Kuala Lumpur – During the tabling of 2016 Budget, RM50m was allocated to MCA for Chinese schools and RM50m to MIC for Tamil schools.

On 23-12-2016, The Sun daily published that “Budget for Chinese schools already given”. Finance Minister II, Datuk (now Datuk Seri) Johari Abdul Ghani as reported by Chin Siew Daily gave assurance that RM50m will be distributed to Chinese schools. Deputy Education Minister, Datuk Chong Sin Woon then said that MCA is firm and would not accept any amount less than the promised RM50m for the Chinese schools.

Chin Siew also reported that MIC has agreed to accept only RM16.5m for Tamil schools.

Who consented to accept only RM16.5m? The burden is now on MIC President, MIC CWC members and Deputy Education Minister, Datuk P. Kamalanathan to clarify this matter.

If MCA can fight for their rights and obtain the full government allocation, why MIC compromised and only took RM16.5m? The RM50m is vital in re-engineering the 524 Tamil schools in this country.

Where is the balance RM33.5m? Why this details had not been made public?

Will Datuk Kamalanathan issue a statement to explain this matter too?
