KUALA LUMPUR – Tan Sri Annuar Musa has increased the prize money for his so-called essay writing contest, which is calling for submissions to condemn DAP’s Lim Kit Siang, from RM10,000 to RM50,000.

The Umno information chief reportedly urged those with information on Lim purportedly being a “racist, anti-Islam and a dictator” to pen their thoughts on social media or blogs, adding that the winner will be awarded the sum.

“The material must be based on ‘creative facts’ (fakta kreatif) and research, it must not contravene the law,” he said in a statement today.

DAP, fearing the security of Lim, filed a police report against Annuar earlier this morning.

“If you have proof, views or ideas related to this allegation be it in the form of blog writing, media articles, short videos or infographics, please send them to me. A prize of RM50,000 awaits you.

“The material must be based on ‘creative facts’ (fakta kreatif) and research, it must not contravene the law,” he said in a statement today.

DAP, fearing the security of Lim, filed a police report against Annuar earlier this morning.

When speaking to reporters yesterday, Annuar pointed out that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had also branded the DAP parliamentary leader a “racist” previously.

However, Dr Mahathir who quit Umno to co-found a new Malay party last year has since reversed his stance against Lim as their political pact prepare to battle the Barisan Nasional coalition in the next general election due next year.

Annuar announced his “contest” after Lim reportedly called him “father of [a] racist” and a “disgrace to Islam”.

Lim in uttering those words during a press conference also challenged Annuar to lodge a police report against him, to which the latter said he wanted to take on the Gelang Patah MP “politically”.
