Watch Video
Everyone, please be careful when you are pumping compressed natural gas into your vehicle! Just last Saturday, it was reported by Daily Mail that a car had exploded while it was being filled up with the gas killing one woman and injuring three others.
The shocking video documented the horrific incident that took place at a petrol station in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Jorge Siqueira de Souza, 45, was seen chatting with his female passenger, Erica de Lima Thiengo Siqueira, 27, through the front-left window of his car before the car exploded.
Erica was killed instantly and reports says that her body was burnt beyond recognition. The blast was so impactful that it threw Jorge flying into the air and landing metres away from the vehicle. Even the station’s roof was severely damaged.
Jorge is now receiving intensive care at the Alberto Torres State Hospital in the Sao Goncalo neighbourhood. Two others that were minorly injured due to the blast had received medical attention and were allowed to go home.
The fire department of Rio de Janeiro said that there was a build-up of pressure inside the vehicle’s gas cylinder and that build-up had caused the explosion. They also said that while pumping CNG to the vehicle, all passengers and the driver should be outside of the vehicle.
According to passersby, the scene was just too horrific as they could see pools of blood scattered at the premises.
