Dramatic moment former England striker James Beattie rushes to rescue two children from a tiny yacht that was stranded and in danger of being crushed by a ferry

Former England striker James Beattie (inset with wife Sarah) helped rescue two young children (pictured left and right) after the yacht they were sailing on collided with a chain ferry in Poole, Dorset, prompting fears it would sink. The former Everton and Southampton striker leapt over a security barrier to come to the family's aid and was joined by a crowd of onlookers who carried the crying children to safety. Once the youngsters were on dry land, Beattie and the crowd helped the mother off the yacht, which was then towed away from the ferry by a passing boat.
