.

It seems like Youtube has won the battle huh! BUT…. Wait! There are still some hidden key words to search for the “interesting” videos. The foreign reporter was then tried another keywords of “How to shave your vagina”, it has shown a series of videos showing how models shaved their vagina correctly in naked body.

The news has gained the attention of netizens to find out more keywords for their interest. So now, the next application you are going to click in is Youtube right? *evil face*

Malaysian Man Gathers Public’s Help For A Poverty-Stricken Family

Truly shocking images were posted by Xu Jun Hao on May 25 which broke many netizens’ hearts. It was devastating to see how a bubbly young kid living in such stripped down conditions.

And here we are complaining about the air conditioning not working or our meal isn’t as delicious as what have others said. Even I too, fall guilty in this department.

How did Xu even got to know about this boy? Well, it seems that they had become friends over a meal.

But it was definitely a wake-up call after seeing this boy’s poverty-stricken family. According to Xu’s post, it is even hard for the boy to have a proper 3-meal every day and he finally understood why the boy was hungry.

His house kitchen didn’t even have gas and the gas stove wasn’t functioning anymore.

It also appears that his dad is a Malaysian but doesn’t have enough funds to make an IC, which also means that the young boy also doesn’t own a MyKad. The poor 13-year-old kid also has not even stepped foot into a school due to his family’s financial struggle.

On top of already lacking with funds to run the family, the father also seems to have owed someone RM300. We certainly would love to urge the public to help out in any form that they can for this family’s well-being.

Currently, Xu doesn’t urge anyone to start donating yet as the father doesn’t own a bank account, however, a sufficient supply of daily necessities would be a great start to get this family back on their feet.

Ever since the post went up, it has already been shared over 6,200 times and many netizens had showered their support in many forms, through prayers, donation of supplies and even furniture.

Xu also mentions that before he can start filling up the little warrior’s house, they will be helping them to clean up their home first. For those who also wish to help this kid and his family out, please do contact Xu Jun Hao.

‘MALAY FAMILY OF 5 EATING WHITE RICE & SHARING 2 PIECES OF CHICKEN’? TIME RUNS OUT ON NAJIB – UMNO WILL BE KICKED OUT BY DR M’S GRAND COALITION AFTER OCTOBER BUDGET IS TABLED

For those of you who do not know him, Mr Koon Yew Yin is Malaysia’s version of Warren Buffet.

Warren Buffet was once the richest man in the US. He is still among the Top 3 beside Bill Gates and one more. Warren Buffet is a savvy stock market investor in the US.

Koon Yew Yin is also a very successful stock market investor with a networth that runs into the hundreds of millions of Ringgit (or more).

I saw him in person yesterday at an event at Hotel Istana. Despite being a multi-millionaire (if not a billionaire) Mr Koon arrived by LRT.

Mr Koon also writes a blog and makes very frank and honest comments about things.

Today he has written about the Barisan Nasional’s imminent demise at the next general elections.

Opposition Grand Coalition Can KO Barisan

According to news report on the celebration of UMNO’s 71 anniversary, Prime Minister Najib has teased the UMNO supporters by asking if he should dissolve Parliament as early as the next day.

Well, some observers see it as a sign that he is very confident of a victory and that he may call for an election soon.

However, there are two sayings which he needs to be reminded.

One is the old saying – “Pride goes before a fall”

The other is a quote attributed to Harold Washington, the first African-American elected as Mayor of Chicago. “Let’s not be overconfident, we still have to count the votes.”

BN sponsored analysts who dominate the official media have been saying that BN has more than the required number of votes to win the next election by a comfortable margin. In fact, some are so confident that they are assuring BN of a more than two thirds majority. Because these analysts are tied to the BN money machine, this message of a big BN victory will be drummed into our heads for the next few months.

But is this big BN victory a sure thing?

Going by my knowledge of politics in Ipoh and Perak, I wish to differ.

Tide Turning Against BN

In Perak, most voters have not forgotten that power was stolen from Pakatan by the BN through unconstitutional means by Najib with the assistance of the present MB Zambry.

In the next election, many voters will want to correct the injustice and vote for the opposition.

Included in this group will be most of the civil servants as well as Felda settlers who have been regarded as UMNO’s and BN’s vote banks.

To some extent these voters have also been PAS’s vote banks.

