BATA KLCC Just Sparked Fire Amongst Customers And Netizens For Their Racist Promotion Ad!!!

Why make a Fuss in words only, BATA is not going to notice. Make a fuss with your wallet and boycott all Footwear made by Bata and they will come running on 4 legs with their tail between their hind legs and apologize just like Unite Airlines did. Demand that they donate School shoes to every school going kids in the estates irrespective of race for a year. This will teach them not to be racist

BATA KLCC Just Sparked Fire Amongst Customers And Netizens For Their Racist Promotion Ad!!!

Update:
So after a little digging here’s the real Story behind this. It’s written on their website about BATA story. Created for school children in India in 1936 “Originally created for Indian school children, the pinstriped sneaker with the distinctive rubber toe guard became one of the best-selling shoes of all time – and is still sold around the world.”
Damn! If this was what they were aiming for, they should really consider re-hiring their creative director! They should have come up with “Shoes for Indian school children…where it all begin” or something like that! Very poor choice of words I would say.
This was what Sanjay proposed the ad to be like:

Wow! Absolutely didn’t see this coming from a brand that is loved by (almost) all Malaysians!
I wonder what was the branding team was thinking? I know that for a fact good exposure or bad exposure it’s still exposure, but you (BATA) didn’t have to go down that low, right?

What does it mean by “Shoes For Indian School Children”, anyways? Does the kid instantly transform to Rajinikanth or something?
The Coverage received this info from a close source whose female friend had visited the BATA outlet in KLCC just recently and noticed this mini promotion ad that was placed on a shelve in the store.

Not sure if there’s such thing as a different kind of shoes that Indian schools need to comply with but wait…let me check…NOPE…sorry can’t find any sort of information that supports this “needed” labelling.
According to the source (Sanjay), he had called up the outlet itself and had a brief conversation with a staff there named Jimmy. Sanjay said that because Jimmy wasn’t fluent in English, he kept on mumbling and chewing on his own words.
He asked the man about the promotion and Jimmy simply kept repeating “This one for India”. Sanjay felt like the staff was being very defensive even though he was asking in a calm voice. Jimmy told our source that he could talk to the HQ if he wanted to know more about the promotion, while clearly stating that he doesn’t have anything to do with it.

Well, most likely he really isn’t related to this matter as it would have been the branding and marketing team’s problem. However, in my point of view, if you know something is amiss with a certain campaign, shouldn’t you at least say something about it?
And when Sanjay asked for the store manager, Jimmy claimed that the person wasn’t around.
Now netizens are just wondering are there shoes for Malay and Chinese kids as well? Sanjay’s post has been growing 1 share per minute since he uploaded the news on his Facebook and filling up his comment box rapidly.

Yamunah Samynathan Rubesh Wait what does it even mean?? Means catered for kids from Indian schools?? Or Indian kids.. Or Indian feet?? Like any of those has any difference
Nithya Punniamoorthy Do they have shoes for Chinese and Malays?
Arvin Sivasundram Why the other children wear slipper ka?
Sara Kanna That’s awkward…
#batamalaysia #bata #shoe #shoeworld they better have a good reason for such sales strategy in the 21 century…
Apple Lonzki This is pure Racist!! MY GOD
