PAP droppings, says Hadi

The PAS president also defends
cooperation with Umno, saying it does not work with foreign powers unlike DAP.
PETALING JAYA: PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang
has described DAP as “droppings” of PAP, referring to Singapore’s ruling
People’s Action Party.
“PAP rules Singapore. Singapore was once in
Malaysia, there were a lot of PAP branches in Malaysia. When Singapore exited
Malaysia, PAP changed to DAP,” Hadi said in a speech in Rusila, Terengganu.
“So DAP is PAP’s droppings (anak butir tahi
PAP),” he said, but quickly added that the language he used “may be a bit
crude”.
PAS and DAP, once political allies under the
now-defunct Pakatan Rakyat, had been fighting over Hadi’s private member’s bill
to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 (Act 355).
The bill seeks to increase the punishments meted
out by shariah courts in the country to 30 years jail, RM100,000 for fines, and
100 strokes of the cane.
In his speech last night, Hadi also defended his
party’s closer ties with Umno.
“We are only working with Umno (leaders), who
are also Malay Muslims. Is that wrong?” he asked.
He said DAP had also been working with outside
powers.
“They are working with the United States, and
that is okay? (They are) working with foreign countries, discussing Malaysian
politics, that’s okay?
“Malaysian politics, let Malaysians bring
changes. There is no need to invite the US, the foreign countries, here,” he
said.