But will the Malay civil servants and Felda settlers continue to allow themselves to be swayed by racial and religious politics; and vote with their hearts rather than with their heads in the next election.

Or will they realize that both UMNO and PAS have let them down badly and are not worth the support that the two parties have been provided with during the past 50 years and more.

Today, everyone except for the elite are suffering from a socio-economic crisis arising from the mismanagement of the economy and pervasive corruption. Food is more expensive, transport prices have soared, education costs have escalated.

According to Ceupacs President, Azih Muda, civil servants have ended up heavily in debt to manage rising living costs, to the point that more than 60,000 of them risk bankruptcy.
“This is a direct effect of the hike in cost of living. Civil servants end up taking up a lot of loans and this is unsustainable and they are unable to manage their finances,” Azih told the foreign news agency Reuters.

Of course, this report was not carried in the mainstream Malay media. Neither have been the numerous reports on the financial mess that UMNO leaders have inflicted on Feilda settlers through the launch of Felda Global Ventures Berhad.

The plight of civil servants and Felda settlers was totally ignored by UMNO during its lavish anniversary celebrations.

Correction: it was not ignored because UMNO dished out freebies such as sweets, candies, biscuits, and Gardenia sponge cakes. Big show but pathetic deal which has gone viral.

I am sure the opposition parties will be using the images of these UMNO freebies in contrast to the 1MDB and other goodies spread the Prime Minister to show around the kampungs when election time comes around.

This publicity stunt by UMNO that it is taking care of Malay welfare is so brainless that I am surprised that it was agreed to by Najib and his team. But then at the same time I am not surprised. It shows the level of disrespect and contempt that UMNO’s leadership has for its grassroots.

Throw them a few goodies and they will be satisfied seems to be the UMNO message.

This time though I am sure the revolt of the Malay masses will take place. And when this revolt led by the civil servants and Felda settlers happens at the polling booth, a new page in our nation’s history will be reached.

Battle for Change Led by Dr. Mahathir

Fittingly, the battle for change will be led by Dr. Mahathir. Several weeks ago, I attended a Parti Pribumi Bersatu meeting at Padang Rengas, Kuala Kangsar where I took the opportunity to renew my friendship with him and gave him a copy of my book,” Road Map for Achieving Vision 2020” which was partly inspired by Dr. Mahathir’s vision for our nation’s future. Dr Mahathir was my business partner before he became the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the function organised by Parti Satu, mostly ex-UMNO members, attended the function.

It is not only the Malay masses who will push for change. Today we have a new opposition coalition which will operate as a single entity against Barisan Nasional. Featuring PPBM, DAP, PKR and Parti Amanah Negara as its component members, the opposition coalition will also include East Malaysian parties. This is an unprecedented grand coalition of Malaysian anti-BN voters which in my opinion can bring about the biggest upset in our political history once it gets its act together.

In the last GE, the opposition secured more than 51 percent of the total votes, but in terms of state and parliamentary seats, the opposition had less than BN because of the gerrymandering.

Although the gerrymandering will continue during the next elections, the significant difference is that Dr. Mahathir’s new party under Tan Sri Muhyiddin will be competing for Malay votes in the small towns and villages.

I believe too that PAS is deeply divided under President Hadi Awang, who is presently very sick and unable to exert much influence. Once it becomes clear that the new grand opposition coalition will win, I expect many Pas leaders and voters to join the opposition and leave BN, the sinking boat.

My comments : When will the elections be held? Its all about making people feel good.

There will be a hype up over Bulan Puasa from May 27 till about June 26th.

The Civil Servants will be treated to makan tak habis type ‘gomen sponsored’ Buka Puasa. Make them feel ‘kenyang’.

The stock market may see a Ramadhan Rally – to make the Chinese happy as well. There are few or no more Malay investors (“punters”) in the Stock Market.

There will be a big boost up over Hari Raya (June 26th). Possibly PLUS will be told to give huge Toll Discounts over the Hari Raya holidays. (Of course they can claim it back from the gomen).

Throughout July, after Hari Raya, there will be one month of Syawal Open Houses (from June 26 till July 25th) to make the Civil Servants happy. This year will see an overflow of feasting in the Month of Syawal at Minister’s and Ministry ‘open houses’.

Come August, there will be more “feel good” for the 60th Merdeka Celebrations. It will be one month of flag waving, chest thumping and butt kissing.

