Brief history of the Tamils in Malaysia and they are the ancestors of the Malays (originally Tamils but used the word Malai to differentiate from the Tamil Hindus when they converted to Islam and the Malays have forgotten their ancestors. The Malay culture is very similar to Tamil culture in clothing, weddings, food, some parts of the language, the name Malay (Malay which is in Tamil for people from the mountains) and also the cultural practices. I think since the Malays converted to Islam, they only change the alphabets of the written language and retaining all the other Tamil practices. The Malays aspire to be Arabs
