As reported by The Star, the group was navigating dense forest area when they were struck by the falling tree and branches, killing Noorain Mohtar, 23 and Muhamad Kamil Md Sukri, 22.
District police chief Supt Mohamad Mansor Mohd Nor said the department was alerted about the accident around 4.30am, and policemen were immediately deployed to the scene.
Five victims – Abdul Muaz Abdul Razak, 22, Mohd Ammar Affandi Ahmad Subki, 20, Nur Farrah Izzatul Md Fauzi, 20, Farah Hanisah Hamdan Fadel, 22, and Ainin Sofea Abd Shukor, 21, were sent to the Betong Hospital.

It was learned that they had been at the Lata Carok waterfall for a survival activity since 11.30 pm on Friday and were supposed to descend at 5 am Saturday.
