RUU355: Umno’s missed opportunity - No it is good riddance to UMNO and PAS

Below is all water under the bridge now and the secular voters of both side of the divide learned from the UMNO-PAS Tango on RUU355 is that there will not be any peace , racial or religious harmony until these two parties are send into oblivion or buried forever.

RUU355 have brought of the greatest fears of the majority of the voters that having UMNO and PAS, there will be no peace or prosperity for Malaysia and a doom future for the future generations.

Mind is made up and UMNO with her associates and PAS already are tried in a court of public opinion and sentence to history and never to return.

There was no religion in RUU355 or in the political dance of UMNO and PAS but a game of political dominance with satanic proportions

Good Riddance

Two reasons why Umno, and not PAS, should have tabled RUU355
COMMENT
The tabling of a motion which is now known as RUU 355 by Abdul Hadi Awang (Marang-PAS) is a missed opportunity for Umno.
Had the bill been tabled by an Umno MP, there wouldn’t be opposition and objections across the board – from within the ruling coalition and opposition parties.
As it stands, because the bill was PAS-sponsored, MCA, MIC, Gerakan, DAP, Warisan along with Sarawak- and Sabah-based parties stood their ground against the bill which was only meant for Muslims.
However Hadi successfully tabled the motion which was supported by his secretary general Takiyuddin Hassan (Kota Bharu-PAS) who provided justification for the raise in penalties.
The fear against the proposed amendment stems from PAS itself that wants to implement the Islamic penal code, hudud in Kelantan.
PAS even used hudud for by-election campaigns in Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar.
During the Sarawak state polls, Hadi urged for a Muslim leader to be elected. Sarawak had non-Muslim chief ministers in the past.
Their cause for concern is also based on the ruthless action taken by state religious authorities.
The raids in search of couples committing close proximity for instance even landed foreign tourists into trouble in Langkawi some years ago.
There was also the ban over the use of the word ‘Allah’ during which the courts ruled that the word is exclusively for Muslims in Peninsula Malaysia. The ruling however doesn’t effect Christians in Sabah and Sarawak.
The second point is, Umno also lost its chance take the lead from PAS to champion Islam.
There is no doubt that Islamic banking, the establishment of International Islamic University and other Islamic agenda in the nation were due to Umno. These were in the past.
PAS clerics to date have a better hold over the Muslims compared to Umno clerics. Hence Umno would have gained brownie points if it’s lawmakers tabled the private member’s bill.
Had Umno lawmakers tabled the bill, it would have raised Umno’s chances to regain Kelantan, and even do well in other Malay states such Terengganu and Kedah.
Umno also would have effectively ended PAS dominance over Islam by tabling it on their own.
