Parents decided to take action after the school failed to do so despite being told of the incident. So far six pupils have come forward to give statements claiming they were molested by the teacher at the religious primary school since 2014.
ACP Othman said in the statement,
“All of the complainants lodged police reports as there was no action taken by the school although the matter had been reported a week earlier to the school.”
He said all the victims, who were aged between 11 and 12 at the time had not come forward earlier as they were ashamed and were afraid of the teacher.
A 12-year-old student was reported to have told his father on Wednesday, that the teacher had touched his penis while he was reading. The boy’s father lodged a police report on the incident which his son claimed happened in April.
Five other students came forward after that with similar claims of having been molested by the same teacher since 2014.
The 29-year-old teacher has been detained and will be remanded until Monday. The case is being investigated under Section 354/377D of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force with intent to outrage a person’s modesty.