The SEA Games will also be held around this time (19th – 20th August). More opportunities to pump up the “feel good”.

The “feel good” will peak at the Budget 2018 which will be tabled in October. Many goodies will be given out, taxes cut, taxes and duties on cars will be cut (since Proton has been sold to Geely) causing a significant drop in car prices (thank you in advance).

Since “feel good” is very expensive and the “feel good” can disappear very quickly without money, they will likely dissolve Parliament just after the October Budget.

Time is not on their side. As more time passes, things are getting worse for the Malays. The Elders talked about seeing a Malay family of five eating white rice and sharing two pieces of chicken.

Mr Koon Yew Yin is correct. They will be kicked out.

Product of NEP when a dumb gets in a University because of his race and becomes a terrorist WOW

WOW, NOW FAMOUS! MALAYS MUST ‘THANK’ UMNO & PAS FOR THEIR RACIAL & RELIGIOUS BIGOTRY: EX UM LECTURER SLATED TO TAKE OVER AS TERROR CHIEF OF IS, PHILIPPINES

KOTA KINABALU: Malaysian lecturer-turned-militant Dr Mahmud Ahmad could soon be the leader of the Islamic State’s (IS) offshoot in the southern Philippines Marawi City.

He is believed to be holed up in the city where the army is battling the Maute group, which has seen 44 people, including two Malaysians, killed.

Dr Mahmud has been identified as the next man to create a bastion of IS in South-East Asia, now under the command of Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon.

Isnilon was declared as the Emir of the IS forces in the Philippines early last year but he was reportedly badly injured in an aerial attack on Basilan about two months ago.

Dr Mahmud led fellow militants to rescue Isnilon in the Marawi attack, said sources, adding that they believe he is also trying to fill the vacuum in leadership of the caliphate if Isnilon is confirmed dead.
They said IS caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is desperately trying to find a new leader in the South-East Asia faction that was once headed by Muhammad Wanndy Mohamed Jedi, who was killed in a drone attack in Raqqa, Syria.

The sources said Dr Mahmud, also known as Abu Handzalah, is now the only trusted lieutenant linked to Baghdadi besides the injured Isnilon in southern Philippines.

They said there were number of foreigners – Malaysians, Singaporeans and Indonesians – in the Maute group comprising mostly Filipino Christians who converted to Islam.

Intelligence sources said Dr Mahmud’s plan was to form an official IS faction in South-East Asia by uniting different terror cells in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

According to the sources, they could not estimate the number of Malaysians in the area but believe many foreigners are with the militant groups, including Abu Sayyaf in Mindanao and Basilan.

Philippines officials have yet to disclose the names of the militants killed in Marawi City where intense battles are continuing with the Philippines military trying to recapture parts of the city held by the militants since Tuesday.

The sources had identified the two dead Malaysians as Ustaz Abdurahman Asmawi from Kelantan and Dr Kamsa Yahya from Kedah. It could not be immediately established if the two were involved with the militant group or were visiting the city.

Among others killed were an Indonesian and a Saudi Arabian, the sources said, adding that nine were Filipinos.

Dr Mahmud, who trained at an Al-Qaeda camp in Afghanistan under Osama bin Laden while studying at Pakistan’s Islamabad Islamic University in the late 1990s, had returned to Malaysia to lecture at Universiti Malaya.

After being exposed as an extremist militant by Bukit Aman in 2014, he fled to the Philippines. He was identified as the terror group’s chief recruiter and was responsible for training and sending militants to fight in Syria and Iraq.

Dr Mahmud was among five Malaysians who fled the country. The others were Dr Mahmud’s close aide Mohd Najib Husen (who has been killed in the Philippines), Selayang Municipal Council employee Muhammad Joraimee Awang Raimee and Darul Islam Sabah members Mohd Amin Baco and Jeknal Adil.

They have worked with other militant groups including Abu Sayyaf in various attacks and criminal activities in southern Philippines.

Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division head Deputy Comm Datuk Ayob Khan said Dr Mahmud was known to be embedded with the Abu Sayyaf group.

“However, we are still trying to gather enough intelligence to uncover Malaysian militants involved over there (Mindanao),” he said yesterday.

On the possibility that Dr Mahmud might become the leader of the IS cell in southern Philippines, DCP Ayob said he suspected that was Dr Mahmud’s ultimate goal.
