Why Umno’s Nusajaya assemblyman
Dr Zaini Abu Bakar giving DAP free advise because he is afraid if DAP field a Malay candidate in the Gelang
Patah constituency in the 14th general election, he will sure lose his Nusajaya
assembly seat also. Takut very takut trying reverse phycology and it does not
work. Hope DAP fields more and more Malay candidates for Parliament and state
seats.
Umno’s Nusajaya
assemblyman Dr Zaini Abu Bakar says even DAP MP Lim Kit Sing has been rejected
by a sizeable portion of the Chinese community
JOHOR
BARU: DAP will be at a disadvantage if it decides to field a Malay candidate in
the Gelang Patah constituency in the 14th general election, said Nusajaya
assemblyman Dr Zaini Abu Bakar.
He said
even DAP’s incumbent MP in Gelang Patah, Lim Kit Siang, and the party were
losing support among the Chinese community in Gelang Patah.
“If the
BN candidate is Chinese, then the advantage will be BN’s,” said Zaini when
contacted by Berita Daily today.
The
first term assemblyman said he had never met Lim for the past four years
despite serving the same constituents under Gelang Patah.
“Yes, he
will be here (Gelang Patah) during Ramadan to distribute dates.
“But for
the past four years, whenever I attended Chinese community functions, I have
never seen him. He always sent his representatives,” he added.
Zaini
also slammed Lim for being “only interested in looking to win a seat in Johor”
in the last election and not to serve the people.
“That is
his modus operandi all this while. Look for a seat with a sizeable Chinese
voter population and leave after securing the seat,” Zaini said.
In GE13,
Lim defeated then Johor menteri besar and BN’s Abdul Ghani Othman with a
majority of 14,762 votes.
Back in
GE13, the Chinese were the majority voters in Gelang Patah with 52% followed by
Malays 34% and Indians 12%.
Now it
is rumoured that Lim will be leaving Gelang Patah to contest in Penang and let
DAP’s latest Malay leader, Zaid Ibrahim, defend the seat for DAP.
