Labour leader claims he can beat the system to win election despite trailing May by 24 points - but he barely mentions Brexit
Jeremy Corbyn has used his first campaign rally to slam the 'wealthy elite' and insist he can beat the system to win. Despite starting the surprise race more than 20 points off the pace, Mr Corbyn claimed his radical policies can change the face of the election. The Labour leader promised his government would fix the 'rigged' economy that he will claim is exploited by tycoons like Sir Philip Green and Mike Ashley today. His first major speech of the campaign, in London, claimed that Labour will fight on behalf of Britain's 'true wealth creators', promising that ordinary people will win alongside him. Mr Corbyn barely mentioned Brexit in his stump speech and dodged questions on whether Labour would back a second referendum on the final deal.
