Joke Of The Day - MACC to Umno: Stay away from corruption, power abuse

Party leaders must act with integrity to implement the responsibility and trust given to them, says MACC ( Malaysia All Corrupters Congress )

KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with Umno’s 71 st anniversary today, the party received a stark reminder from the nation’s graft busters – refrain from corruption and abuse of power.

In congratulating Umno with its anniversary, MACC said party leaders must act with integrity to implement the responsibility and trust given to them.

“MACC hopes these leaders will take seriously the responsibilities entrusted to them and conduct their duties to the best of their abilities so that the people can enjoy the benefits provided by the government to them,” MACC said in a statement.

MACC said that as the party that makes up the backbone of the country’s administration, its leaders play an important role in drafting policies for the development and progress of the country.

The anti-graft agency also said that Umno leaders should emphasise on the fight against corruption and abuse of power to be a good example to the generations that will lead the country in the future.

“These leaders also play an important role in shaping a society that is not only prosperous but also ethical and they should never indulge in corruption and abuse of power,” it said, reported the Star Online.

MACC also hoped that Umno would support its Anti-Corruption Revolution Movement (Gerah) that was launched on Monday.

The Gerah campaign will be held on the first Monday of every month and will see MACC officers going to the ground to bring about aggressive and drastic changes among Malaysians.

This is to ensure that Malaysians place corruption as their number one enemy.

Some 2,000 MACC officers nationwide will become ‘agents’of this initiative, and will be tasked with meeting the people.
