American teacher Nathan Stauffer took his English classes to another level! He brought 74 of his students in SMK Sungai Ranggam in Kampung Gajah, Perak to watch a live theatre performance in Kuala Lumpur.
You must be wondering where did he get the funds to send that amount of kids to the big city, right? Well, according to The Star, he won a grant from the US Embassy. I wonder if our own Malaysian teachers would go to this mile or not for our students?
You may ask why a live theatre performance, though?
Apparently, Nathan who hails from Philadelphia, not only studies and practices to be a teacher, he also acted a lot in theatre, and he felt that it would be an interesting and fun way for him to communicate with the students who seem to be very shy in speaking in English.

He also hopes that by exposing the kids to the live theatre performance of Mud: Our Story of Kuala Lumpur, which not only is played in English, it also depicts the Malaysian culture and history, the children will be very much interested in doing their own live performance for the school.
Hope that Nathan will be able to link bridges between English and the children from Malaysian schools with low or mid-level English proficiency.
The American teacher also seems to be taking the initiative to learn our local language to help communicate easier with the students and also to set an example, that learning a new language can be just as fun as game time.
